Fold your tongue while you read. This helps keep the jawline still from inaudibly murmuring words and gives your mind more focus on the reading of words

I actually have the same problem. Never knew it was a name for it! For me I actually use the same methods...lofi hip-hop is amazing because its calming and relaxes my brain enough to take in information. I also highlight when I read books on a tech subject. I have to combine that with videos and I will pick up important information because its repeated and emphasized both places and sticks in my mind.

I use my finger as well and I've herd if you count whole reading that voice in your head is occupied. Before I read anything I skim the entire chapter this allow my brain to start working on what we about to read so when I start reading I'm grabbing and reading faster because now I'm focusing on the text I skimmed.

I wish you would have discussed more about saying each word internally, challenges when you try to eliminate/reduce subvocalization and appears you are not retaining what you are reading.

You’re welcome. This is a great question! I follow along on the screen with my finger and I chew gum. That keeps me from talking. I hear chewing gum also helps you to remember and recall information better as well. Hope this helps. 🙏🏾

That’s why meta guiding is a useful technique. Go faster than you normally read while placing your finger under the text you’re currently reading and by time move your finger faster.
