    Nice video. Love that you show how to start brewing with minimal equipment.

    Add chill water when chilling the wort blew my mind. Great video

      Thank you! It’s a great way to chill. It takes a little extra math to make sure the dilution is correct but one of the cheapest ways to do it 🙌

      Also potentially disastrous for the beer as the water won’t have been boiled and could easily lead to an infection. Not good practice at all! Sorry…

      @@davidjennings1256 it's best practice to sanitize EVERYTHING that touches the wort after the boiling process. For the spoon, bucket, equipment-- use a food-grade sanitizer like StarSan. For the chilling water, boil for about 10 minutes, then cover and chill.

    Is it just okay to transfer wort back and forth between to buckets, wouldn’t it be contaminated in the process?

    • @ryanmichaelcarter
      @ryanmichaelcarter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, as long as everything that touches the wort after the boiling process is clean and sanitized

      Thank you! No need to use exactly what's in the video, all that matters is the process

    does it suffice if I use a jar for fermenting and pop the lid slightly every day or so?
    because I haven‘t got anything with a vent

      If the jar is big enough to make a big enough batch, then yes. As a matter of fact if you tighten the lid totally, and then immediately loosen it to the point that air can escape, the fermentation will produce enough CO2 that it will expel oxygen and keep purging it from the ferment vessel as it ferments. I however, wouldn't waste time with a batch less than 20 liters or 5 gallons. But you do you.

      @ryanmichaelcarter  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’d be best to leave the lid slightly loose so the pressure can’t build in the jar
