According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), to meet the announced pledges and commitments made throughout the globe, carbon capture and storage (CCS) capacity needs to increase tenfold over the coming decade. We've seen a lot of very exciting progress on this front, policy developments, incentives in North America and Europe, and regulatory frameworks being put in place. However, despite the momentum, there are still only a handful of projects every year that reach a final investment decision and actually enter construction. Though there are a lot of things hindering progress, the key concerns are related to long-term economics and costs.
