I've got $18 for groceries for me for all of next week and I was a little scared to be honest! I didn't get enough in me last week as it is. This video popped up right on time for me! I am going to try to just follow this as close as I can because the food all looks good! I live near a Kroger too! You helping me out here!

@@MaryTheresa1986 I think I might need to check out getting food stamps because it's getting bad out here. But I will see if I can make do with budgeting and food pantries first. See how it goes. Thank you for advice.
Hi. See if you have a neighborhood pantry; typically they are small bookshelves in front of a home that has various non-perishables in them. Also, at Kroger check early morning for clearance sales. Scale all sections: dairy, meat, produce for yellow stickers--usually manager specials. If it gets so bad go door-to-door and ask for assistance. And if you get to the point where you have no food go look at your public school free lunch. The lunch is aimed towards school age children, but they will not turn you down if you don't have a child with you. It is funded by USDA and will last for the 20-21 school year. Don't go without.
Price check foods. Quick trip sells bread for 49 cents and sometimes you can get eggs for 99 cents. Rice, beans, eggs, bread, ramen, bananas, and frozen veggies are typically the cheapest food to get. Hot dogs are 79 cents at Aldi. Also search $10 weekly grocery budget on TH-cam. Lots of ideas. The quaint housewife typically has more of a nutritious meal plan. Also, remember Dollar Tree has food. 6 instant oatmeal packets for a buck, pair it with an egg and banana.

The sweet potato would be good as a loaded breakfast potato. Saute the plums as a fruit topping, and blend the cottage cheese with cinnamon to make a cream drizzle on top.
I roast root vegetables, zucchini, eggplant and tomatoes at the beginning of each week and use as a base with rice and beans and later in the week on pasta, and last bits get added to veg stock and pre-cooked lentils, a few leftover hopped onions and celery frozen from the week prior for an end of week soup. I typically eat PBJ on whole grain bread for lunch if I run out of the other meals I've made. Mon-Fri I eat homemade banana granola with oat milk or a simple oatmeal with fruit for breakfast. Snacks are chopped veg with dill hummus, fruit, and homemade sweet potato chips. My food budget for one averages $18-$20/week because I typically have stuff leftover from the week before.
I love oatmeal, but I need a sweetner. I made strawberry/rhubarb jam that is more like a syrup but a teaspoon of that on the oatmeal with some milk adds flavor without alot of calories.
Thank you for continuing to make these videos about how to stretch a small amount of money for a week including shopping & cooking. It hurts my heart that people have food insecurity, I tear up just thinking about it. Your skill is very much appreciated, please keep up the excellent work!
That bbq meal looked very filling! My go to when I’m hungry and need something quick is rice, stuffed olives, roasted almonds, and raisins. I know it sounds crazy, but it is so filling and good. Thank you for the ideas!
All the dishes look great, especially the cabbage dinner. Some of my kids are allergic to nuts, so I don't keep them in the house; (nuts, not the kids) Lol. I suppose I would substitute shelled and roasted sunflower seeds.
I would add onions to my cart. Another very tasty dish is lentil beans, onion, olive oil an rice. Brown is what I use. Put lentil beans in pan of water boiling about a cup and a half. Cook onion I use one large white onion in about two TBSP of olive oil, once onion just begins to brown then pour onion and oil into pan of water with lentils and add rice. Oil will not splatter.
I absolutely love the (brown) rice & lentil casserole recipe in Amy Dayczyns Tightwad Gazette book, you can google the recipe and it pops up it costs about a dollar for 4 servings. Add a cooked carrot on the side and I’m in paradise.
I love that this is real food! I often see others doing this with no source of protein and little to no veg or fruit. If only we had those prices in Canada though!!!
Never stop making these videos! I absolutely love these and try to share them everywhere. You’re tremendously helping so many people and I know there’s so many more that would benefit greatly that don’t come across these videos.
You did a great job of using your food and budget wisely. I thought when you put out the dinner ingredients you would turn that into a veggie wrap. Maybe for variety during the week you could blanch the cabbage leaves and fill with rice, shredded carrots, peanuts and BBQ sauce.
I love your idea, too. The whole thing is that cheap is the way our families survived. Many stories from my Dad of the depression and how they used their vegetable garden to survive. Gramps had a lot of meals of potatoes and cabbage with fresh tomatoes and other veg from the garden.
0:55 One thing to consider with smaller size plums, peaches, and nectarines is that you have a higher pit to flesh ratio. When you pay by the pound, you are paying for the pits as well as the flesh. Less pit = better value per pound
The seeds are pretty small in these plums. I don't know if that is normal or not because I haven't had plums in a couple of years. They are quite a bit smaller than peach seeds.
I love these videos! Not just for students. These videos make a great "once-a-week" challenge when you need to save for something...like Christmas presents.😬♥️🇨🇦
Thanks AP! Oh yes, they actually make it a little fun to save (when you can). But OMG Christmas is upon us already. I've definitely not saved a penny yet. XOXO
I just left there it’s one of my favorite stores that and Aldi are the only places I go....I had $17.55 left of my $25 budget for Shelftember....I spent $17.24!!!! Great job on your haul. !!!!
Thank you so much for this video - it helped me greatly! I live alone and most videos are for more than one person. This was perfect and had things I never would have thought to buy (like whole peanuts, would never think I could afford those on a tight budget!.) Can't live your life on oatmeal, eggs, and tortillas lol. The dinner you made looks delicious, budget or no budget. Really appreciate you, dear lady.
I like to shop at ALDI. I’m terrible at remembering prices but here’s what I’m thinking: 2 dozen eggs $1.60 Fruit on sale $2.00 2 loaves of bread $2.00 Jar of peanut butter $2.00 4 cans of vegetables. $2.00 Cottage cheese $1.50 Cheddar-worst $3.00 Potatoes? Would probably put me over but I am not sure on prices.
You can get 2 doz eggs for $1.60??? Thats great..before covid I was paying $1.29 a doz..since covid? I've paid up to $3.59..prices have come down some but I haven't bought any lately..farm fresh eggs here run about $2 a doz..oh..and canned veggies here avg $1 a can..$15 here would get me a doz eggs..a gallon of milk..a loaf of bread..a small tub of margarine..maybe a few peppers an onion n maybe a couple potatoes..in my 20s I lived on that..prefer not to now tho..at 60..lol
Very nice, one meal I love to make is lentil and vegatable soup, I use 2 carrots, 1 onion, can of diced tomato, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 1/2 cup of green dry lentils rinsed, 1 litre stock. I dice everything up and cook the onion in a pot first for 3 mins, then add garlic and carrots, add some salt, pepper and rosemary to taste, cook for 3 minutes, then I add the diced tomato, the lentils, stir and combine, add the stock, add some more pepper and rosemary to taste. I then bring to boil to cook lentils for 10 mins on boil, then let simmer for 55 mins on low and then blend. Its a great recipe I get 4 mid-sized portions out of it and just increase the ingrediants based on what portion size you want. Its super yummy and very filling to and really cheap to make :) :)
If you purchase “Texas Toast bread” in the bread aisle, you can toast it in a bagel slot toaster or toaster oven then spread tomato 🍅 paste on top, add 🍕 pepperoni or other meat/vegetables, then top with shredded cheese. Heat in 350* oven on a cookie sheet until cheese melts = homemade pizza that’s better than bought. I use tomato paste instead of any pizza sauce because it’s thick and isn’t loaded down with sugar. I make several pieces at a time, and the ingredients will last beyond a week so you use it as lunch/dinner during the week or more, depending on size of ingredients bought, plus the ingredients are diverse for other meals. I buy the shredded cheese of my choice and 6 cups for $6.99 at Kroger’s because it lasts me a month or more. The bigger economic sizes are a better buy because you end up spending much less money in subsequent weeks. Your meals are cheap and filling, which is good.
@@ML-sy3bn We can also get pink onions here in Australia, and thankfully they are called pink, don't understand the logic of calling purple things red, odd! :)
I thank You so much for sharing your knowledge and help me feed my family on a small budget. These are such hard times for All of us 🌹💗 have a great Sunday evening 💓
I have trained myself for several years to eat one meal a day and 1 small snack (salad, sandwich, nuts, hard boiled eggs, ect.) I work 3rd shift. I eat a small snack when I get home (4am), do my house chores, shower, shopping, tv, and eat my meal about 9 am. Then sleep from 11am-7pm and start work at 8pm. I do not like to eat before work. I feel more energized not being weighed down. But I will usually pop a handful of nuts or some carrots to munch on during my breaks Eggs, potatoes, rice, fresh veggies, tortillas, cheese, and chicken can really go a long way for fairly cheap! Examples: Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs with onion/ peppers and fried potatoes. Add cheese for a omelet or wrap in tortilla for breakfast burrito. Lunch: salad (lettuce, cucumber, carrot, broccoli, hard boiled egg, and sprinkle of shredded sharp cheddar cheese) If you'll have enough chicken left over from dinners, add to salad, use tortillas and cheese for quesadillas or use shredded chicken, lettuce and cheese for a chicken salad wrap. Dinner: chicken, rice, and sauteed or steamed veggies.(broccoli, carrots, cabbage, zucchini, green beans) Or you can add shredded cheese and make a cheesy chicken and rice bake with veggies) Use extra potatoes to alternate with rice, (baked potato, mashed, french fries) or use to make a creamy potato soup with chicken and veggies (I like onions, carrots, broccoli)
Jellybean, I have heard of OMAD people having success. It's great you found a system that works for you. All the foods you mentioned are making me hungry. Thanks for commenting.
I love making yellow split pea soup and I always put in ground mustard and a can of pumpkin puree. Your grocery choices always surprise me and I never know what your going to make, it gives me ideas I never would have thought of.
Oh! I love split peas, also. That pumpkin added sounds great. I usually make with carrots, onions and a little potato from and old family recipe. They did know how to stretch the dollar.
I like the BBQ veg with peanuts idea! I would probably add green onions, celery and maybe some heat to it. I also like cottage cheese and fruit with cinnamon and usually throw in about 6-7 chopped up pecans.
Add a little water or broth to the split pea/carrot combo and blend with blender to have a nice hearty soup! Add a slice of the whole grain toast with butter and garlic and you have a great fall meal! Great ideas you share ☺️
I love this menu and hard to believe you could pull it off for only $15. I never would have thought to put cottage cheese and fruit on toast--looks delisious--I also like peaches or pears with cottage cheese. The only change I would make for my personal plan would be to try to shuffle things to be able to get an onion . I love when you post these challenges, I always find something yummy to try.
I would have made a big pot of split pea soup, and had that for supper , I would have done eggs and toast, for breakfast, and a tuna sandwich for lunch with fruit as a snack. And I would have bought a ham steak and added some to the soup, and some for breakfast. Odd combination you have chosen.
@maroxa101 we all live in different places, eggs are .77, a ham steak is 3.49, split peas are 2lb for 1, albacore tuna is 1 a can, bread .89, I could have made it work.
These meals look really healthy to me. I love vegetables and actually crave them. The split peas, carrots, and rice look delicious! Thank you for sharing with us.❤️🥰
Having basil, tomato and chilli pesto in your fridge as a staple is super convenient. Makes any meal so much more delicious and interesting! I would definitely spend a few bucks on each, has saved me so many times 🙂
Thank you so much for doing this challenge 💜💙 i hope you and your family is doing well and staying safe! I love this channel you taught me how to save money on foods i use to be so broke after my bills and getting groceries now i always have a few extra dollars in my account 💚
To salvage the seeds on a plum? Look at the top of the seed, there's a small opening where you can use a paring knife to open the seed. You'll have to crack the hard opening to get the seed out, and don't let it sit for awhile after you ate the plum or it will mildew inside the pit. You can dry the seed after it's out of the pit. When it's getting time to plant the seeds for a garden? Put the plum seed into a small glass of plant food and soak it for 3 days before you put it into a zip lock bag with a paper towel and wet it. Keep in a warm.place for another 3 to 5 days then you'll be able to plant it in dirt then you'll have a tree! Please don't plant the tree cl oh se to your house or it will eventually buckle your foundation. Try to put it out to the outer edge of your property away from power lines or fences too.
This menu appeals to me ...I love fruit and veg . Thank you for sharing . I lost my job today . I will use your menus quite a bit . Thank you for all your hard work , much appreciated 🌸

I recently purchased sumac spice. It is pretty good and mild. It reminds me of Tajin which is like a spicy, sour salt mix, but minus the spice. I love all your videos! Thank you for posting 😀
That cabbage and carrots with peanuts looked so good. I think you could use any sauce you happened to have hanging around. Plum sauce, sweet and sour sauce, teriyaki, this way you use those asian sauces you buy for particular recipes and can sit for a while before you think about them or use them to cook again.
I really wanna say thank you for your videos. They're helping me out a lot. I have a bit different aspects that I myself would focus on, so I'll pbl have a grocery list like that (I'm from Germany/Denmark, just to keep in mind the different products that are available here) I would buy potatoes, you can get 4kg for less than 2€ if they're on sale, oatmilk 1€, butter/margarine 80cent, frozen veggies 1kg 1,80€ (if you get the cheapest). I would pbl get some sort of legumes (black beans are my favorite, 50cents per can and I would get two) and some yellow peas (dried) (2€ for 500g) 2kg sack of carrots for 1,20€, whatever fruit I like and that is on sale, a pack of whole wheat toast (55c) a jar of peanutbutter for 1,20 or so or a glass of jelly. Pbl some Quark (dairy/protein, 500g for like 70c) and that would pbl feet me. Maybe some cheap ice cream bars (8pcs for 1,30) if I can squeeze it in there, but that's Optional haha 🙈
Miss Liana, I love your list. Thank you for sharing. I am really fond of soft pretzels and sausages -- like liverwurst and bockwurst. Do they still eat these in Germanic countries?
Pretty much wherever you'd see hot dog stands in America, you'll find a Bockwurst stand in Germany instead. It's kind of hard to find a hot dog stand outside of IKEA actually. Liverwurst is a hit or miss thing here, at least in my experience. But definitely a thing.
@@TheQuaintHousewife it rly depends were you are I guess! I'm on the border to Denmark, so it's easier to find a place to have hotdogs than bockwurst haha. And liverwurst is like the other reply mentioned a bit or miss, some love it, some hate it. I didn't mind it back then, but it wasn't my favorite either. I've been a vegetarian for around 3 years or so by now, and had veggie Leverwurst once. I don't rly miss it though haha :D Soft pretzels are more of a south german thing, except for when you want to bake them up yourself (they are preformed and frozen, but still "raw") I guess I do know more about the danish cuisine than the german haha
Your breakfast put me in mind of this poem. This Is Just to Say by William Carlos Williams I have eaten the plums that were in the icebox and which you were probably saving for breakfast Forgive me they were delicious so sweet and so cold
Everything looked delicious. I would only change white rice to brown rice for taste and nutrition. Not a fan of cottage cheese, would switch to Greek plain yogurt.

I’m the same way when it comes to sweet potatoes! I’m eating one as I watch the video for breakfast. Although, mine doesn’t look as nice as yours lol! I just nuked one and topped it with butter, pumpkin spice, sugar and salt. Still yummy though.
I think barbeque sauce, pasta and eggs sounds like a great recipe, and i am going to try it one of these days. : ) and budgeting even more during these hard times.
It’d be super easy to make this plan vegan, just swap the cottage cheese for peanut butter. And to avoid peanut overload, you could get dried chickpeas for dinners instead of the roasted peanuts.
I would've sacrificed a few carrots to replace the BBQ sauce with teriyaki sauce (and maybe eggs instead of cottage cheese). I'm definitely going to try that cabbage dish with teriyaki, it looks so yummy!
Hi Lisa. Yes, my husband likes it mixed in. I like the rice on the side. And others, like you, like it over the rice. Funny how many ways there are to serve it. Thanks!
This is so helpful for many people, even myself. Reminds me to get creative with what I have at home, things that don't look like they would go, you make look delicious to eat. Warm regards from Sydney, Australia
This reminds me of my college days. I would probably of bought a couple of bananas, a clove of garlic and an onion. This would be about a dollar or so where I live. It would give a bit of variety to your dishes.

Great ideas for only 15 for the week. I wasn't expecting much in the beginning. I think i will try some of these ,especially the Cabbage, pnut and bbq dinner. The split peas and carrot meal had that indian food look to it.
Every time I watch your videos.. I learn more... I love that you are able to make really delicious and inexpensive foods.. goes to show, you don't need that much to get a decent well-balanced diet. Thanks again..!! Can't get enough of these videos..!!
The cottage cheese toast looked great! I would take half of the peas and had soup for some meals. The cabbage looked great and I am going to try it soon! Thank you for the inspiration!!
All your budget videos are amazing. Even though, I'm not on a tight grocery budget (garden is producing like crazy) they are inspiring me to be less wasteful. I would also be really interested is seeing a shopping trip that involves small amounts of stocking up. Maybe adding $3-5 to the budget and what would you use that to stock up on.
Being vegan, I would probably have gotten a couple more sweet potatoes and grabbed a pound of lentils or black beans instead of the cottage cheese. I'm totally with you on sweet potatoes for breakfast.
Now, I want some. I got green cabbage for .06 per lbs! The rest of the foods you found were not the same here. I did find a mix of dry beans for $1.69. I did find berries for $1 per pint :)
always look forward to seeing your newest creation the veggie dish makes my mouth water (smell-o-vision taste-o-vision still not working :-( i love split peas - Italian seasoning 👍 Thank you again for the inspiration ✌️💕
Your lunch looks like an Indian dish. I myself am a pescatarian - dairy, fish and sea food. But I'm not strict, I just don't like cooking or touching raw meat.
Hi! So happy to see your video tonight 😊We went apple picking today and I thought of you! What a great shopping trip- $15 got you a lot for the week. I was so intrigued to see what you were going to do with the peanuts and cabbage for dinner. Yum!! Looked absolutely delicious!!
I normally can kind of figure out where you're going with the recipes before you check out, but I couldn't figure this one out until you showed the recipes. Great meals! You are so creative!
as someone that has been on Weight watchers for 2 years and lost 125 pounds so far I am so excited how many of these recipes are VERY weight watcher friendly. I know it wasn't your intention but its wonderful! The only thing that would really cause a problem for Weight watchers people is the nuts but that can be worked around with smaller portions of them.
Hi there Myrany. Congrats on your weight loss! That is great work. I lost about 50 lbs myself slowly over 3 years eating like this. I sometimes eat similar meals with half the nuts. For the intended calorie count the nuts could be added somewhere else in the day or omitted if the desire is to eat less calories each day.
Amazing prices. Plums in my area cost .93 each x 10 which is what she got makes $9.30 just for plums. Would have to substitute apples at $1.49/lb for week would be $3.99. Cottage cheese here is $4.99 for 24 oz in a nonbrand. Bread would easily also cost $3.99 a loaf. Cost with the apple substitution for me would be $25.99.
I love these type of videos. As for what i would of done differently i would of nixed the cottage cheese and gone with a rice porridge for breakfast. Then i would have the bread as a snack option possibly garlic bread depending on how married to the challenge i am. I also would of looked for chickpeas instead of the spilt peas and maybe tried to slip some of those in dinner too. But tbh i do not know Kroger prices but those are my ideas i think you did really good.
Having all the crunch in the peanut cabbage makes it take more time to eat and therefore more satisfying. Your videos are so real and a lifesaver to stretch one's food budget some weeks/months as needed. Really fantastic. I would have never in a million years come up with the cabbage/carrot/peanut/BBQ sauce combo, but it looks tasty and sounds even better! Nice and crunchy. :D
Maybe we don't notice mentally, but my body definitely notices when it doesn't get what it needs. I was at a restaurant for a wedding celebration once, and I pulled jerky out of my purse to eat with my meal, without even thinking - I just felt like I needed it to be satisfied. I hadn't even noticed that it was a vegetarian restaurant until my friend asked me if I was so anti-vegetarian that I had to bring my own meat to dinner. 🤣

I just left there it’s one of my favorite stores that and Aldi are the only places I go....I had $17.55 left of my $25 budget for Shelftember....I spent $17.24!!!! Great job on your haul. !!!!
What did you buy for your meals?
Can you share what meals that made
Thank you so much for this video - it helped me greatly!
Lisa, happy to hear this helps you! I like to publish the one-person videos as well. XOXO
Love that most of the meals are easily vegan. I would switch the dairy for tofu and enjoy this menu immensely.
I like to shop at ALDI. I’m terrible at remembering prices but here’s what I’m thinking:
2 dozen eggs $1.60
Fruit on sale $2.00
2 loaves of bread $2.00
Jar of peanut butter $2.00
4 cans of vegetables. $2.00
Cottage cheese $1.50
Cheddar-worst $3.00
Potatoes?
Why no fresh vegetables?
Genuine, well thought out, unpretentious - and I see videos of people trying it for themselves , so it's appreciated too.
Thanks for the note, JC!
Kay, great recipe. Thank you!
The carrots and peas was an idea I will definitely use (probably the cabbage, carrots, and peanuts too). Thank you so much for these videos!!
Wow, i can NEVER guess what you will create !
The bread could also be made into garlic bread as well.
Yeah I love that she’s so creative!!
This is great , thanks for proving you can eat healthy food on a budget! I will try some of this, the peanut dish looks especially delicious 😋
Susan, it is my fave dish of the week. Thanks!
Finally, somebody realized it's PURPLE. I'm enjoying the video. Thank you 😎
You cracked me up! XOXO
Onions too. I always hear people call them red onions, but they look purple to me.
@@ML-sy3bn We can also get pink onions here in Australia, and thankfully they are called pink, don't understand the logic of calling purple things red, odd! :)
It is purple! It's crazy to me how people can just see what's right in front of them and still think it's something else.😒😂
@A....lol.True!
I thank You so much for sharing your knowledge and help me feed my family on a small budget. These are such hard times for All of us 🌹💗 have a great Sunday evening 💓
Susanne -- it sure is hard times. Enjoy your evening too! Thanks!
@@TheQuaintHousewife I'm glad to see the new video because I haven't gotten any notice for a while 💗
@@TheQuaintHousewife check out overnight oatmeal on you tube.
The bbq stir fry looks so delicious! Although we are not vegetarians, are meals are heavy on plants- it just very frugal.
But I will usually pop a handful of nuts or some carrots to munch on during my breaks
Eggs, potatoes, rice, fresh veggies, tortillas, cheese, and chicken can really go a long way for fairly cheap!
Examples:
Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs with onion/ peppers and fried potatoes.
Dinner: chicken, rice, and sauteed or steamed veggies.(broccoli, carrots, cabbage, zucchini, green beans) Or you can add shredded cheese and make a cheesy chicken and rice bake with veggies)
Use extra potatoes to alternate with rice, (baked potato, mashed, french fries) or use to make a creamy potato soup with chicken and veggies (I like onions, carrots, broccoli)
That sounds really good. Imma try that when the weather gets cooler.
Oh! I love split peas, also. That pumpkin added sounds great. I usually make with carrots, onions and a little potato from and old family recipe. They did know how to stretch the dollar.
That sounds good to me, too. I'd like to try that soon!
I love the look of the peanut, cabbage and carrot dish for dinner.
Oh it is good. Thanks Lara!
These meals would not fill me enough and canadian prices higher
I want meat fish chicken etc and those are not cheap even on sale here
I love this menu and hard to believe you could pull it off for only $15. I never would have thought to put cottage cheese and fruit on toast--looks delisious--I also like peaches or pears with cottage cheese. The only change I would make for my personal plan would be to try to shuffle things to be able to get an onion . I love when you post these challenges, I always find something yummy to try.
My mom loved toast with cottage cheese but the dry kind with jam on top
I get sliced cheese n 2 slices bologna n bread for cheap sandwich cant afford ham so use bologna
I love these food budget challenges. You do this so well. Thanks
Much appreciated!
I would have made a big pot of split pea soup, and had that for supper , I would have done eggs and toast, for breakfast, and a tuna sandwich for lunch with fruit as a snack. And I would have bought a ham steak and added some to the soup, and some for breakfast. Odd combination you have chosen.
Not for 15 dollars for seven days.....
Jennifer Garfield your statement is ignorant. She's trying to give people with little money some options for variety here.
Jennifer, your meals would not have been as nutritious or nearly as filling.
Ham steak? That's neither healthy not cheap.
I've had pesto but not chili pesto. Sounds interesting!
Thank you so much for doing this challenge 💜💙 i hope you and your family is doing well and staying safe! I love this channel you taught me how to save money on foods i use to be so broke after my bills and getting groceries now i always have a few extra dollars in my account 💚
That is good to hear. Always nice to have a few extra dollars left!
I was really skeptical of the peanut meal at first but once you cooked it, I was like oooh that looks tasty
I know it sounds weird but it turns out good :D
These videos are very inspiring. I would love to follow along with you on the meal planning stages. Thank you!
This menu appeals to me ...I love fruit and veg . Thank you for sharing . I lost my job today . I will use your menus quite a bit . Thank you for all your hard work , much appreciated 🌸
Blossom, so sorry to hear this. I hope you will be able to get unemployment/food stamps/help in the interim. God bless!

I recently purchased sumac spice. It is pretty good and mild. It reminds me of Tajin which is like a spicy, sour salt mix, but minus the spice. I love all your videos! Thank you for posting 😀
I use sumac a lot! It's really common in middle eastern cuisine, which we are very fond of.
I was sooo excited when I saw this pop up!!!!
I have a bit different aspects that I myself would focus on, so I'll pbl have a grocery list like that (I'm from Germany/Denmark, just to keep in mind the different products that are available here)
I would buy potatoes, you can get 4kg for less than 2€ if they're on sale, oatmilk 1€, butter/margarine 80cent, frozen veggies 1kg 1,80€ (if you get the cheapest). I would pbl get some sort of legumes (black beans are my favorite, 50cents per can and I would get two) and some yellow peas (dried) (2€ for 500g)
2kg sack of carrots for 1,20€, whatever fruit I like and that is on sale, a pack of whole wheat toast (55c) a jar of peanutbutter for 1,20 or so or a glass of jelly.
I love it, a sack of carrots! It truly is a sack!😉
I don't rly miss it though haha :D
Soft pretzels are more of a south german thing, except for when you want to bake them up yourself (they are preformed and frozen, but still "raw") I guess I do know more about the danish cuisine than the german haha
@@simonalyneenderz3247 yes! It's even cheaper than to buy them frozen haha
Your breakfast put me in mind of this poem.
This Is Just to Say
by William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which

saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
I remember reading this years ago. LOL Thanks!
love poetry references!
Always loved this poem. Says so much by saying so little.
The "refried" split peas lookes great!
You can also make a great soup with them, we do it a lot here in Quebec!
Yes, I love split pea soup. Hello to Canada!
I love seeing how cheap I can make good meals. I find it exciting when I make a meal for four adults and it costs less than a dollar per person.
Russell, yes it is exciting! Hope your budget is serving you well!
A dollar per person is always my goal, too. We grow our own vegetables, so it's a little easier to keep the costs down, but still a fun challenge!
Everything looked delicious. I would only change white rice to brown rice for taste and nutrition. Not a fan of cottage cheese, would switch to Greek plain yogurt.
Good options, Kenyon.
Just texted this to my sister that lives on a strict food budget. Thanks
I hope it helps her, Juanita. Thank you for spreading the word too!
I’m so addicted to your channel. Your voice is soothing and I’m learning so much!!!! My husband has Covid so we are in quarantine so I’m watching as much as I can in between taking care of a sick hubby abs 6 kids 💚💛💙❤️❄️
I am so sorry to hear you are having these worries and health concerns. Somehow you are keeping it together, mom. My best to you and your family as you go through and get through this. And hopefully he has milder rather than stronger symptoms. If my channel helps you feel good that makes me feel good too. XOXO
I’m the same way when it comes to sweet potatoes! I’m eating one as I watch the video for breakfast. Although, mine doesn’t look as nice as yours lol! I just nuked one and topped it with butter, pumpkin spice, sugar and salt. Still yummy though.
I like all the produce in this menu. Really impressed with the carrots and cabbage idea.
I think barbeque sauce, pasta and eggs sounds like a great recipe, and i am going to try it one of these days. : ) and budgeting even more during these hard times.
That looks so good, especially the cabbage carrot peanut dish with barbecue sauce. I spend too much on groceries, and need to spend less. Great ideas.
Sounds good!
Love your meals my husband and I don't eat meat and I was planning to make split pea soup this week!!
I love split pea soup -- especially in Fall and Winter. Thanks :)
The dinner looks delicious! I would probably serve the veggies over the rice. Thanks for sharing. I love these videos.
Yes, those would have been doable options, Charlotte. Thank you.
Great Job! I look forward to these videos! Thanks so much this series.
love when you make these videos and learn alot from them please keep them coming!
Thanks, will do!
I’ve been waiting all day for this! 🤗
Kroger and Smith's have over ripe produce kiosks,
Reduced meat and day old bakery items, which I shop regularly.
I like peanuts as a meat substitute... Lent
als is also good.. Will try the barbecue sauce .. All looks tasty...
Zsuzsi -- are you a veg'n? I forget if you told me this.
@@TheQuaintHousewife No .. I am not a vegan but find myself eating less and less meat
It’s not in the budget but some dollar stores also carry a teriyaki sauce/marinade for $1 for variety

Great ideas for only 15 for the week. I wasn't expecting much in the beginning. I think i will try some of these ,especially the Cabbage, pnut and bbq dinner. The split peas and carrot meal had that indian food look to it.
I think you will enjoy the peanut dinner especially!
Great meal ideas! I would have bought some eggs in my $15 budget.
Every time I watch your videos.. I learn more... I love that you are able to make really delicious and inexpensive foods.. goes to show, you don't need that much to get a decent well-balanced diet. Thanks again..!! Can't get enough of these videos..!!
Thanks for watching and the feedback, J Marie :)
The cottage cheese toast looked great!
I would take half of the peas and had soup for some meals.
The cabbage looked great and I am going to try it soon!
Thank you for the inspiration!!
These videos actually save me more than they probably should But! I love getting ideas!
Katherine, thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
That was a great video, the stir fry dinner looked delicious. Love your ideas
The cabbage meal looks delicious!
Being vegan, I would probably have gotten a couple more sweet potatoes and grabbed a pound of lentils or black beans instead of the cottage cheese. I'm totally with you on sweet potatoes for breakfast.
Those sounds like good alternatives!
Now, I want some. I got green cabbage for .06 per lbs! The rest of the foods you found were not the same here. I did find a mix of dry beans for $1.69. I did find berries for $1 per pint :)
Very clever meal ideas! This is my favorite kind of video.
Thanks for the great ideas! Your videos are so relaxing and peaceful.
always look forward to seeing your newest creation

That peanut dish looks so good!
Your lunch looks like an Indian dish. I myself am a pescatarian - dairy, fish and sea food. But I'm not strict, I just don't like cooking or touching raw meat.
I don't like that either. I try to get my husband to do it. Haha!
I never thought about the peanut cabbage and carrot stir fry but that looks amazing. Thanks for the great meal ideas

I normally can kind of figure out where you're going with the recipes before you check out, but I couldn't figure this one out until you showed the recipes. Great meals! You are so creative!
Haha, that's a good thing. Thanks Julia!
as someone that has been on Weight watchers for 2 years and lost 125 pounds so far I am so excited how many of these recipes are VERY weight watcher friendly.
Toast and cottage cheese with salsa on top. I used to eat that when I ate dairy.
Oh, very interesting Catherine.
But tbh i do not know Kroger prices but those are my ideas i think you did really good.
amazing Job on the breakfast! The toast looked great!
The peas and carrots dish makes me think of winter. Our temps are dropping a bit. It's chilly here tonight.
Rhonda -- oh yes, temps starting to go down now. Wasn't expecting it that soon! Stay toasty!
ML -- I agree. Crunch makes good! Thank you!
Yes, the crunchiness makes it more satisfying 😊 same reason I like fresh carrots. I agree!
Thank you for all the work you put into your videos. You have great ideas and suggestions. Keep up the good work!
