Peter’s charm is that he always grounds a studio - exuding the most authentic ‘man on the street’ persona. And that’s because he’s exactly that. He’s never strayed from his roots, enabling stupendous observational comedy and the ability to make anybody laugh with the gold one usually routinely passes by & forgets during daily life. The party table cloth and cordial in this video are perfect examples.

Nor one that wants to .. for a host this is a night off all they have to do is open the box and watch the audience roar with laughter. Very much of a certain type of funny man. I compered Norman Collier once in the late 80's I went to see him in the dressing room before he went on and he was just on it... box of frogs but hyper, fast thinking and funny. RIP Norman

That swipe at up tight Beckham about his wife was too funny only mr kay could do that
It was all distraction to avoid answering any questions about his private life, even questions on his next project were skirted over. But you know what, it is all comedy gold and the audience loves him for it. I would much rather be made to laugh than find out stuff about him he would rather keep to himself. The best example is the Parkinson send off, especially the bit with the lollipop man outfit! Interestingly enough Kay made reference to the Rod Hull interview, another example of distraction to avoid questioning.
That first one was just the funniest physical comedy ever on a chat show. It’s just pure personality and charisma.

You know if you have Peter Kay on, forget any order or script you enjoy the ride. Alan knew it and was happy to go along with. Mainly because he knew he wasn't going to be humiliated.
Because he's good, old fashioned humor. Just about everyone can relate to everything he says. He's "one of us". No politics. No condescension. No foul language. Just real life.
What a Legend, absolute genius. Could be so much more but production companies dare'nt touch him because his shows would just go to pot like this 😂 would be TV Gold though. Give him a show somebody!
He must be the worst guest for any chat show host. Amazing bloke! Had tickets to see him on his last tour before it was cancelled. I can only hope he's well and there is another one, as it's definitely on my bucket list to see Peter Kay live.
I love how he goes on any of these and just makes mockery of it and diverts it to something else, not even Lee Evans managed to do that no matter how much he was like he was
