This is seriously impressive. This game does NOT make it easy to build up momentum but you would never know that watching him play.
This was the original double boost

Now that I think about it, this game was the first one I actually speedran, or at least tried with each individual level, before I even knew what speedrunning was. I tried optimizing every run by finding the best route.
My favorite is the death egg mk2 act 1, I really enjoyed racing metal sonic. I used to play it on my iPad, I should replay it sometime.
See? I don't get why people so hate about this game. The game looks really polished, gameplay looks fun, except for some of the physics, yet regardless, it is a fun game. Because of the stupid classic fanbase, I can't even play episode 3 anymore... T0T

My only complaint is that it's so dependent on tag team moves to get through the levels. On speed runs I just want to shoot like a bullet through the level. If they could've mad a patch for Ep I that would've fixed the minor physics issues And made Episode II more backwards/forwards compatible than they did, then together they could've been one bad ass game. But separately they are SO CLOSE but no cigar. Plus they were both way too short separately too.
Personally I get more replay fun value from Episode I than I do Episode II.
Because Sonic and Tails 69 their way to Eggman.
Oval Circle you're right in a way. The tag moves are forced. Every level should've had a way for Super Sayain Sonic to bust ass through the levels without needing Tails.

I'm a fan of your channel and had an idea to supplement the same, you could Faser videos of each of the phases to separate videos with just a boss and give more fame in his game if he did videos of other games, if quizer of own SEGA using computer imitators, also new games to give more value to know channel.

Why does everyone find this game so bad?
It's a bad example of what a Sonic game should be. Physics aside, the level design is extremely simple and when it does get more difficult it's because of bottomless pits. The levels are over loaded with homing attack chains, springs, speed boosters, and other segments where you're just mindlessly holding right.
The name is what pisses people off the most though, it's supposed to be a sequel to Sonic 3 and its not anything like that game at all. Not to hate it you like it but there are a lot of reasons people don't

TheLazyKirby57 sorry my answer was a bit long winded. If you have played any of the classic games (Sonic 1-3K and CD) Sonic 4 is very different and it upset people since it was supposed to be a sequel to those games. That's the main thing
