Plettenberg Bay (2023) or Plettenbergbaai in Afrikaans is the main city of Bitou Local in the Western Cape, South Africa (Zuid-Afrika). It was founded as Bahia Formosa (Beautiful Bay in Portuguese) but nowadays the city is nicknamed as Plet or Plett. The city is located at the South Africa's Garden Route (between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth) and has a population of 30,000. One of the main structures in Plettenberg Bay is the Beacon Island resort on the peninsula.
