You played a crazy hard autoscroll water level in MM1 no skip #83, aptly named, "this level violently thrusts you into an ocean of pain" lol. That was a good one
that Car level is something he'll defin have to come back by when SMM2 services are shutting down. We ain't letting him get away with avoiding levels he couldn't beat at the time, lol.
That water level is really similar to a MM1 level called Swim: The Musical, i don't exactly know if Ryu played it, but I remembered from Game Grumps. It was designed for you to at with the beats of the music, which is different in this version.
This one looked like the original MM1 level but with a different tune - which if it is makes it extra difficult as you'd have no reference point to follow unless you were creative with some headphones and were incredibly accurate in starting both level and song at the same time.
Fine if you don't want to Ryuvenge every level that you run into, but at least show the name or code the levels you play, if you don't mind, would be nice
Because level design and gameplay execution are not the same skill set. The overwhelming majority of game devs are actually terrible game players, but because they have design skill they are capable of producing the great games that players enjoy. Games that they themselves are often incapable of actually beating. Blanket dismissal of a SMM stage "bEcAuSe DeV pIpE!1!!" just shows a fundamental mental deficiency in the one proclaiming it, that they cannot comprehend such a simple concept with decades of validating proof behind it.
@@hexerin The overwhelming majority of levels with dev pipes are terrible levels filled with awful game design. It's a valid point that being able to make an interesting level is a different skill than being able to clear an interesting level. That Water level creator played my difficult water level, apparantly she likes doing hard levels with underwater theme, when I mean by hard I mean HARD levels (Absurd level difficulty) I only completed one of her levels...
On level 1, would be cool if creator had two paths. One with checkpoints or the other with unlimited power ups as it is. Choose checkpoints vs unlimited power ups. hmm....
I knew it, boss room after boss room after boss room. Zero flags. What happened to Ryu's skepticism? He used to smell these levels after the first life.

Does anyone know the code for the level at 22:48? I’d love to play it. Ryu, would you please be able to possibly start showing the level IDs for the warmup levels and other miscellaneous levels? Even in the description would be cool 😎
11:00 dirty dev exit moment. When you see a stage is beyond tedious in every regards with no check point, it's highly likely there's gonna be a dev exit.
@@qwe-kv1em To be fair, in many types of levels being the creator gives you an immense advantage compared to your players: you know how to play it. Even if you suck, your ability to clear that level may be quite a few levels over your true ability, since you don't need to learn how to play the level while playing it. You just need to get good at the points you already know; while puzzle levels, levels with different paths or even mazes, or levels with creative ways to beat the bosses all make it harder for the players to figure out.

There are good unlimited power up boss fights. It's possible if the player doesn't get access to the power up on spawn location, so you get only get a new one every so often
I've seen a boss fight or two that were really good and creative despite infinite powerups. But they had a mechanism that would block off the powerup after just 1 popping out, and you had to do something to open it up for another one.
I imagine the not only the repetitiveness of your game play when you lose, but also the appreciation of the editing that takes place because I understand that there is no save state in this game like on the Nintendo Switch online for the emulators that you play. I love how he was talking crap on boss fights with unlimited power-ups not being good, and then immediately after has a boss fight with unlimited power-ups that's actually good 💀
That water level won't take hours. The clear check time is 40 seconds and its not scrolling fast enough to push you all the way to the end that fast. There's a dev exit.
I recently bought this game; I cannot believe how much slide there is compared to the original Mario Maker. You have to turn back on every precision jump, or you are basically landing on ice.
8:10 - They included a clear condition for one reason only - so that when someone wonders why there's no checkpoint, they can in effect say: 'Sorry, there's a clear condition, so I couldn't include one.' I was laughing so hard at that 🤣
