Druw jones is the number 1 prospect in this summers draft - he hasnt been drafted yet but oriols have the number 1 overall pick so i guess the roster u downloaded just assumed the they would pick him

Just a few pieces of advice for you Kenny...
1. There is sliders and moving the trade slider down by 1 will make the crazy unrealistic trades happen less.
2. Yes, start Adley versus both sides. It will help his development be more balanced
3. Druw Jones is still in high school and has not been drafted yet, but is the number 1 prospect in the upcoming draft.
8:40 Druw Jones still hasn’t been drafted yet, he’s still in school, so I’m guessing the roster you downloaded assigned him onto the Orioles

Loving this idea for a series!
In terms of roster moves off rip, I would make sure your bench is balanced. The AI has it so you have 3 catchers off the bench, you should only have 1, maybe 2 catchers off your bench. Your 6 bench players should include 1 catcher, 2 infielders, 2 outfielders, and then anyone you want.
For the lineup, I would suggest moving Mullins up to 1 or 2 and dropping Urias or Mateo down to the 9 hole. You want Mullins and Mancini to get as many at bats as possible, so they should both be in the top 3 of your lineup.
I would play Mancini at DH and Mountcastle at 1B, but I’m not sure who has better defensive stats. Whoever has the highest fielding should play.
I would work the FA pitcher market to see if you can get any veterans in there. It’s not uncommon for pitchers at the end of their careers to sign with a non-contending team to try and resurrect their careers. I would start Grayson Rodriguez at AA or AAA if you sign some starters, and if you do, I would flip them for prospects at the deadline and call up Rodriguez when he hits 70 or so overall.

Also, there is a slider setting. You can lower the trades by 1 to make it a little more realistic, maybe even 2. Id recommend if you are using injuries putting it up one for gameplay injuries and down one for simulation injuries.
Just some MLBTS tips:
-Don't call up prospects *too* early. It will mess up their development, Adley should be fine but Grayson I would send down. My personal minimum overall is around 70 or 75, or maybe if they have considerably outperformed AAA?
-Ik you said you won't handle 40-man and such, but it may be better to do it manually so that nobody gets called up when you don't want them to, or sent down, vice versa. The ideal 26-man setup for me at least was 13 pitchers-13 hitters. I don't think you can call up more than 13 pitchers, though.
As for the Orioles specifically, with that roster I would probably look to sign starting talent in free agency. No harm in getting rentals to flip at the deadline as you wait for Grayson to develop.
Kenny there is a slider for a few thing like Trade frequency. I highly recommend turning it down it won't help bad trades from happening but at least it will slow them down alot. In past games I pretty much turned it almost all the way down. It's helps out alot

Also on the first day the game usually generates young 50-60 overall free agents with one or more of them having a potential.

Bruh, do not buy switch version unless you like 30fps mid graphics.
Only buy the Switch version if that's your only system the PlayStation and Xbox versions are way better
What I like to do is play one game a series and have quick counts on so it speeds it up a little. For me this is a perfect speed so that you don’t fly through the seasons but it also doesn’t take forever

Just a quick suggestion when you simulate games you can use quick manage to make personnel decision related to each game and it only takes a couple of minutes per game. Also either start your top prospect or send him to AAA leaving him on the bench is not a good idea.

I would sign a starter or 2 out of free agency and leave Grayson Rodriquez in triple A, his bb/9 is pretty low so he could struggle in the majors
For playing games, I recommend playing 1-3 games every 2 weeks or so. That’s usually what I do for my own franchises and you can still get through a season pretty fast.

Little tip for Franchise. Make sure most of your position players have secondary positions. Just find the best based on there stats. It doesn’t mean they’ll play those positions often, but when they do they won’t lose attributes for playing “Out of Position”

What I like to do is, play the full first game. Quick manage second game (Hop in if theres a close game at end), and then playerlock the final game to highlight a certain player.

While yes adleys progression is essential, the catcher position is one of the main spots you platoon at, because of its physical demand, so it wouldn’t hurt his progression too much to only play him about 100 games and overall would help his health in the long term
As someone who is a big fan of MLB the show franchise mode I can give you this piece of advice Kenny:
Learn how the 40 man roster works sooner than later, so you can turn it on manual.
The computer likes to add prospects or guys you want in the minor leagues to the 40-man roster. It can potentially mess up your vision for a team and could potentially harm that players development if they are stuck in the Majors.

KOT4Q. Focus on contact vs righties and discipline. Pitchers both starters and relievers need to have a high walks per 9. These are the keys!

I would go month by month to start off so you can work on scouting and get a sample size of how players are doing. Also there is a sim cast that is pretty neat that allows you to watch games like if you were following on ESPN. It gives you control of the way your players hit and pitch, also you can pull pitchers if they are doing bad. If there is an important series like Orioles vs Yankees this is a fun way to play without having to spend 40min in one game.

I always personally have a scout from every region but it doesn’t really matters because of its set to auto-scout they’ll just put any guy from any region to a scout. Also I would play a few games and sim until the draft before making any trades. That way you could kind of just see who’s doing well in both the minors and majors and then just see who you need to upgrade. The trade system has always been way too unrealistic so you could get away with some steals for sure but also if you trade someone and want him back you’ll have to give up more than what you got for him just to get him back. Honestly just have fun with it. Explore the mode and learn the names haha
