    The drummer was fantastic, the sax player was smooth as glass and the conductor was a hoot! Great job to everyone in this middle school band. That was so much fun to watch I had to watch it twice. 👏👏👏

      @@favasoli1 I have played drums since age 3 grew up with a dad who loved jazz and had drums. He introduced me to Gene Krupa and this song early on and it's a very difficult song dynamically for a drummer with the various solos etc. I love watching school bands play it just to see how much fun they have with it regardless of skill, especially the drummers. It's such a bundle of joy to play. I saved it for future entertainment. 😀

    I've never seen a middle school band where the trumpets keep their horns up. Nice Job guys

      Peter Kelly Thank you! They got a lot of encouragement to keep them up during the rehearsals. The girl trumpeter is my student and my daughter, and she didn’t play like that until this concert.

      Yeah no problem! I just graduated from high school and I would see a lot of people with their bells down. It really takes the sound away. Now in college everyone plays with the bells up. So make sure she keeps doing that and she will get far and she will get noticed.

    The reason this band is so good is cause of the hype they get from the conducter. I love it!

    They looked like they were having fun, which is probably why they performed so well. It's all about being comfortable in the environment you're in and being able to unleash yourself without fear of criticism. I could imagine failing a solo and still getting hype from this wonderful conductor. Great job guys.

      Most notably the part right after the drum solo in the beginning, the clarinet solo (we don’t have a clarinet) and a few other things were just simplified in some way. It didn’t sound as good as the original, but you could definitely tell what song it was from hearing it.

    Why is a saxophonists playing the melody, this was written for clarinet, and popularized by BENNY GOODMAN, not Kenny G

    • @favasoli1
      @favasoli1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      derpbearfilms It’s probably because this arrangement of “Sing, Sing, Sing” is for Middle School Jazz Band which generally consists of five saxophonists that don’t need to double on clarinet or flute since they are so young. Kenny G is famous for playing soprano sax, not the alto, tenor, and baritone sax featured here.
