You know what's so crazy is as good as Tasia was in the beginning, she's even better if you belieev that's possible. Her growth and command of the role is tremendous compared to her earlier performances for that matter the entire cast has stepped up. fantasia however is on a whole new level. Vocally, acting, body langauge just the whole package. the play itself is even richer and deeper somehow. Tasia is already killing and not softly either imagine what's in store for us lucky FANTASIANATICS!
I saw this play last week and I must say that I was impress. I didnt know what to expect but it was really good. Fantasia was excellent and did an outstanding job. The whole entire cast was on point.
i remember watching the documentary on how the musical was made. The cast was talking about how they could tell when the audience was either mostly white or mostly african american. The african american audiences would talk back and they said they loved the energy that the audience were giving to them at those moments.
Oh Lord I love The Color Purple it's an amazing show but I don't think I would have been able to sit through it had people been hollering and clapping and hooting every two seconds. The show must have gone on forever!
Fantasia wasn't playing the lead in Philly. She was only scheduled to do a few stops on the National tour, DC, ATL, Charlotte, NC and she will be in LA Jan or Feb 2010. It would have been worth going to see anyway because it's a really good play, but with Fantasia it is a life altering experience. Hopefully they'll be shooting the movie of the musical soon and the WORLD will get to see and appreciate the gift called Fantasia
i saw this with and without Fantasia and the crowd and theater reacted the same exact way... the characters take over you and you cant help but get emotional.... and fyi it wasn't just a blacks reaction because Broadway is major mostly white and tourist supported ....
Uhm.......it's already been a movie...so they would just be remaking the movie...and...it was origially a great novel by Alice Walker...but I do love Fantasia though...wish I could see more of her peformance.
How rude of this woman to be screaming like that. People paid good money for their seats, to watch the performance. NOT to have some uneducated person screaming and commenting throughout the entire performance. Shame on you.
could have done without the annoying audience commentary. I like to go to the theatre to watch a show - not listen every other buggers views while I am trying to enjoy whats happening on stage. Whoever kept saying 'You tell em girl' and 'Yes Ma'am' should have shut it or I would have complained to the management.

I saw the play twice with Fantasia and she was phenomenal.
I wish she would do it again. This is one play you should save up to see.
I’m excited to see how her acting translates to the screen.

TASIA is just...... unearthly. She truly is a triple threat. She really embodied this character. Wow.
Oh, he says, "I got six children with this crazy woman."
And she says, "Five." Because she had the sixth with Buster :]

who said anything about Fantasia being in the movie version, though I hope they do make one, I would hate to see/here her singing in it.
Your wish came true

i love your user name
It's "I curse you mister"
How about buying the soundtrack and not downloading it illegally. Miss Celie's Curse is the name of the song.
i know. sadness

That's why I don't sit in the cheap seats !! Black people always talking like they yelling at a movie screen !! You talked though the whole song damn
See thats what i was thinkin...what is the point of making it a movie but my guess i that the movie is gonna be more musical like the b-way version
lol
I LOVE Fantasia, But she’s playing this role like a 70 year old church lady. Her singing is spectacular, her acting not so much!
shes playing a older Celie

The acting in this BROADWAY production is terrible!! They all sound like they're in some chitlin theater production.
YES MA'AM!
