  • In this lesson you'll learn about the side chain interactions that are critical to tertiary and quaternary protein structure. You will learn the four major interactions: Hydrophobic interactions, disulfide bridges, salt bridges, and hydrogen bonding. Lastly, we will learn how to identify which interaction is present between any two given amino acids.

    Well this is both way more simple and more complex than I expected, so many questions, but at least I guess I got some answers. Its amazing that we live in a time in that information like this is just out there, available to anyone who seeks it.

    What happens when you have two amino acids that don't fall in the categories 1-4? For instance, if you had alanine and glutamate?

      Well I had the same question, I was using a simulator, according to it, if they are polar and non polar they repel each other, I guess if they are non polar and charged, since the hidrogen has a partial positive charge I guess there would be some attraction, but not enough to make a chemical bond.
