Good recruiting video, saw this in high school. Lewis and Clark HS Spokane, in 1968. Enlisted in the Navy in 1969 and became a Missile Technician, MT2(SS) on the USS George C Marshall. Very accurate video.
Hilarious! He heaps all the praise on the one submariner for mastering the SSBN in a short period of time and then turns to the other and says "Congrats....you finally made it.". I almost expected him to call him a shit-bird. lolz. GO NAVY.
Enlisted as MT and due to ship one week from today. Im sure many of the things described in this video are different, but it was insightful nonetheless. Knowing nothing of electronics, and how far they've developed since this production... It's intimidating. Our ancestors would say that's a minor obstacle and encourage us to push on, though. Wish me luck, since basic training is the first step to being a submariner.
@Sleepy Lanery afqt. it's a bit weird because you can score lower and get SECF, and they won't tell you what you are until you get to BESS. one of my bootcamp buddies was "SECF" all bootcamp and he gets here and they say "yep, you're an MT." it was like that for all SECF they were just "ok you're FT" "okay you're sonar" and so on. i was able to pick MT straight up, however. none of that randomness and BS.
@Sleepy Lanery AFQT isn't what qualifies you for a rating. Missile Technicians requirements use the following category scores from the ASVAB: AR + MK + EI + GS = >222, or VE + AR + MK + MC = >222
