Molly is the personification of NOT overplaying flatpicking guitar. True artistry. Her singing will entail several other volumes!
Her voice and the guitar= heaven! It's like listening to a duet!
I first heard this video last year when deciding what Martin guitar I wanted. Now I am very fortunate to have a martin d18. Molly has quickly become one of my favorite artists.

Yes. Billy Strings is a fantastic guitarest and singer. You should check out the youtube video by him called sound check. He plays three songs 2 of which were originally done by Dock Watson. He can play just like Dock. Another great d18 that martin has put out is the authentic 1939 D18. I heard youtube clips of both an original 1939 d18 and the authentic model and they are extremely close in sound. Go martin!!!!
Molly Tuttle is one of the best if not the best female artist/ musician out there today. Look back at what she's done in her short years and you'll be amazed. There's no one that plays guitar like her - I think David Grier would be amazed at her cross picking.

Agreed about the similarity of cross-picking style .. pure alternating up-down strokes. Didn't' think anyone could ever master his style; nice to be wrong.

This video is fantastic!! Molly is a very good guitarist and a wonderful singer. What a voice. I have a martin d18 that I absolutely love. I play more traditional country then Molly's brand of music. But the great thing about the d18 is it is such a versatile instrument. You could play any kind of music on it and it would sound great. I don't know what kind of strings she used, but they sound great. I recommend Elixir strings
I'm pretty sure the D18 is her usual weapon of choice.
She more recently plays a Collings.

hi, a simple question. D18 is satin or gloss finished? I found a pre-2012 model (closed tuners), but top, back and sides are satin.. well not completely satin but definetly not that shining gloss of 2012 D18...

Do you recall what kind of pick she uses? I have a D-28 and the pick makes such a huge difference in tone and definition.
intrsoul Strings are night and day also. I got stuck on the same strings for decades only to find they changed and much better ones were out there

@buz butler - thanks for tip... but holy cow 35+USD for a pick! I'd lose it in a week. I thought the acrylic picks I use (~6USD) were pricey. Do you know what material Blue Chip uses?
intrsoul Sometimes they offer free shipping. I was hesitant because of the price too, but once I took the plunge I was glad I did. I use both flat pick for my Martin, and thumb pick for my dobro. The reason they are pricey is because they use a material that Nasa used for seals on the space shuttle. Because of the cost of the material, it took about 4 years for them to find out how they could produce them at a price the public could afford. It is a little pricey, but I've used my Blue Chips for over two years now and neither one has a scratch on it. I also hold it to the fire on my cigar and it doesn't phase it. Probably the last picks I will ever buy short of losing them, God forbid!
