    Very nice mix of building styles. Just the right balance between wood and stone on the interiors.

      Thanks dlwatib! Good to see you're around :) yeah I do love the frontier floors, is a bit fancier than normal insulated wood!

    Actually just a sweet build. I really love the incorporation of two separate pillars connected with the bridge

      Yeah I've wanted to do something like this since seeing pyke Castle in game of thrones, if I used arena / storm glass vaulted ceilings I could probably have made it wider and overhanging each side but hey ho! Glad you liked it :D

    I have plans for this location as well! More Japanese theme, but I'm still trying to develop my builds to follow the natural environment better. You do so well at that, great build yet again.

    Machiculations are not turrets, they are defensive wall elements designed to protect those who are defending from atop the wall, mainly archers/crossbowmen and sometimes siege engineers with cauldrons of boiling water. Oil or Pitch was not used very common, since both were too expensive and water was more readily available. I see you built two gate frames into the gatehouse of the barbican(front gatehouse and wall.) Usually they would have murder holes in the ceiling. which you can do with placing a ceiling first, then a pillar snap point guide form the GCAM mod, then attach pilars to it, 1 row is enough. then replace the ceiling with a hatch frame. Other then that, yet again another stunning build :)

      @jimmerding  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Boy you do know your castle defences! there should be a mod that gives those 3 different types of cauldrons instead of just oil ones, make it much more historically accurate. Glad you liked the build though!

    Man that castle Rocks! And that rope bridge is a perfect touch. I always seem to have problems using them when spanning gaps that are just a bit to wide.

      Thanks Daniel! :D yeah I was inspired by pyke Castle on GoT! Rope bridges completed that look. They can be a bit finicky!

    I've enjoyed your builds quite a bit, and the Floorplan illustrations are the greatest feature.
    Your attention to detail and your eye for design is amazing. I like how simple it would be to replicate your designs, and also how your explanations work as a guideline for easy it would be to modify and alter the designs for other locations or intentions.
    If you would, could you design a pyramid style base for a small to medium clan? I'm mostly interested in how you would utilize the interior space under the geometric restrictions of a pyramid, but also how you would decorate that interior.
    Thank you so much for these videos and all your hard work.

      Thank you shadow! I really appreciate that :D I think the majority of my viewers watch just to see the finished build so I'm glad to see there are those who appreciate the actual guides too :) I've got a viking style roundhouse conan build coming this weekend because viking stuff is hot 🔥 atm due to valheim but I have actually wanted to use turanian pieces for a while now, a pyramid sounds ideal for that 👌 I'm thinking argossean white ramps for the sides with a golden aquilonian roof for the topper as that's what the pyramids used to actually look like back in the day 🤔 I'll get on it!

    This is incredible. I love castles and rather like this spot for the natural defensibility of it. This might not be technically important on an RP server, but it would make sense for certain types of characters. I love how you blended the styles. And I really love the modded pieces, especially the machicolations and the walls that have the grey stone on the interior. I feel those are more historically accurate. It is my understanding that the residents would have put thick tapestries on the interior stone walls to help insulate them and make them warmer in the winter months. I tend to dislike the wooden interiors and love tapestries, so this works in my favor. ;-)
    I'd be tempted to put the living quarters where you put the crafting and have the crafting in the front. I also think I would use a drawbridge rather than the rope bridge. Basically, except for the bridge, I'd leave much of the construction the same, however, I would decorate differently. Not that I do not appreciate the way you decorated, I do. It is rather good. However, I would likely go with the theme that the inhabitants would be in the most secure and protected portion of the castle.
    Something else I think I would do slightly differently would be the open grassy area. I would likely have a low wall along the edges. We would not want people falling off! Also, this would make it more defensible, from an RP standpoint. Then, I would utilize planters and benches and such to create a little garden. This would create a nice, relaxing outdoor area for the residents of the castle to enjoy.

      Thanks raigh! Appreciate your kind words :) yeah I always want people to take my builds and tweak as their preference sees fit! I thought about having the hall as one big crafting station tbf but then thought I also wanted something cosy and decorated as the first thing you saw walking in. Good suggestions re the garden too, I always find a way to fall off something if there is no railing in place 😂

      I do too! That is why I have made it a habit to include them where ever possible. 😂

      @@jimmerding Sadly, the server I play on is not using the Glass construction and More mod, which I think this mod uses a lot of pieces from, including the interior walls, 2x2 gates and rounded doorways. Unfortunately, I discussed it with the other primary admin and the mod reccomends a higher leveling system than the one we are currently using and would require extensive testing before we could implement it. Likewise, it would use a lot more data and we'd probably have to get rid of a few of our other mods in order to make room for it. (Servers tend to not be player friendly in terms of loading times and lag if they are too mod intensive.)
      However, I think I am going to give it a go on my SP with the standard black ice and stormglass building pieces and maybe some extras from the AoC mod, which we do use. (We are a high fantasy server with our own lore, fantasy races, and MAGIC! So, AoC helps us a lot ... and it has some nice looking building pieces, even if they are basically pretty recolors of the standard pieces.)

    • @jimmerding
      @jimmerding  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh that's a shame! It's such a good mod too :( understand that it could mess with levelling settings though. I've had aoc before and really liked the building pieces! I made bara'dur out of the black pieces before storm glass was a thing :)

    • @GothicElf68
      @GothicElf68 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimmerding Yes, I really like those black pieces. They actually go reasonably well with the stormglass if the stormglass is used for the roof or windows, like you've done here. They're good for doorways, also. as they add a nice accent and they are rounded.

    could you possibaly do a tutorial of a build on the bridge of the batrayer in khitan or yamatati base? and do one on the frozen lake as well in khitan or yamatai please and ty

    • @jimmerding
      @jimmerding  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like both of those ideas, I've been wanting to do another large castle with a courtyard and the frozen lake is fairly flat... I'll see what I can do ;)

    Love how all your builds look but they're not that functional in space for workstations or doable in official servers. wish they add some of these placables from mods and better stairs / building pieces from mods.

    • @jimmerding
      @jimmerding  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also grew frustrated with the restrictions of vanilla which brought me to mods in the first place! It's silly how far from a wall you have to place things like furnaces.... That's been one of the main gripes of siptah for a lot of people, the stations are huge and there's loads more of them.

    • @jimmerding
      @jimmerding  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks nonetheless though, glad you like the aesthetics which is what I prioritise over other factors anyway on pve type builds!
