    Your solar panels are perfectly mounted, high above the cockpit, nothing else around that makes shade to it and you can swing them to the sun in a perfect angle. Thumbs up !

    What an incredible way to spend your honeymoon, and the perfect itinerary! Carlo has sailed from Italy to Corsica and has promised that we'll do the trip together one day. We visited Porto Venere and Cinque Terre a couple of years ago and plan to return in the near future, this time experiencing the towns from the sea - Helen

    As great as this video share is, the best part here is that you respond to every comment. As an experienced cruiser, 10,000 miles, may I say that the best of sailing at nite, by far, is the stars! It's much better than anything during the day, as good as that is. Great video! I follow both of your channels. I'm wondering if you can do a video about how you made your folding tender at some point!? I have a 28ft sailboat and have been passively looking for a tender solution for a little while now. The little I saw of yours in this video looks perfect for what I'm looking for! Thanks again for the quality content. Keep up the hard work and your channels will gather a huge following!

    • @SailingBritaly
      @SailingBritaly  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe, thank you for your kind comment. :-) I do have a video about the DIY folding tender on my to-do list. I love our tender and the plans are fantastic - even for someone who has never built anything in wood before. Here's a link to the plans so you can check them out at your leisure. I built a 8 foot Origami:
      www.woodenwidget.com/idevaffiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=219_0_3_1
      (The above link is an affiliate link so if you do decide to buy plans, we get a little commission - this costs you nothing and I would heartily recommend the plans to anyone even without this incentive!)
      Thanks again for your kind words - positive comments from people like you are really heartwarming and encouraging for us.
      Fair winds!

      Sailing Britaly thanks for the reply and link to the plans! I actually was able to find the wooden widget website by doing some research of my own. From your video it looked like you opted for the "origami" I think I'm going to go for the "fliptail". I'll definitely use your affiliate link for the plans purchase.
      Have fun out there on the Britaly!

    • @SailingBritaly
      @SailingBritaly  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe - the best thing about wooden widget is Benjy, the guy who makes and sells the plans. He's a really nice guy and is very friendly and helpful. You can see his personality in his plans and instructions, which even cover such things as how to varnish properly. Also, they plant 5 trees for every set of plans sold, which is a lovely initiative. Whatever plans you buy, building your own boat will be one of the most satisfying things you have ever done. Cheers, Chris (& Rossella) :-)

      Hi there! Thank you very much for your comment. Italy is a stunning country and exploring it by boat is a wonderful way to enjoy it! The Church we got married in is the Church of St Peter in Portovenere. We fell head over heels in love with the church when we saw it, and we still can't quite belive that we managed to get married there. It was a dream come true! 🙏

    hi - we're planning to sail explore in the same area this summer (if covid allows!) and wondered if there are enough decent anchorages in this northern part of Italy where the marinas seem very expensive also we prefer to stay out where possible - even our small old catamaran gets hit with extra charges. Do you use the same base marina usually ? We are probably hoping to use Genoa as a base since we live just north of Milan. Many thanks

    • @SailingBritaly
      @SailingBritaly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We always managed to stay at anchor while we were cruising (the boat was based in La Spezia, where it was moored while unattended). I don't see any problem at all with doing this, but then I was happy to anchor off Deal pier before my channel crossing, so I'm probably more of a fan of anchoring out than most people. :-) Enjoy your trip and the isolation of your own little floating island where you can live by your own rules. Much needed at this moment in time. Cheers, Chris

    Great video, thanks for sharing. Is that a UK registered boat and if so what paperwork did you need for Italian waters. Could you also state the boat type? Many thanks, and happy sailing!

    • @SailingBritaly
      @SailingBritaly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, the boat details are all here: th-cam.com/video/pyXmGkZazDM/w-d-xo.html Vincero was registered on the SSR (£25 for 5 years). Never got asked for anything other than insurance docs, although we had everything required by law (VHF & PLB registration with OFCOM, Short Range Certificate to operate the VHF). Owning a boat as a Brit is a million times easier than if we'd have registered her in Italy. Cheers, Chris 👍

It's great to be able to share the load 50/50. We were tired when we arrived though, and were very happy to take some time to relax! Buon vento, Chris & Rossella 👍

      London is where we met (in 2005) so it is a very special city for us! Kids add another dimension, or two, on to every journey. As you say, you have to modify your plans around them but the rewards of travelling with kids make it well worthwhile! Sardinia is absolutely stunning and we definitely want to go sailing there at some point. :-)

      HI there, it was a calm night so we had the full mainsail and a partially furled genoa. It was very dark and we basically only had starlight to illuminate the water ahead of us until the moon rose, which meant we were really straining our eyes to see what was ahead of us. After the moon rose we could see for miles! Fair winds, Chris & Rossella 👍

      Hi Michael, we filmed the footage on our honeymoon a while back and we are editing and uploading it now from home. We didn't have any proper internet access during our trip and we 'detoxed' from internet during the entire trip. It would have been very useful for weather forecasting though... Fair winds, Chris & Rossella 👍

      +codmander We knew exactly where we were ($100 hand held GPS + paper charts) and we kept a constant watch throughout the night, so we were no risk to others. Our only concern was hitting floating objects / debris. Thanks for watching, Chris (& Rossella)

    Sailing in open water and at night without wearing lifejackets? Another rookie mistake...

    Oh no, my man!
    Marriage in the West is one of the worst things a man can do to his future - with the POSSIBLE a exception of committing a serious felony.
    With all the info that’s available out there, how did you make that mistake bro?
    You’d learn the hard way, unfortunately.
