  • It has been very smoky in Alberta because of wildfires to the north of Calgary, and riding days have been few because of very poor air quality. I put together this video of advice for people new to cycling. Leave your advice in the comments below.

To add, I’d suggest riding in a group. I was doing solo riding my first year and now that I’ve found some new riding mates it’s a breath of fresh air to draft, socialize and geek out on everything bike related.

As a newb that likes to ride several hours at a time, i find a snack to help get back is a good idea.

About the gear on bikes . I bought a new bike . Trek emonda alr5 . Expensive enough lol. But it has reliable Shimano 105. Group set.
Just think Ultegra crank arms breaking.goes to show the best isn't allways good .

Here's a thought 🤔. I'm carrying a few extra pounds muscle . No many posts on how to lose muscle lol. Losing fat is not bad if your active and easy on beer over 50 lol🍺

If you feel discomfort, numbness or pain on longer rides, get a professional bike fit - it is pricey but it is worth it.

Pump up your tires! Often! As simple as this, but a lot forget to do it.
