Mortis Media, these stories leave a less than rosey memories of tent camping as a child. With no cots or air mattress, just a sleeping bag and the hard ground. It was horrible! 😖 But the stories are still awesome to hear and wonderfully narrated by you. 😊

It’s been a while so let me give everyone an update on how I’m doing, first and foremost I’m not doing well last week my youngest brother David died of an opioid overdose and his funeral is this Friday, I miss him very much but I’m trying to stay strong for my wife, my 3 year old son and my 1 year old daughter. Speaking of my wife she is 9 months pregnant with our twin daughters Katie and Abigail and she will give birth in 8 days so I’m sad about David’s death but I’m excited about being a father to 4 children in 8 days.
I lost my brother a year ago to drugs - I’ll be thinking of you. I’m sure you know this, but I promise it gets better. I still miss my bro every day, but it’s nothing like the dread I felt the first few weeks, waking up every morning and remembering he was gone all over again. I overdosed on opiates once myself (I struggled for almost a decade, but I’ve been clean for more than 5 years now). You don’t suffer, and the overwhelming majority don’t even realize it’s happening. You probably know that too, but just in case. Congratulations on your family. You must be so proud and so excited. And it is okay to let them see you grieve. As long as your kid feels safe, it can even be a healthy model for them. If they see that you’re sad, tell them how you feel and why. That’s mainly for the 3 year old, obviously. When my brother died, I spent a great deal of time learning about how to deal with grief in front of his 5 year old daughter, my niece. Showing emotion is something that so many of us struggle with, especially when we want to be strong for the kids around us. It’s okay for them to see that we’re sad. It helps them learn how to identify and cope with their own feelings. Even when they’re little, they often recognize how the adults around them are feeling. Sometimes it helps to address it. I’ll be thinking of you and your family. Personally, I felt the worst in the week leading up to the funeral - things started feeling easier after it was done. Much love. You got this.
