One thing I respect about Tori Kelly is she has always credited her African heritage and influences for her soulful voice. And now, she's doing the same with her Christian beliefs. She can easily pass and be a big pop star, but she chooses to stay true to herself. That takes a lot of courage and strength. And God has honored her for it. Always thought she had a beautiful voice and can't listen to this song without crying. So happy for her!!!!! 🙌🏾✨

The fact that she can sign so many notes in a split second is impressive enough, but the fact that every single one of them is dead on is UNREAL. This makes her untouchable !
She could have taken some major deal and dressed and acted crazy but instead went her own way so she could wear t-shirts and stay classy and still ended up on awards shows, talk shows, international tours... Swedish Swede And sing. Not enough mainstream Christian music tries to tell a story in regards to being saved or whatever message they’re trying to convey. If that’s something you’re into, then the Gaither Vocal Band (at least with some of the older line ups) do the trick. It also helps that they had some powerhouse singers back then.
My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I am 65 now but I still remember her singing this like it was yesterday. May this song bring you hope and comfort!

i’m muslim but gospel music doesn’t cease to have a special place in my heart. it reminds me of sufi mystical music that brings all sorts of people together in the muslim world. tori put this magical piece out that almost transcends a single religion. i feel connected by the spirit of monotheism. thanks for this tori 😭
I feel like there’s been so much wondering in your heart. But I see a restriction. Your heart wants to go out and explore. In fact you have before, but you know what that means as a Muslim man. It’s almost like I hear people saying over you, and you think it, “don’t forsake the family.” But I feel like through you listening to Gospel music the Lord Jesus is pulling you in to himself. I feel like I hear, “your mom has called you names, and it’s pained you deeply. A lot of days you’ve wanted to run away.” Gospel music has been your escape from all the noise. I feel the Lord saying come home. I don’t know what “Muki,” means to you but I hear that. I don’t know if that’s a nickname or another name you’re called. But yea the Lord loves you.
