    The loose lens cap problem can be resolved by attaching the soft felt side of an industrial grade velcro tape into the inner side of the lens cap. This increases the friction between the lens cap and the lens hood, thus making the lock more secure.

    Hi Christopher, I know this is an older review but I just wanted to offer my thanks for what is a very thorough and practical overview of this lens. Great work.

    The 8-15 is one of the lost and forgotten lens gems. There is no other lens in the world that offers both a circular and standard fisheye look with zoom. Honestly at the current used price point this lens is a great value buy. Why buy 2 fisheye lenses when you can buy one that does both.

    Mate your reviews are awesome and I use them when deciding to get a new lens. Could you please look into reviewing the new Sigma 24-105 Art lens? And perhaps comparing it to the Canon equivalent because I am seriously torn between the two.
    Cheers!

    Dear Christopher,
    After my experience with ultra-wide angle lenses, I began to have interest on fisheye lenses.
    I have watched your nice review on Canon's famous zoom fisheye.
    However I found out that Tokina has also a fisheye lens which is compatible with FF cameras: Tokina 10-17mm fisheye!
    If you could have a review on Tokina fisheye, the competition would be very interesting since it costs 1/3 or 2/5 of Canon 8-15mm.
    Looking forward for your review!
    Thank you in advance.

    • @christopherfrost
      @christopherfrost  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kaan Aksoy The Tokina will probably fit onto a full-frame camera, but it is designed for APS-C, so you will probably see very significant vignetting. So, it doesn't do the same thing as the Canon 8-15, unfortunately. I haven't tested the Tokina 10-17 - I might do in the future, but it's a bit of a weird option, because when you zoom in to 17mm, it's basically just a standard wide-angle lens, with a lot of ugly distortion.

    • @christopherfrost
      @christopherfrost  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Yousef Ebrahim Depends on what you're trying to do. The Canon lens is more fun and versatile but it costs and absolute fortune. Whereas the Samyang lens is good value, and actually catches a wider field of view than the Canon does at 15mm

    I have a canon ef-s 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 lens on aps-c and getting more into 360 panoramas recently. Would this lens be a significant step up in terms of field of view ? I woudn't consider cheaper alternatives as I plan to step up to full frames eventually. Would appreciate an answer. Thanks !

    Hi Christopher, love your "Vid's", on various lenses. I always go to "You", as opposed to any one else, when I need unbiased, to the point, "Info". One thing though, one can not "Qualify", the word "Unique" it is, or it isn't. One can not say, "It's very", or "It's quite", unique. Keep up your good work.

    • @christopherfrost

      *****
      From what I've heard, the 28-135 is reasonably good on a full frame camera and weak on APS-C. I'll try to review it in a few months' time, I curious about it

    • @Pompadour123
      @Pompadour123 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Christopher Frost Photography I don't know what to choose from the 18-135mm STM or the 28-135mm. Which one has better image quality and fast AF speed? They are both similar price. I have an APS-C Canon T4i.

    • @Pompadour123

      If you're using an APS-C camera (which you are) then you'll definitely want the 18-135 STM over the 28-135. Watch my review of the 18-135 STM, it's a pretty good lens

  • @1AFVeteran

    I would love to have this lens if only it were about half the price! Currently $1249 in the US. Can't understand how Canon can justify the cost for this lens! If they sold it at $625, they would sell more for sure. I'm sure they have made more on this lens than what it cost them to make it by now. Time to lower your price on these lens Canon!

    • @joevarga5982
