For me, their music videos lately have been getting more and more better... Like, they had a 6 minuite video of a member of the band being literally waterboarded, no cuts, no anything, just water, a single frame and a guy getting blasted by water from out of frame. Fucking love this guys, their artistry is just unmatched.
They are phenomenal live. One of the biggest changes seeing on the new album is song length. In the announcement for Coma they talk about direction of their brand of Black Metal. All of the albums have the melodic aspect and happy to see the atmosphere and quality of vision are still present. Also, they are one the few BM bands to not have religion as the topic and delve more into psyche and catharsis.
The song and video are great and complement each other well. As I've said before, I'm a fan of masks. I enjoyed your take on their significance and how they can impact a performance. Great way to start a Sunday. Thanks for posting. Cheers!
Bruh. That shit was amazing! The visuals, the moving marble statues with gold divine magic theme was epic, and I love the melodic black metal sound. 9/10 for me. 🤘
You guys were on the exact same wavelength as me - the second I thought “Man, this sounds a lot like Behemoth”, you mentioned it. Great minds think alike! Fun song.
If I’m not mistaken- when the last vocalist departed, the guitarist stepped into the vocalist slot and they picked up the female guitarist. Their prior albums were darker to my ears. As for the vocalists- the current is more aggressive, the former had more… despair in his delivery; almost a tortured sound. Got 11 minutes to spare. “To Ain” is an incredible track. I recommend “Dormant”, “Salve”, “Memoir”, and “Absent” too. With that said, whatever they’re putting out, I’m here for it.
Their *collective* Sigil is a modified version of Asmoday (Asmodeus) which I find fascinating on several levels, esp given their content of psyche and mind - not 'religion'. Thelemic elements abound in their work however, but much less abrupt than say Behemoth (eg O Father O Satan O Sun song - core incantation when Negal speaks is ripped from Liber Samekh (Crowley), which in turn was modified for Negal by his best friend a practising Thelemist - name escapes me at the mo).
The look, the music, the lyrics, there is someting we can't catch in this band that gives the will to follow their work. Also, they wear masks, so we focus on what we hear and see and not on who they are. (even if you can find informations on the internet) Between the three first albums and this future one, the line-up has changed, but who could tell ? Almost nobody, unless if you can see some details that give answers. (the soul is still the same) Each album is a step deeper in their universe, each album is better that the previous one.
The only thing that bugged me is the usage of AI art in the video. Especially shit like 4:53, it just struck me as lazy considering the rest of the video has great production value. I felt like they could've just had someone in a hood do a pose or something instead of an AI image.

A lot of people dont know this but gaerea in Portuguese means banger.

Gaerea is great. Though the aesthetics remind me more of MGLA (a band I also love) than Sleep Token.
@@Zeitgeist6 That is true, but not many people know MGLA.
Comparing black metal bands to ST is disrespectful, honestly. Gaerea's masks are probably inspired by MGLA, ST is just trying to be edgy.
@victorferreira5852 We're just acknowledging a comparison. Saying they were inspired by Mgla is actually disrespectful though.
