      If Em N Royce never met, this interview don't exist sadly. Royce most likely will be a Dope Ghost Writer at his Height. He can make good music that's Lyrically Superior to 95%. But he lacks that "IT FACTOR". Very few have it. Work Ethic can only TAKE u to someone with the IT and that's as far as u go. Plenty can Out Rap Tupac, Wayne, Jay-Z Etc. But give them the same word for word Albums n see the difference in success

      @@slimmyhendrix4067 thats true...everybody know he's a good lyricist, but 20 years in the game, massive push by em and shady record don't help his career. Royce is the most boring rapper i know, he can put the greatest album of all time out, nobody will listen to him. Its sad watching Dax is doing better than him.

      @@tonysburgers7223 I understand the feeling brotha. I spent 10 years relapsing non stop. I thought I was destined to be in that "fuck it" state of mind. That is pure nihilism my man. The definition of "being" is "to be", a "human being" is a human choosing to be. Life is worth living and living life a slave to the bottle is far from choosing life. It is literally avoiding life and experiences and a slow death. There is a cost to living a life of hedonism. I am so full of gratitude that I can say I hit 3 years sober in early July 2023. I am grateful every single day I wake up and am able to truly experience life in all its fullness even in situations I would find undesirable in my addiction I can find beauty in today. My cognitive function is better than I would have ever gave myself credit for which I only came to realize after I got sober. I have so much more energy and time and I'm a much more efficient and productive human. The positives are endless. It's truly a delusion we come to believe that life somehow won't be fun or u will be missing out on something if u go sober but the reality and the truth is that you are already doing that. Live everyday like there might possibly be a tomorrow. When u engage in recovery your engaging in the recovery of your true self. Upward and onward the only things worth pursuing in life are the good, the true, and the beautiful.

He performed at a little thing called the sober bowl where they had artists and former players from the NFL and NBA coming in to talk about alcoholism and he was supposed to have a 30 minute set but after the acts before him everyone left and there was probably 20 of us and they shortened his set to 15 minutes. Dude was super humble and killed it for us few people who saw him. And then crook retweeted my project a few months back and that was incredible. Much love for these two underground gods!!

    That's what I love about Royce. When Crooked asked if the first Slaughterhouse would be considered a classic, I knew Royce was gonna be real about it. I'm a Slaughterhouse fan, and there was some nice tracks on there, but you gotta understand what you're saying when you throw around words like classic. Underground or otherwise. It's a cool album, but it's not a classic if we're being real. And Royce didn't disappoint.

    • @jdovma1
      @jdovma1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Joshua De Nunzio Book Of Ryan gets more and more profound every time I listen to it. There's very little personal reflection in hip hop. Honestly, was a breath of fresh air. It caught me off guard on first listen. I came out of it feeling like wtf did I just listen to? lol It just had to settle in what it was and once that jived for me, I've loved it every since. But I think my favorite album of Royce's is Death Is Certain. Doesn't get nearly enough attention.

    • @jdovma1
      @jdovma1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Joshua De Nunzio I'm glad you said it. I was gonna say Death Is Certain is a classic to me, but didn't want to get into a debate over whether it deserves classic status. Because the internet. lol One of my favorite tracks he ever did was King Of Kings, which I think would up on a rerelease of Rock City, but wasn't on the original. The crazy thing is I immediately recognized the sample from a Tracy Lords song that was in this indy mob movie called Underworld. I was like how the fuck did this wind up in a Royce track. Random as fuck. And he mushed that beat.

Which is a known fact. Em is a great lyricist but is horrible at making beats and producing/mixing albums.
