A band that started in the early 90’s reaches 2020 and decides to throw us a curveball by going backwards to the 80’s.
I wasn’t expecting it, but I kind of like it. It’s the Pearl Jam bravado that makes me smile.

Perhaps an exaggeration, but it might be one of or the BEST song they've written. Love the Music and just read the lyrics and was blown away. So inspiring that Eddie and the Boys are still so inspired and still truly creating unique/out of the box stuff. Confusing it is to commotion
What love is to our devotion
    Imperceptibly big
    As big as the ocean
    And equally hard to control
    So save your predictions
    And burn your assumptions
    Love is friction
    Ripe for comfort
    Endless equations
    And tugging persuasions
    Doors open up
    To interpretation
    Expecting perfection
    Leaves a lot to ignore
When the past is the present
    And the future's no more
    When every tomorrow
    Is the same as before
    The looser things get
    The tighter you become
    The looser things get
    Tighter
Not one man can be greater than the sun
    It's not a negative thought
    But positive, positive, positive
    Falling down, not staying down
Coulda held me up, rather tear me down
    Drown in the river
    Expecting perfection
    Leaves a lot to ignore
When the past is the present
    And the future's no more
    When every tomorrow
    Is the same as before
Numbers keep falling off the calendar's floor
    We're stuck in our boxes
    When it's open no more
Could've lifted up they're forgetting us
    Not recalling what they're for
    I'm in love with clairvoyants
'Cause they're out of this world
I know the girls wanna dance
    Fall away their circumstance
I know the boys wanna grow
Their dicks, and fix and fire things
I know the girls wanna dance
    Clairvoyants in a trance
I know the boys wanna grow
Their dicks and fix and fire things
Stand back when the spirit comes
Stand back when the spirit comes
Stand back when the spirit comes
    Stand back
Stand back when the spirit comes
Stand back when the spirit comes
Stand back when the spirit comes
    Stand back
Stand back when the spirit comes
Stand back when the spirit comes
Stand back when the spirit comes
    Stand back

    Away their circumstance
I know the boys wanna grow

Michael Been was way ahead of his time and it's nice to see that Pearl jam has actually matured enough to recognize the genius of one Michael Been. Personally, I listen to the music of The Call on a regualr basis. Pearl Jam is shite in comparison. Here is but one example of The Call with a song hauntingly similar in tempo and style. 'Dance' was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration, mixing up the instrumentation and building a great song, and Ed writing some of my favorite words yet, around Matt’s killer drum pattern. Did I mention Mike’s insane guitar part and that Stone is playing bass on this one? We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting."

Now I understand they decided to play on old-school instruments, swap instrumets, etc. And you know what, I listened the song 3 times, then paused for 1 week. And then at night, 2 days ago, I dreamt the whole tune in a clear way, as if I was listening to it in real time. This tune has something quite special and I am not sure yet what it is...

Lol at anyone who thinks Pearl jam was ever actually grunge. They're my favorite band who was misplaced under the grunge label by a media that didn't know what else to call the bands that came out of Seattle around that time because the scene was so sonically diverse. None of the bands sound(ed) alike, but there was an incredible scene that developed. They all got lumped into grunge.

dude i can't believe that this came out only two years ago. i remember when superblood wolfmoon came out as a single and me and my stepdad were stoked for the new pearljam album, and we would listen to it anytime we were in the car. then the album came out and it was immediately our focus for the next few months. we would listen to it all the time, get excited when it came on the radio, compare our favorites of the album, and just bond over it. we aren't that close now, but i still listen to it every day at school, it's mixed in with my normal playlist
