“There’s so much more I want to accomplish and have in my life other than a career.”
People can knock on her all they want, but it’s clear to me that her humanitarian work was something she’d genuinely wanted to pursue many, many years ago. The drive for something more purposeful when you’re seemingly at the top of the world is inspiringly.
She has come a long way from what she was going through at that time with drug abuse, self harm and being kind of lost. As she confessed later she was lucky to survive that time. Not only has she beat those demons, but she has become one of the most respected, rightfully admired people on the planet.
She seems like the sort of person you'd be lucky to be friends with - very empathetic, no BS, and very intelligent.
Im glad she adopted Maddox...i think that kid saved her life in more ways than one and when she got the other kids..it sealed the deal and she was finally grounded. No longer high.

@@Tyson-zo6smsame I'm almost 54 now but in the 80s and 90s I was addicted to heroin and I almost died many times I started taking drugs when I was 13 and I didn't stop until I was 32 because my son was about to be Born I've got 5 kids now

What was the interviewing strategy here? Ask a question and just let her ramble awkwardly for ages without giving her anything to work with? It might work with an experienced older actor but not a person in their early 20s who's still figuring things out.
Same thoughts, but I loved her perspective. Lisa was lost, maybe sociopathic. However I think overall the character was frustrated and angry. She could have been cured with a support system. At that age though, your still trying to figure yourself out. You don't want some strange adults telling you how, you, should feel. I was battling an eating disorder when I saw this movie. Every character really changed my views on mental illness. Winona had it pegged in the movie. Let it all out, it does help. Even if the act of asking for help is considered shameful and stigmatized still to this day. Smiles aren't for everyone lol. If your lucky. . ☺️🤗♥️

Yep, you're definitely right. Some people keep dragging her down because of her past and i also keep repeating to them that she already changed. One of those haters i fought was a CEO of 3 Companies and i am just a student who literally understands what are the words CHANGE and PAST. Like what, that CEO is a boastful person.

She was reacting honestly as a young woman facing some messed up things. I wish, in the film that they hadn't taken her down for it. In time, if they had seen those things themselves, they would have thanked her.

Definitely, you can see it in her eyes and her little mannerisms here.
Actually, she makes a lot of sense she's just not explaining herself too well. She's basically saying how they portrayed her character as a villain, when in reality Lisa is a very honest, real, raw and genuine person.. and people should want this truthfulness, like the patients at the ward do. She's a leader and follows what she wants, yet all her qualities are vilified and condemned as insanity. And this is what Angelina thinks is what's actually insane.

This is when she was a Great Actress, then Hollywood took her soul, this and Gia I think is her best.
I don't think hollywood took her soul, she was doing drugs before she was even doing movies in her late teen years. She still is a good actress she done By the Sea only a couple of years ago and she was great and Changeling in around 2009 (I love them both). Her kid definitely encouraged her to help other people and be a better person.
Foxfire, Gia and Girl Interrupted are her best I think.

@@Eve-hb i mean i work with a lot of drug affected patients as a social worker, and am a big fan of angie. You can for sure compare her style of speech to later interviews when she seems less depressed and/or clean- it is a little bit delayed and a lot of run-on sentences, as well as just her facial expressions- wondering eyes. I feel like the people commenting are pretty valid bc it's not like a mainstream clip, you would surely have to be a follower of hers to see what's going on because it's not noticeable. She can for sure handle herself which is probably part of why (she's spoken about drug use in this time) it could have gone on in public appearances etc

actually the real Susanna kaysen wrote in the book that she did see Lisa years later while shopping at a mall. She was straightened up and even had a son. So real life was a happy ending. Also the real Lisa was not as extreme as Jolie’s portrayal, according to kaysen.

Anyway, I'm watching this in 2021 to determine how much her voice has dropped over the years. I'm fascinated by the way the human voice changes with age.
