- This is the best cheap road bike I could find for under £300 In London. Its from Goku cycles and today I review it. This is the best budget road bike that I could find in 2024. I looked for days on facebook marketplace, ebay and second hand bike stores - after I find this from Goku Cycles and I have been happy ever since. Great bike for the price i think. Enjoy this review!

Congrats on the bike.You struck gold on accident, because it’s actually a fixed gear bike with a flip-flop rear wheel. You may have noticed that there is another cog on the other side of the rear wheel. That is a fixed gear cog. If you buy a pair of foot straps for the pedals, and flip the rear wheel around, you can start riding fixed, which is the giga chad, galaxy brain, latin lover, nobel price winning type of cycling reserved for only the purest of souls. It’s addictive tho. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

IF...the frame is made in Taiwan, and IF....the designers of the bike are skilled, you will get a good frame, the frame is the only thing a manufacturer makes, the rest are standard parts of varying names and quality. Bikes in this price range (mail order) will have extremely horrible wheels/tires and possibly the crankset. These two areas are always where the cheapness is. If you're a strong cyclist it is not safe to ride an unknown crankset, I have broken these in half and the sharp break point can cut your leg to the bone. Wheels even on much better bikes are still crap, even the strongest wheel in the world will last a strong cyclist only 3000 miles. Tires, you might as well throw those out, they will not be safe at all, dangerous is what they are.
i am a former pro racer, been riding seriously for 56 years, still ride high milage today at 66yo, don't own a car. I buy $300 bikes, from Bikes Direct in America, the frames are fantastic, and I get decent parts.....BUT.....but!!!....I don't use the tires or wheels that come on the bike, and unlesst the crankset is a Shimano, Suntour, or FSA, I don't use it either. So, my bike when finished costs about $1000.00, that is the bare minimum for a SAFE bicycle today. You might say why not just buy a $1000.00 dollar bike? That price does not guarantee good anything either, you have to know what parts are good and safe and a history of the frame designer, and the frame made in Tawain.
Don't risk your life by putting a $300 bike on the road with 2-ton cars, make sure it is strong. I use ONLY Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires. Wheels are very difficult to find and know if good, cost means nothing. but you can have your bike mechanic (if experienced) build you wheels using: 1) Mavic rims 2) Shimano Deore hubs. 3) DT stainless 14 gage spokes. Without writing a book in this comment section that is the best I can explain in short for wheels. I've been using Vuelta wheels for 10 years with good results, but the company seems to be fading away. I don't know why?

Only a gifted athlete from birth who has trained for years can ride a single speed bike on anything but flat terrain without permanent injury to their knees. You may be one of the gifted, the rest of us 99.99% of us are not.
Or almost everyone raised in the USA for most of the previous Century.

@@Dyoochoob Yea, all of them will be wrong for climbing. Choose a climbing gear? Can't, the range of choices are very short. For the flats only and for the gifted otherwise. Don't believe me? I warned you all, permanent injury awaits you.
