I have been hired at two jobs because I was a disabled Veteran. I was hired through DEI programs designed to help Veterans who usually have trouble translating their military skills to civilian employment. My previous job, I was considered one of the SMEs in my field. So I was a DEI hire AND I was one of the best and brightest in the field. I hate the term “”talent” I am a very proficient composer with high profile credits including Star Wars, Frozen, Iron Man etc. people compliment me by saying I’m “talented”. I cringe when I hear that word. It seems to imply I was born with a gift and it completely ignores the 100 thousand plus hours of practicing, years of private lessons, my college degrees and extremely hard work actually composing the music. My success had very little to do with natural talent, but instead it was years of extremely hard work and a single minded focus on the goal to become highly proficient at creating performing and producing music. I completely agree that we need the most qualified people that have demonstrated a mastery of the skills needed for aviation jobs but looking for Talent is not an appropriate way to approach the situation.

I'm Asian American and a combat US Army veteran, as soon as I walk up to some place like that aka federal FAA and even the VA, just 2 years ago (turned me away REAL QUICK). After my 4 interviews at the VA for a Medical assistance job, the hiring manager would NOT ANSWER my emails or phone calls. I went to countless interviews at the VA, FL (Tampa)---I worked this position for 6 years prior (I lost it due to moving between states) and they still NOT HIRED ME & one guy (had the audacity due to him also a veteran)...LAUGHED AT ME OVER THE PHONE. He "claimed that I was too motivated or hyper or eager to get hired". All because, I was so happy and kept smiling and being humble...yet, he told me that. Disgusting. I hate the term “”talent” I am a very proficient composer with high profile credits including Star Wars, Frozen, Iron Man etc. people compliment me by saying I’m “talented”. I cringe when I hear that word. It seems to imply I was born with a gift and it completely ignores the 100 thousand plus hours of practicing, years of private lessons, my college degrees and extremely hard work actually composing the music. My success had very little to do with natural talent, but instead it was years of extremely hard work and a single minded focus on the goal to become highly proficient at creating performing and producing music. Trump using the term “talent” just shows his ignorance to the notion of hard work. I completely agree that we need the most qualified people that have demonstrated a mastery of the skills needed for aviation jobs but looking for Talent is not an appropriate way to approach the situation.

After my 4 interviews at the VA for a Medical assistance job, the hiring manager would NOT ANSWER my emails or phone calls. I went to countless interviews at the VA, FL (Tampa)---I worked this position for 6 years prior (I lost it due to moving between states) and they still NOT HIRED ME & one guy (had the audacity due to him also a veteran)...LAUGHED AT ME OVER THE PHONE. He "claimed that I was too motivated or hyper or eager to get hired". All because, I was so happy and kept smiling and being humble...yet, he told me that. Disgusting. The DC plane crash is a result of lack of regulations, both the airplane and the helicopter were flying in the same altitude airspace corridor assigned to the airplanes landing at that airport. The helicopter should have been flying at either a lower or higher altitude corridor.
