I was actually complaining about the same things yesterday. I agree with you on all points especially the node tracker, it's essentially useless. I spent two palia day cycles in Kilima at the lake attempting to get the ancient fish. I was only able to find less than 30 nodes in over 48 palia hours and that was up and down the entire lake area including the back part over behind farm. Additionally, all the nodes had were the aligator gar and beluga sturgeon. I was very frustrated too. This makes several times I have tried for the star quality ancient fish.
In full with u and u make great suggest to improve the fishing, for me ancient fish was a rlly Pain, near to 400 glow worm and idk how many hour i spent😩 i didnt see any improvement on bahari fishing node, today spent 20min on coast to find one and not the fish I need...
@@Otbut There was one place in a Bahari river where fishing nodes seem to come up more often, when they didn't come up at all. And that was all I could see for Bahari. Also, trying to finish the achievement for Makeshift furniture, I don't actually mind getting the fishing treasure chests, but Wolfie made a really good point that it really makes getting the starred Ancient fish even further out of reach. I've nearly given up on that.
@@WolfieSilveira I'm complaining about a free game, which I never forget, but I love fishing too, and the Tuning fork and the extreme rarity of "Epic" fish is extremely frustrating; you made a great point about the Makeshift treasure chests decreasing the likelihood of getting a starred "anything" fish, let alone the elusive Ancient fish. Also my achievements for many of these "collections" (bug, fish and Makeshift furniture) isn't updating anyway, which I find incredibly annoying, given that they used to.
You get into such a zoned out state when fishing, that when a challenging fish is hooked, you're often not fully focusing anymore. Ps: Lot of great points made and good solutions offered.
I'm missing 7 starred fish and can count of one hand the times they've been on my hook. To add insult to the existing frustration, they've made starred fish harder to catch. I'm not the only one who's noticed, as I was wondering if it was my mouse or my tendinitis getting worse. Nope, others have said it too. I'm about to write off my achievement as impossible to get. Which is a shame, I used to find it peaceful and enjoyable.
i recommend strongly to use the fisherman brew, sashimi and sushi to get the harder fishes. i also use the hook to give bigger safe stone from Einar. i am down to just the ancient fish and the unicorn fish. but they have yet to show again after i lost them both
I totally agree. The fishing node "tuning fork" is pointless, unless you're already within range of the node, and since you're running from each place where you can catch a fish, to the next, because not every stretch of water is "fishable", what is it's point? It won't show unless you're pretty much on top of the next node anyway...And we're all after the same Ancient Fish Star Quality lol. Actually I caught three ancient fish at the Majiri Markets (not star quality) but that was the very first time I'd ever caught one. I'm now level 70 plus fishing (not that that makes any difference to anything except accessing NPC's shop furniture/deco items), and I've only caught one other Ancient since the Majiri market closed. In other words, about 30 fishing levels later lol. All I can say is "best of luck" with the star quality Ancient fish. It ranks right up there with Unobtainium for me. And it's a real doozy to reel in.(which you'd think I'd know how to do by now, right??)
I got the starred Ancient One fish by being relentless...took me a good week to finally catch it... but I still need a few more, specifically the am and pm rays in the Bahari Rivers, i.e., Flooded Fortress. The nodes there were misaligned and beyond frustrating. With a 3 hour window that translates to 5 minutes, it's just about impossible to hook them IF they even spawn during that time. What I do there though is go into the mines and fish for the other starred Epic ray that I need in-between the time periods. Saves me from running around the entire map endlessly. I stepped away from the game to play my other favs precisely because I'd done all there was to do, outside of the few remaining fish I needed to complete the starred achievement, and it was just brutal to keep trying to get them. I'll pop back in at some point to check out the new content, but the thrill is gone for me. You do an outstanding job with your videos. Keep up the great work
Thanks for the nice words and yes. Its a very boring grind and unfortunately for me, I've managed to hook the ancient fish and the unicorn fish both and lost them because they struggled too much. I've resorted to make all the fishing buff food there is and even bought the boost hooks, now its just praying that I can find the fishing nodes too. Also tomorrow will have a nice update we hope! I'll be going live as soon as the update is done :D
tbf the game isnt really made to rush things. its more just take your time with things and eventually get special things. BUT i also agree with you that there should be some way to get the more rare things especially with fish. one idea i had would be being able to make "fish pellets" you can throw in the water that can increase rates or maybe spawn the star quality ripples. they can even make it expensive to make with a low gold reward so ppl only make it when they want to use it.
I agree with you 100 percent.. A well done video explaining clearly the dilemma we all face in Palia fishing which is a problem. I can see you have fished a lot too at lvl 62 so I have to hand it to you for trying. I have played since closed beta and my fishing is only lvl 17 right now. I play the game a lot too and many hours but I avoided fishing a lot because of the difficulty catching what is needed. I dreaded all the quests too that sent me off looking for specific fish. Thank god they were not so difficult but still it was a pain at times. Thanks for sharing and I sure hope you gave this feedback to the developers at S6 because we sure could use some help from them getting this fixed.

Agree 1000% I have spend so many hours trying to get some star quality fish. Both my fish achievements are broken. I have build myself a Gone fishing plot, so I know the fish I need in star quality. Namely 7. Do I know where they are supposed to be? Absolutely. Can I catch the ….. things. How about no…It’s SO frustrating. The Tuning fork, is not very useful at all. The grinding is driving me crazy. I really hope they fix it. Crossing fingers you get the Fairy Carp soon
I am using a google doc to track what fishes i still need because the achievement bug. And thankfully I JUST got the fairy carp today and the willow lamprey yesterday now i just have 4 fishes to go.
Yeah, fishing is probably my least favorite activity in Palia. But I generally don't like fishing skill in games. However, for me personally, the biggest issue with fishing as of right now, is that bug that keeps happening when fishing in fishing spots with glow worms, where you reel in when a fish bites, but you catch nothing. I don't get that with regular worms or no bait, just with glow worms, which highly annoys me and makes it even more impossible to catch those rare starred fish.
Totally agree! When I find myself wanting to fish I normally can't be asked to go running around! I just want to pick a location and fish! Great vid

The idea with a bubble, from which you can get several starred fish is much better than the current mechanics of running along rivers

I used Fisherman's Brew and Sushi as buffs and yes, I lost my first Ancient One too. You'll get them, just keep at it :)
