This video is a hot mess but I hope someone finds it helpful. Or funny. Find me on Twitter: x.com/Taxkha Tumblr: www.tumblr.com... instagram: / taxkha Cara: cara.app/taxkha
this is really good advice!! until recently i had a phase where i almost exclusively drew on scrap paper (like the backs of old letters or school worksheets) because my perfectionism got so bad that i couldn't draw on nice paper without it stressing me out. now i've finally started to use a sketchbook again, and i have to keep reminding myself that i'm allowed to draw ugly trash inside it. because it's true!! ugly trash is part of the process, and the process is art in itself. i can also vouch for the "use anything other than pencil" advice - i started drawing most of my sketches with ballpoint pen and even though it sounds counterintuitive it really helped me stress less about mistakes. if it's there, it's there.
A variant of the sticky notes tech (it looks great btw !) is plain painter's tape : one layer to allow for the drawing underneath to faintly show through, and two or more layers to completely conceal it. It even has an interesting texture to draw on. (Loving the somewhat careful stepping on the sketchbook :D)
This is actually the first time someones advice has worked for me so yay! Thank you! Also I screamed "MILES EDGEWORTH?!" When it got flipped open hehehe
Awesome video!! I've struggled with perfectionism when it comes to art my whole life, and starting to treat my sketchbook more like a fun experiment than this very serious thing that must be presentable really helped me loosen up and for my sketches to feel more organic and confident :3 soo great tips!
Im glad you found it helpful and Im happy for you that you managed to be less stressed by it! Perfectionism is a tough beast to fight but art becomes a lot more fun when you allow yourself to mess up x)
Great advice! I'll make sure to keep these in mind when I start a sketchbook 😎 Also enjoy the thought that I drew you in 2 watches of this video and you'll just stay in my procreate for who knows how long
@@Taxkhaeh nvm, since you wanna see it I tagged you on Cara lol It’s not a masterpiece but it was done in 10 mins so I hope your expectations aren’t too high
