... I honestly don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said here. Absolutely everything about this track is nothing short of immaculate. The true musical embodiment of Sonic the Hedgehog as a character... or at the very least, his classic self.
Yes there is seven. I was saying that because if you gather time stones for all acts you played so far by the time you reach this level you should have six.
This is bar-none the most "Sonic" a Sonic the Hedgehog track has ever been. When Naoto Oshima oversees his creation, it always stands out. Same with Blinx the Cat.
This is literally and unbreakable diamond of the Classic Era. The slow moments ease you into this free feeling along with the beat before it speeds up and kicks into high gear and zooms off with those orchestra hits and trumpets. The second half repeats the beat, but the instruments used is so relaxing and triumphant. If it weren't for the Guitar in the US version, this one would be a slam dunk for Japan.
I love the way the song's composition mirrors the level design. It starts with very factory-like sections, before getting calm and natural. just like how the level starts with the mechanical cave, then going outside and seeing the beautiful scenery.
I would like to disagree, mainly because this isn't the case for the JP soundtrack. Yeah, Sonic CD as a game is not really talked about anymore, but the soundtrack of it is still appreciated among the Sonic community, having some really iconic tracks (Stardust Speedway Bad Future and Metallic Madness Present, to be specific).
i remember walking into an at&t phone store in sonora, mexico when i was 5 in 2011 and playing on one of the phones. my first exposure to sonic was the sonic cd mobile port demo. this was the sonic track i've ever heard.
This is the best song in the game- it absolutely flawlessly speaks to everything that makes Classic Sonic what it is- fast, fun, intense, playful and with a hint of melancholy. You gotta save this mine from The Doctor- and you’re gonna be way past cool doing it. Now Quartz Quadrant, the stage, is pretty neat. Some pretty nice bits of platforming and exploration interjected with some bits of... well kinda nothing really. The stage isn’t gonna win any awards- but it’s still pretty fun all the same.
something i like about 90s games is how indulgent they are. Things like 3D, huge color palettes, CD audio, etc. was all just starting to become mainstream, and so you had games that were extremely colorful, featured tons of special effects, etc. all just to say "we can do this now so we're gonna f*cking do it". And this track is a great example of that: the composers knew that they could make the music as insanse and bombastic as they wanted to thanks to the CD audio, and so they did. And I unironically love it (and the rest of the soundtrack) for that
This is one of the best songs I have ever in general listened to because it’s so funky and upbeat tbh and the base is ABSOLUTELY amazing it may be the perfect mix between instruments in general
This song gives me the vibe of construction workers going at it, They might lose a finger or two but working together they could make something amazing, Its nature and machine colliding.
For some strange reason, this track style reminded me to City Pop music. And I cannot stop imagining a background voice on this track, as if were a late 80s City Pop song.
They should've made remastered versions for the CD abd Sega Saturn. Instead we got Sonic 3D Blast, which was a strange game to say the least...But still had a bmaging soundtrack.
i was playing sonic cd when my power went out, they were doing construction and had to shut lf the power for i think 2 hours, i almost shit myself when the power came back on and wacky workbench was going full blast in my bedroom
Yeah, and it's a shame. Sonic CD has an amazing OST, and it's the ONLY game soundtrack out there where there is like one definitive reupload of it and I love that
The Japanese didnt want Sonic to be cool but rather to make the player appreciate the natural world and see the vile putrid soulless nature of rampant uncontrolled industrialization. That especially in this game, technology can make a better future for mankind and nature alike.
This zone always seemed like a break after tidal tempest to me, but then after they throw you into wacky workbench, probably the most annoying zone in the game.

Yes there is seven. I was saying that because if you gather time stones for all acts you played so far by the time you reach this level you should have six.
