My Dad went to this school in the 60’s, but back then I believe it was a boarding school. He told me that he would get punished by the nuns for speaking Cheyenne. I can’t forget the memory of him telling me that one form of punishment when caught speaking Cheyenne was having to kneel on a broomstick until one couldn’t bare it any longer. He would stay away from Ashland when we visited our Rez, I don’t blame him, The American way of assimilation have definitely had a negative impact on my Dad’s upbringing.
If only you're ancestors had known of the Irish struggle...At the Greasy Grass in 1876 you could have spared the Fenian men in Custers unit and joined them in the fight to free Ireland from London rule!,(By raiding British interest's in Canada),...For that, Washington would have knelt to you in homage!....Cheyenne and Fenian could have rode together into glorious destiny!....Please watch Fenian,(IRA),song>>"The Wolfe Tones - The Valley Of Knockanure"
