Brooklyn is the most animated borough out of NYC! Within BK, you'll find Coney Island, Jay'z Exhibit at Brooklyn Library, Bushwick Art Gallery, Little Caribbean, Murals, Diverse Restaurants, Beaches, Classic Brownstone houses, Cool People with Down to Earth Personalities etc. And Brooklyn has the best women!
I use to live on South Portland and Lafayette Ave in the 80's and 90's. I was back there from 2021 to 2022. It changed so much! I was never a real Nyorker, but this is so nostalgic for me. God bless you all.
Wow! how Downtown has changed. I grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant in the '70s. Became a citizen of the USA, July 3, 1979 at a courthouse next to the park where this video began. Bought a Book that changed my life (Three Magic Words, by U.S. Andersen) at the Avery Bookstore on Livingston St., and saw my first movie ever in the US at the Duffield, on Duffield Street/Fulton St. I went to Erasmus Hall High School on Flatbush Ave/Church Ave where I met my first girlfriend❤🥰 . I could go on and on. Thanks for the Video and the memories.
I remember that movie theater on Duffield Street. Downtown Brooklyn has change so much since then, even Albee Square Mall is gone.🤐 it's sad because I still live in Brooklyn.
Wow! Downtown Brooklyn, has changed so drastically. As a teenager , I used to go with my bother to Juniors cheesecake, to pick up a cheesecake for mom. Later in life, I used to go to pick up art supplies at Jays and after walk to the Albee square mall. I left NYC, about 10 years ago to care for my mother. Seeing Downtown Brooklyn,I’m so sad to see the mom and pop shops gone, the single family homes gone to high rises. The Barclay building always an eye sore as always. Thank you , so much for the Brooklyn tour.❤
I lived in Brooklyn, NY Bushwick section till I was 21. I left for the Army in 1991 and never returned. I sure do miss it though. Thanks for the videos and the memories.
Great tour! Not surprisingly, some of your tours will be of greater interest to folks than others, depending on what interests them. This one caught my attention start to finish; I followed along with your progress on Google Maps, switching between map, satellite, and street views to verify my whereabouts and examine other details around you. I also appreciate the attention you paid to significant buildings, architecture and landmarks by panning up more frequently than you typically do. I'm an out-of-towner who is in the city frequently, and when I have the time I explore areas of NYC that are off the typical Manhattan-tourist routes. I'll be retracing your steps next week!
From Columbus Park & Brooklyn Borough Hall to Flatbush Ave & Barclays Center - welcome back to NYC Julien! Your trip to Nevada and sunny California was awesome - two great walking tours from Las Vegas and Venice Beach. August is coming to end and US Open is coming, I'm getting ready for my favorite tennis tournament in town. Bon weekend mon cher amie! 🗽✨😉
There’s always a contrarian 😆 But yes, I can certainly understand. Who wants to be told that their neighborhood was once a ghetto and has improved significantly over recent decades. The broad implication is because a different type of residence has moved in. I wouldn’t want to be told that either.
You should do another one this month! a lot of people go away in August streets are not as crowded. Downtown brooklyn after labor day is more vibrant and there are a whole lot more interesting people to see.
I don't know if it's just me but that statue was almost frightening to me. Maybe it reads differently in person but I felt a sadness and uncomfortable looking at it. It was as though his spirit wasn't free. But when you die your spirit is supposed to be free.
This was a great video, I love how you even captured how windy it was by the Apple Store. For some reason Lafayette and Ashland place has to be the windiest place in Downtown Brooklyn. I know because I work down there and can be seen pushing a blue bucket cleaning up the streets. Thank you for sharing and showing how beautiful Downtown Brooklyn really is.❤
You have my compliments on this video. You walked in the direction I was hoping you would. I lived in this section of Brooklyn beginning in 1967 and finally moved away in 2020. Lots of history here. CVS Pharmacy building at 24:33 was once the site of the famed FOX Theater (Demolished in 1971). As you're approaching 31:30, you see the APPLE STORE where I bought the IMAX desktop that I'm on right now. As you're approaching the home of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets, The Barclays Center, (which was designed in tribute to Brooklyn's historic brownstone homes) beginning at 33:32, you 'll notice the American flag atop it's pole. Well that very flag pole had once flown at Ebbets Field, home of Major League Baseball's Brooklyn Dodgers. The Dodgers left Brooklyn in 1957 and relocated to Los Angeles. Ebbets Field was demolished in 1960 and the flag pole was stored away. It was then recovered and erected at Barclay's Center in 2012 because Brooklyn had not had a major professional sports team in more than 55 years. Nice video.
Bonjour Julien, You're back in NYC. Great and wonderful! Your new Brooklyn Walk ❤ 👍 🇺🇲🇨🇵🇩🇪🍺🍷Thank you Have a nice Sunday Your Friend from Hamburg Germany
You should have took that little detour to "Juniors" when you was downtown. I'm glad you made this video because a lot of people think that Brooklyn is nothing but a Slum???

Grew up there in the 80s and 90s. When it was an amazing place to live. Now it's gentrification and unrecognizable.
And where do u live now ? The whole country is a mess
