It's not only about who won in the end, it's also about how they got treated "after" the event, which I found really sad. Contract or not, the beatboxing community was supposed to be a family, and they really should reward other participants as well, this is just outraging. No one got robbed and no one got biased, a winner had to be decided anyways. This whole drama was all about the prizes. A win cannot be split, a prize can.
There is no way the judges are completely unbiased. There are a lot of connections between the competitor and the judges. Every judge is biased some way shape or form.
For the record, River split the prize money between himself, Napom, Wing and Abo Ice. So it isn't even about the money. People are just salty their preffered beatboxer lost and are getting very spiteful about it.

I think the sheer presence and dominance, especially in the second round is crazy. It feels like he already won and is just toying with river - jumping left and right across the stage with river just being an obstacle or someone to make jokes about. As a battle Napom wins. I had Napom. As a skill showcase River wins. This is a beatbox battle, Napom had the better arrangements for energy and crowd hype, got River extremely nervous. Countered River and owned the stage with his confidence like a true battle should be done. I understand why River won, but this is a battle and I thought Napom had better battle energy and arrangements for a battle.
Imo, it’s like the difference between an irl battle, and the kickback battles they did a couple years ago. Kickback, since it was recorded and they could have as many takes as they want, you had to be technical and complex. With irl battles, you have to have the energy and real time counters. If this was kick back, river would’ve won confidently. With this being an irl battle, I think Napom controlled the stage the whole time.

I really like your analysis, everything you said makes a lot of sense. I think river is too ambitious with his arpeggio, it’s too much, it often doesn’t sound clean. If I were Napom, I would have made fun of it even more. I think also that because of that, he would have lost again against Colaps.
Napom deserved that win, everyone knows it. But you cant deny River. Winning is being at the right place in the right time. River got robber last year… not of colaps. But of being a champ. He deserved it this year. And no one could have taken it apparently.. cause Napom won this battle…..

Those 25 seconds (it’s A LOT in a 90 seconds round..) Napom “wasted” towards the end of the second round decided it for me imho…less jokes, a better final drop and he could have swayed more judges or at least give way less resons to debate. Personally I like more River’ s kind of “sounds research” and structure, and I am happy he won, but no one can deny that Napom is a monster on every stage he walks on, and he was d-d-d-daaaamn (hehehehe) close to winning the whole thing once again.
I think it's not the best idea to assume that the live stream sound is the closest to the live sound on the night. I don't think that's the case at all. I think the only way you can compare the sound live is by being live in person. Keep in mind that obviously the live stream sound is still artificial and not as if you were in the venue. There's obviously many factors in person that can't be replicated in the sound live stream, such as resonance. I understand the comparison of the live stream sound being different to the processed sound by Sinjo, however I don't think assuming the live stream sound is the closest to being live in person is accurate.

Just more complex. But not that pleasing to MY ears. Napom is mostly original Napom style. Nevertheless I think this could've gone either way and River still deserved the title just as much as Napom. Just didn't like his attitude over the entire tournament.

I am no expert, but have been addicted to beatbox videos for about three years now. There is no disputing that what River does is incredible. For me, when I think of the word “battle” two things win it for Napom for me. 1. Skill level - Although Napom’s rounds may not be as difficult/complex/well-structured as River’s, they are still obviously highly complex, they are nearly flawless and powerful, and they both raise the energy of the crowd from River’s previous round. Napom’s rounds also seem very freestyled, which show that his skill level is as good or better than someone who is as highly rehearsed as River. He also shows that he’s a much more highly skilled performer. 2. Battle Energy - Again, both of Napom’s rounds take the energy that River brings to the crowd and takes it up a notch. The second round counter was really good…and it was over for me when Napom spoke the truth of all battle truths for me: “People want that dope shit!” and hits us with some classic Napom dope shit. I agreed with Stich’s reaction when he said Napom could’ve walked off stage before he ever made the Gene joke, left 30 seconds on the clock, and I would still say Napom wins.
One thing I notice w gbb over the years is if you’ve already won it and make it to the finals u just don’t win again, 🤷🏻♂️, I feel like that plays a part in it tbh. But congrats to river 100% one of my favs just I leaned more towards napom here
While I agree that napoms style has gotten EXTREMELY old, I also think River has been getting boring and stale. Yes his musicality is good but for example, his first round was quite easy to perform. Slow melody means SO much time to get good timing. Rivers second round is how EACH round should be in terms of a GBB champs complexity
Napom beats are old but his beatboxing are way better than river. His beats are very vibey and very ear pleasing and on the other hand river's beats was boring and not very good FOR ME.

If I did a difficult combo in a slow beat that’s different. But just a single sound that he can do easily isn’t complex. That’s like saying people doing inward bass like inertia is complex. Inertia can do the bass easily and it’s a single sound, that’s not complex. His second round is complex because he uses difficult sounds and makes CRAZY combos
I really think they need to have a judge for different nationalities to avoid biased opinions. Not saying that river didnt win, he did in my opinion no question. But its clear that sometimes that they want their own nationality to win which is understandable. So different nationalitys could help with that bias.
Bruv there has been judges from same countries and they eliminate their own, I swear yall with this "biased judging" thing💀 D-low himself said he didn't know who to vote he had to take a long time to think, also it's not easy to get judges for the GBB all from different countries, judges need to be of the highest level they aren't just gonna pick someone like ICE as a judge or something like that you need a certain status for that🤷🏾♂️

For me it was river. But it doesn't mean that napom was not worthy. Napom was also super dope but the thing is if you keep doing same thing then people's ears will get to used to it as you can see. And I choosed river because he is just so complex and do so hard beats that are almost humanly impossible to imitate but he does it so well without doing mistakes. Remember throughout the year napom went to many stages and battled but at most of the time I've noticed that river was judge of the stage where mostly napom was performing. I.E Florida beatbox battle. So after he judged competitions like Florida BBX battle and like german BBX. I can see he saw the mistakes of mostly beatboxers out there that he can give touch to those mistakes and win and he did it. So it was river for me in this way. I like napom too. Respect for both ❤
Tbf gene voted for napom, like how the French guys voted for river. Eliminate those and its still 1-1 where skiller voted for river and dlow for napom. To each their own why river won dude. Imo napom had it. But he ruined it with the last 30 seconds of his final round. The "playing around" killed the vibe for me
they should have it so none of the judges are from the preformers country, so you kinda remove that bias, i thought napom won personaly, but i dont think gene should judge napom viseversa. but that's just my 2 cents

i think napom was referring to Dams when he said Damn daniel. Dam - A dam is a barrier that stops or restricts the flow of surface water or underground streams.
I found River's rounds to be more technical, but the musical parts are too off-tune, especially in the second round. And like in basketball, the points only count if the ball goes in the basket, not if the players attempt a half-court shot. Same with River. Meanwhile, Napom's musical parts (and his liprolls) are much more accurate with tune. Napom took it for me. I mean this with as much respect and love for River and his style.

I don’t see how NaPoM could have won this. Round one was a clear win for River. NaPoM had round two in the bag but messed up in the last 30 seconds with his back-to-back jokes. The jokes weren’t terrible, but he lost energy with them directly next to each other and his drop after was his worst drop of the entire GBB
I wanted river to win but in defense of NAPOM even though the joke was bad, it still was used as a weapon in battle as he implied river was a rip-off version of gene. Structure wise it was a little bit off putting, but the winner of a battle has a lot more to do with just structure. They look a multiple criteria’s and you could say rivers structure was better in the battle but that doesn’t necessarily = an automatic win. You have to look at technique, original ideas, new things they are bringing to the battles and a plethora of other things. Now for us normal beatboxers it can seem like a stretch for NAPOM to win but when you are a professional judge and can look at all the things you would look for in a gbb champion, it can sway decisions easily. Dlow one of the goats of beatbox in my opinion voted for NAPOM and gave his reasoning.

I watched his analysis and I see where he and the other judge saw Napom as the winner, but Napom had a King Inertia moment in this battle and he became too repetitive. Spamming sub-bass lip rolls doesn’t always give you a win.
From what I remember live, napom felt more powerful and rivers yodelling thing was off. I preferred napoms rounds tbh but I can see why someone would vote river The joke did kill the energy a little but it was funny so I didn't mind it. The counter was really effective tho, sure napoms sounded more sharp and rivers sounded more rounded but to do a triple spit snare that fast is crazy

Skill level - Although Napom’s rounds may not be as difficult/complex/well-structured as River’s, they are still obviously highly complex, they are nearly flawless and powerful, and they both raise the energy of the crowd from River’s previous round. Napom’s rounds also seem very freestyled, which show that his skill level is as good or better than someone who is as highly rehearsed as River. He also shows that he’s a much more highly skilled performer. 2. Battle Energy - Again, both of Napom’s rounds take the energy that River brings to the crowd and takes it up a notch. The second round counter was really good…and it was over for me when Napom spoke the truth of all battle truths for me: “People want that dope shit!” and hits us with some classic Napom dope shit. I agreed with Stich’s reaction when he said Napom could’ve walked off stage before he ever made the Gene joke, left 30 seconds on the clock, and I would still say Napom wins.
One thing I notice w gbb over the years is if you’ve already won it and make it to the finals u just don’t win again, 🤷🏻♂️, I feel like that plays a part in it tbh. But congrats to river 100% one of my favs just I leaned more towards napom here
While I agree that napoms style has gotten EXTREMELY old, I also think River has been getting boring and stale. Yes his musicality is good but for example, his first round was quite easy to perform. Slow melody means SO much time to get good timing. Rivers second round is how EACH round should be in terms of a GBB champs complexity
Napom beats are old but his beatboxing are way better than river. His beats are very vibey and very ear pleasing and on the other hand river's beats was boring and not very good FOR ME.

If I did a difficult combo in a slow beat that’s different. But just a single sound that he can do easily isn’t complex. That’s like saying people doing inward bass like inertia is complex. Inertia can do the bass easily and it’s a single sound, that’s not complex. His second round is complex because he uses difficult sounds and makes CRAZY combos

I really think they need to have a judge for different nationalities to avoid biased opinions. Not saying that river didnt win, he did in my opinion no question. But its clear that sometimes that they want their own nationality to win which is understandable. So different nationalitys could help with that bias.

Bruv there has been judges from same countries and they eliminate their own, I swear yall with this "biased judging" thing💀 D-low himself said he didn't know who to vote he had to take a long time to think, also it's not easy to get judges for the GBB all from different countries, judges need to be of the highest level they aren't just gonna pick someone like ICE as a judge or something like that you need a certain status for that🤷🏾♂️

I think River did more beatboxing instead of making jokes on stage that's why he was favored to win.
For me it was river. But it doesn't mean that napom was not worthy. Napom was also super dope but the thing is if you keep doing same thing then people's ears will get to used to it as you can see. And I choosed river because he is just so complex and do so hard beats that are almost humanly impossible to imitate but he does it so well without doing mistakes. Remember throughout the year napom went to many stages and battled but at most of the time I've noticed that river was judge of the stage where mostly napom was performing. I.E Florida beatbox battle. So after he judged competitions like Florida BBX battle and like german BBX. I can see he saw the mistakes of mostly beatboxers out there that he can give touch to those mistakes and win and he did it. So it was river for me in this way. I like napom too. Respect for both ❤

Tbf gene voted for napom, like how the French guys voted for river. Eliminate those and its still 1-1 where skiller voted for river and dlow for napom. To each their own why river won dude. Imo napom had it. But he ruined it with the last 30 seconds of his final round. The "playing around" killed the vibe for me

I found River's rounds to be more technical, but the musical parts are too off-tune, especially in the second round. And like in basketball, the points only count if the ball goes in the basket, not if the players attempt a half-court shot. Same with River.
Meanwhile, Napom's musical parts (and his liprolls) are much more accurate with tune. Napom took it for me.
I mean this with as much respect and love for River and his style.
River was more complex and complete everytime even the "counter" of napom only impact the crew but at the final in general river was more.

I don’t see how NaPoM could have won this. Round one was a clear win for River. NaPoM had round two in the bag but messed up in the last 30 seconds with his back-to-back jokes. The jokes weren’t terrible, but he lost energy with them directly next to each other and his drop after was his worst drop of the entire GBB
I wanted river to win but in defense of NAPOM even though the joke was bad, it still was used as a weapon in battle as he implied river was a rip-off version of gene. Structure wise it was a little bit off putting, but the winner of a battle has a lot more to do with just structure. They look a multiple criteria’s and you could say rivers structure was better in the battle but that doesn’t necessarily = an automatic win. You have to look at technique, original ideas, new things they are bringing to the battles and a plethora of other things. Now for us normal beatboxers it can seem like a stretch for NAPOM to win but when you are a professional judge and can look at all the things you would look for in a gbb champion, it can sway decisions easily. Dlow one of the goats of beatbox in my opinion voted for NAPOM and gave his reasoning.
@@timmyj4468 I’m not saying River clearly won in a landslide, I think D-Low is one of the greatest, if not the greatest best boxer in the world right now. I watched his analysis and I see where he and the other judge saw Napom as the winner, but Napom had a King Inertia moment in this battle and he became too repetitive. Spamming sub-bass lip rolls doesn’t always give you a win.
From what I remember live, napom felt more powerful and rivers yodelling thing was off. I preferred napoms rounds tbh but I can see why someone would vote river
The joke did kill the energy a little but it was funny so I didn't mind it. The counter was really effective tho, sure napoms sounded more sharp and rivers sounded more rounded but to do a triple spit snare that fast is crazy
