I know it's an old video but for anyone interested, you can actually tame the Pheonix even without a heat event. If you find an ash pile, you can tame it. Just apply heat to the ash pile. Eventually a tamed Pheonix will appear. You can find them easier and see the actual taming process of you use something like the amazing spyglass mod. But the taming can be done without of course.

"I know where raptors spawn" ... usually right behind you when you least expect it XD. Reason you dont see the ash pile is because they were made invisible due to players building over them to tame or keep others from taming them, was too easy despite a tiny pile of ash being hard to find in a sea of sand lol. A friend of mine named his Phoenix after the KFC guy lol, i personally would call it Pyro or Inferno.
For once a parasaur is actually useful if you brought a cryoed one you could send it out to use it’s ping to detect the ashes

My unicorn cost 175 amber to tame. A Phoenix is easier to find and tame. Do you want to know how it took me two days to tame a lvl 4 unicorn. First when riding my quetz I saw the unicorn. I killed it and revived it in a trap, -74 amber. My stupid server wouldn’t take carrots so I had to make griffin kibble. I had to run lava cave for soothing balms for the griffins. I tamed the griffins and had to buy a pheromone because they wouldn’t mate, -50 amber. I then had to buy snake plant seeds, -10 amber. Then I had to buy cooking slips for the rest of the ingredients, -40 amber. Then I had to sneak up on the unicorn and tamed it in one 100 amber kibble. That’s is why Syntac should never say that Phoenix are harder to tame.

It's the burn from the standard left click attack that wrecks Rock Elementals. It's like a "super fire" that can even light Rock Elementals and Fire Wyverns on fire.
You can use a Parasaurs detection to find the ash pile 😊
Moltres would be a good one, legendary flaming bird pokemon

I really feel like the Phoenix needs a tlc, I just think that the fire flight could have a better animation, and that the attacks could also be a little less stiff. For such a hard to get creature the visuals I think are rather lacklustre

Definitely choose pose no. 2! It shows off the face a lot better.
They are actually quite efficient for metal runs. Stack enough weight and lots of melee, avoid fighting lightning dragons, giant dinos(since you get stuck in them) and griffins. They are a nice alternative to carrying an anky around with a quetz or argy.

I wonder if you can trap them with a cage on a quetzal, would the ash pile still spawn on the ground or in the trap ?

It wasn't on official but I tracked down a pheonix ash pile and used my wyvern on the pile and was able to tame it up. So basically if you have the location of one you can do it without the heat wave. Not sure if that was changed or not . Worth a try though.

The ash piles bugging, instantly disappearing when the superheat ends, in fact, the ash should be there much longer, but that is perhaps more of a feature now. You can see the phoenix's place only using a modded spyglass, and sometimes they are wandering away few tenths of coordinates. you can only hope it spawns inside the trap. By the way there is another bug you can tame them also by burning the place where their "ash pile" lies.
You can see the ash pile using the Parasaur and its turret mode

Whenever I had to trap a phoenix I always just liked to go ahead and use a rare flower then have it chase me into a premade trap. Makes life easier. XD
As for a name, one I always used for my phoenix was Blitz.

The fastest way to tame them was with Oil jars and you could just lay down multiple at a time but they removed that. I think you can still use a torch to hit it but it damages it and yourself.
the only time i tamed a phoenix, it took me 8h to tame -_-
i never got a super-heat. i asked the admin to trigger one...

The devs should make it so you can't freeze phoenixs because they are fire and the should stop the ice. Ik it would make taming harder but it would be better.
If they do that, I vote for them to also add in some insulation on it. Makes no sense to fly on a fire bird and still freeze

My favorite creature in ARK, got one tamed on highest level with my friend with Argentavis and flamethrower metode. Best utility dinos in the game (not counting Gacha), the only thing you level on them is weight since they are not good in combat at all. For a name I propose Axel.

We like it on our server for those who tamed it because we don't use Modern or Tech based stuff, just castle mod some simple mods, really makes Ark and pvp fun again removing guns and shit like that. Similar to AxeMans Series.
