I was thinking the same thing! The whole world needs to reform these deficits of care for mothers. I hope you do this, Kylie.. in America, it’s the same.. a mother has her baby in her room after the delivery. And there is no assistance to help her as she is hugely vulnerable and exhausted.. I had 4 children one was an emergency C.. still the same type of recovery. Exhausted mom, baby crying.. no assistance

What a relief to hear the update regarding Raffealo's birth story. I'm so glad you had a happier, much more honoring birth this time. You deserve that. What an amazing divinely guided Christmas Eve and what a beautiful Christmas gift! You never deserved to be treated so awful during the birth of Gianfranco. You're such a beautiful soul, Kylie. Kylie, I am a nurse in the US A and worked in the labor and delivery department of the hospital for 15 years of my career. I have worked in multiple hospitals since I have been a nurse for 40 years and none of them here use that ward system anymore where you would be in a room with other women. They have all had private rooms fortunately. Also, the nurses can take the baby to the nursery in most hospitals so that the mother can get some rest. It’s unfortunate that Italy does not adopt this kind of systemin their maternity awards.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear that you had a very positive experience in the hospital this time. I watched your video about delivering John Franco and how you were treated and it just broke my heart that this special time in your life was made so difficult by your circumstances there and the treatment you received from the staff. Thank you for sharing this video. As usual, I found story so inspiring, and to see you dancing around to Latin music with your big pregnant belly just gave me so much joy and put a smile on my face!

Hi Victoria, I'm American but live in the UK. I think most of the hospitals here in Europe are the same. It's been my experience that the hospitals in the USA are so much better than here. My husband has been in a mixed ward here in the UK with women and men, 8 total in one room and the bathroom was down the hall, not even attached to the room. It was horrible. Thanks for doing the work you do.

When I gave birth here in Canada, I had a private room afterwards, and the nurses took the babies to the nursery and brought them to the mom's when it was feeding time or at certain other times if requested. The husband of course was allowed to visit/be there, as it seemed most of everyone's family. No restrictions on people. I know people who besides their husbands, also had their moms their sisters etc in delivery with them too!

      @@Laura-g1c1lit’s the same in Australia
The father is encouraged to spend as much time as possible with the mum and baby
      Grandparents and siblings also
And in fact the nurses here in oz make sure the mums are being looked after as in regards to rest if the baby is unsettled they take them to the nursery or just so the mum can have some me time
They even allow the parents to go out on a date and take care of the baby so that the parents have time alone without worrying about the baby!
I’m shocked at how Italy treats the mothers in hospital not giving them rest and time to recouperate and for only allowing the dad and family time during visiting hours only!
      Sad
Congratulations on the birth of Rafaello
Your so blessed to have your parents with you
Take advantage of that and sleep as much as u can whilst your son is with others ❤ god bless Kylie 🙏🫶

Congrats for this new chapter for you and your family 🤍 My 2 kids have suffered cow’s milk protein allergy their first 6 months giving reflux, sleepless nights and many other symptoms. I was 100% breastfeeding and the protein was coming through my milk. I stopped everything with animal milk, it took 2/3 weeks to see the effects but then they were sleeping more than 2 hours straight. It was hard for me but soooo worth it to not watch them suffer. Wishing you all the best and all my strength for this newborn phase 🙏

In France public hospital usually gave you a tiny camp bed for your partner to stay with you day and night. And some of them are starting to reopen day time visits as everything closed after Covid. I did not move from my bed both time I stayed, having my husband taking care of talking to nurse and baby care, I can not imagine what is must have been like 😢

Gosh, as a woman who has had two babies, each with its own unique story I FELT for you soooo much. It is the most vulnerable time for a woman and she should be totally cared for from beginning to end. I'm just astonished at the lack of compassion in what sounds like most Italian hospitals. Thank goodness your birth was a kind and good experience , just wish the after was what it should be for ALL women. Bless you and your little one. Please take time to care for yourself. We will all be here when you are rested and ready to fully come back, okay? The hospital didn't gift you this, but you can gift it to yourself now. Much love.

Oh, Kylie! You are so positive...even when retelling such a challenging story. In the U.S., I had a c-section with our twin boys and they set up a bed next to me for my husband to be with me the whole time. All friends and family members were encouraged to visit if I was up to it and I was! The first night after their birth, the hospital staff served us a delicious steak dinner while the nurses cared for our babies for a short time. Each nurse imparted helpful parenting tips and advice that really got us off to a great start.
The Italian birth experience doesn't sound as respectful of the mom as the experience I had. So happy all went well and you are home with your beautiful family! You are a treasure!

Holy cow.. what an experience! Congratulations! I had a completely different experience.. but all good. I went home after one night because I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t have any problems so I could go. I’m sure everyone has different ideas about nursing etc… I nursed both my babies. My daughters did as well .. but one daughter had twins so she had to pump and feed, it was a real crazy time! But the pumping ahead made it so others could feed one while she nursed the other and you can make sure how much your baby is actually eating. It’s also nice for the dad to get to hold and feed his babies. And swaddling was a huge deal for calming and sleeping. Maybe you know all this already. I’m so happy for you all and thank you for sharing!💖

wow! How beautiful listening to you at 12 minutes into your video, you talk about no matter where are you, you would have that baby, you knew everything would be fine. Yes! KYLIE, thank you so much for saying that. We are in control. I just wish more people would realize we are in control. Stop giving up all your control to all these people. The words of fear they put into us, the scare they put into you. Like you said this is such a natural thing. I love how you had the confidence in yourself to feel that.

My eyes are welling with tears hear how kind and wonderful they were at this hospital. I could feel your complete release into peace and safety after hearing the way she expressed that nothing like that would happen to you at their hospital. Kylie, this is exactly what you deserved to experience the first time, and I promise you, the issues you had the first time around were due to their negligence and harmful behaviors and choices. Despite a very abuse and horrible first experience of having a hospital birth, you were so incredibly strong and decided that no matter what you wouldn’t let anyone impact your safety or mental peace this time around. I am so amazed by you, and you should be so incredibly proud of what you have accomplished. If this is your last child, what a beautiful note to close this chapter of your life on. Thank you for being a radiant expression of how to fully embody your power as a woman. Sending you so much love as you are dealing with restless night and the second round of countless transitions. You are weathering it with so much grace.

As far as post-birth experience, I am completely shocked that the hospital system works in that way where you are not given the family support you need during those delicate hours after birth. It is essential for new moms to have that support so that you can rest, and to have dim lights and a quiet space. You are so strong, and you should be so proud of yourself. In regards to the chance event that a women fell asleep and suffocated her baby, it likely was due to additional factors, perhaps she was also on drugs. The studies that express the dangers of cosleeping are mostly referencing parental situations that involve alcohol and drugs causing these dangers. Without those factors, and a safe sleeping environment (no soft items close to or on baby that could cover their face, it is very unlikely that you could suffocate them, because our evolutionary drive waking and sleeping will keep us from doing this at all costs. I co-slept with my daughter from the first moment, and she is strong healthy, and there wasn’t even once that I was concerned that I might be endangering her. If it feels right to you, don’t fear it.

Hi Kylie... Congratulations to you and your family and thank you for a lovely video. I am a midwife in a private hospital in Adelaide, Australia, and the partners here stay every night with a pull out bed and are fed all meals as well. As a midwife, I mostly love having them present to help out and enjoy the first few days of their baby's life. We also offer antenatally classes for dads only, which we find is very helpful for them.

Congratulations for your sweet healthy baby. Thank God for your better than first experience. Kylie 23 years ago i was born my son. He is my first child and wehave experienced this issue with reflexes. Hard times, i was alone in a foreign country Germany and i didn't speak german at all. My baby suffered and after few months we have found that he had intolerance in every kind of milk. You can imagine the struggles. Big difference for your diet that is good for the baby as well is sauerkraut, or anything like this. I hope little Raffaello and Gianfranco have a beautiful healthy and happy life. ❤

Hi Kylie, i remember my first time as a mum and was very blessed to have a friend who was a midwife and into natural births. I ended up in hospital but she cared for me and my son for 2 weeks after in her home and it was heavenly to get that support from a strong woman who respected motherhood and gave me time to bond with my baby and take all the outside pressures off me. We mums need every bit of support we can find. Sadly its not allways available but i see how blessed my son and I were. God bless you too dear Kylie and i pray you will have all the loving support you need at this special time. Much love to you, Sally xx❤

Oh, Kylie! My heart totally goes out to you! I'm from the USA & at least during our hospital postpartum days, the nurses will help keep your newborn in the nursery at long intervals to help you catch up with sleep! I didn't know that Italy didn't assist like that! And if you can't have any family with you to help you, that's quite a huge negligence because it takes everything you have to go thru your labor & delivery and then your cup is bone dry for at least a couple of days! You have used😮 all your stores up physically and mentally by then and you have to be cared for yourself for a while before you can give good care to your baby!
And then to have your baby and so much pain after feeding and then before you know it you have to feed him again, that is just what happened with me and my first born decades ago! It's so demoralizing & discouraging to be in constant demand & your baby not be soothed by your best & most loving efforts!
I am an old lady now, but I still recall how desperate I would feel from sheer exhaustion being in such constant demand that I couldn't even think straight & then I felt like such a bad mother for not being able to soothe my baby! We can only go so long without sleep before we start feeling crazy & desperate! God bless you & soothe your little newborn's system so things move & work exactly as they should! Don't give up! 🙏🙋‍♀️🫂🌠

@@KylieFlavell❤ I had one child almost 44 years ago (in America) and she started sleeping through the night (mostly) at less than a month old. She had no problems and within a couple months slept 12 hours a night and took 2-3 3 hour naps a day. For 3-4 years! I was so lucky I know. Anyone could have been in the hospital with me. But no one was round the clock. I had no parents or family help. They were all far away. I had the choice of not having the baby in the room with me while I was in the hospital 6 days because of a cracked tailbone at birth. The choice was normal at that time and I didn’t know then what I know about the importance of bonding immediately with the mother. I couldn’t get out of bed with her in my arms for maybe 9-10 days. I was treated like a queen during delivery I know it’s because I knew the delivery nurse. It was a great hospital stay. I hear all of that has changed since then. The baby stays with the mother from birth. I also wonder if maybe one of the reasons people can’t be there with you 24 hours is because you were in the room with others. There was only one other in my room. Now most people I know have private rooms. I would have preferred that. Glad you’re ok and every day should get better til you get to the stage you are with your first born. 🩷😊

Your video touches me in so many ways, from beginning to end. This is such perfect timing for me. I’m watching this as we wait for the call that our youngest daughter is going into labor with her first child literally any hour in the next few days. I’m remembering my own three birthing experiences and those first days, weeks, and months with each child as I anticipate how my husband and I (now retired) can help our daughter and son-in-law in the best way in the early days. We can possibly stay in their house as they need us or stay nearby in an Airbnb and go back and forth as needed for a few days now and then. Thankful we’re only a few hours away and can go to assist now and then, letting them become a family - hopefully helping, not interfering. Hearing you relate your experiences with your two children’s births and infant stages reminds me how different my three were and that my daughter’s experience will be very different as well.
Wishing you and your family all the best in this early transition time. It’s different for each of us but you have prepared well and your family will thrive.

Hi Kylie, You’re such a natural raconteur who’s so relatable. Love all your videos especially this one! I’m in my late 50s and all I could think about as you were talking was how I could help my own daughters when they ever decide on motherhood. I want to be there in whatever capacity, because I understand what it feels like. You took me straight to memories of my own pregnancies and how different they were. My first bubba with terrible reflux (Dr advice back then was that babies grow out of it) but the nights were exhausting. The second bubba was a dream child. I distinctly remember though, my strongest need to get home while I was in hospital. I just wanted familiarity, my bed, the sounds and smells of my own home -it made the second experience a lot better for me (and the confidence that medically everything was ok for us to head home.)
Stay strong, and may you have an abundance of love and support. You have a lovely family who love you very much and a community of people who genuinely care about you. 💐💐💐💐💐

Hi again, just wanted to say how my heart goes out to you as i recall my son had colic too and i endured many weeks of broken sleep. I honestly thought i was the worste mother and a big failure. I ended up having to take time to rest while my baby was cared for by others. It was awful to separate from him but i knew i was not coping well. It was hard to be away from him but i had to rest and recover. Seeing him again after 2 weeks rest was wonderful. I never told him about that as i allways felt guilty that i wasnt coping. Hearing your story has helped me to recall the exhaustion and i can forgive myself. Bless you for your honesty and i know other mums will find your story helpful and reassuring.
