    my mom has passed me down one receipe and the trick is, do not blend the spices. Use a manual pounder. I tried both, and indeed there is a taste difference. If u use a blender, the taste will somehow be more blend, whereas if u do manual pounding of the spices, it will taste richer. Trust me and try it out on your own. I didnt believe it but after trying, huge difference to the taste.

    Rendang is Indonesian origin from Padang in West Sumatera. Adopted by the Malaysian too. Very Delicious. Indonesian foods are mostly really good.. Unfortunately, they are under rated.

    I must say, It looks like the recipe for Ayam Masak Merah, except for the toasted grated coconut.

    • @TasteofAsianFood
      @TasteofAsianFood  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a lot of similarities between 2 recipes. However I do not use kerisik in ayam masak merah.
      You can take a look of the recipes over here.

      You can, but the flavor is slightly different. Add more ginger to balance It.

    What is galanggang?

    • @TasteofAsianFood
      @TasteofAsianFood  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Galangal looks like ginger but harder and has tougher skin. It is, however, tastes differently from ginger and therefore cannot be used interchangeably.
