Uncharted has breathtaking graphics, huge environments and very well written dialogue, but Tomb Raider has far more sophisticated puzzles, combat, survival and strategy elements. Uncharted 4 had amazing emotional impact in terms of storytelling and cinematic quality, but Lara's perseverance, resourcefulness, and genuine love for solving historical mysteries instead of just pilfering and shooting everything makes her far more intriguing to me personally

Princess Wolf In every comment that says Uncharted is better you're saying "To you.". No, there´s a difference between an opinion and an undeniable fact. Uncharted is better, simple as that. It's NOT an opinion it's FACT. Get that through your thick skull.

Although i like both franchises, I'm pretty sure Tamoor makes better points. I'm not surprised by the outcome though. It feels like the outcomes of these debates essentially come down to what franchise is more popular at the moment.
Justin Chavez nah that one was still good. I liked the ending a lot too Only thing kinda bad is it doesn't play as smooth and solid but it's because it's older
@@ben10justin20 Uncharted Drake's Fortune was a critical and commercial success hence why it spawned 3 incredible sequels and I know not everyone likes Uncharted but I certainly do
Uncharted is much more compelling due to its writing. TR has more varied gameplay, but not a compelling story. Lara is fine, but she's not nearly as charismatic and lovable as Nate. The same goes for the supporting characters. TR does not have anyone on the level of Sully, Elena and Chloe. I recently played the first 3 games through the Nathan Drake Collection, and I blasted through them in no time cause I couldn't stop playing. Even pulled an all-nighter. Tomb Raider on the other hand, I've still not played Rise, despite the many times it's been on sale. So in the end, Uncharted wins.
If we we're talking movies then sure - Uncharted wins. But this are video games, and other then story & A/V presentation Tomb Raider wins in all the categories.
Uncharted story *Follow treasure *bad guys follow you *bad guy kidnap your friend *save friend *discover treasure is not what you thought *bad guy wants treasure to control the world *hero stops bad guy *hero takes the girl Repeat 3 times Haven't played the 4th game but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same story.
screamityeah yeah and it’s fun every time, the fourth one doesn’t really follow the formula as the rest, which is why I think 2 and 4 are the best in the series.
The thing is that new Tomb Raider series is basically Uncharted. I personally like the challenging nature of the older Tomb Raider games. Plus dual wielding pistols. - *It's funny though, at how first Uncharted games copied Tomb Raider only to NOW have Tomb Raider copy the Uncharted games.*
First of all,Tomb raider never copied Uncharted because it was released before uncharted,2nd thing about puzzles and stuffs, the first one had nearly no puzzles, the Rise had much more ones, the new upcoming Shadow, will have a lot of them and will be scarry as hell, just like a true tomb raider(at least thats what the devs said),wich means she is growing up,and getting stronger, not just copying shit of anyone.
I agree. Tomb Raider used to be an amazing slow paced puzzle platformer, where part of the fun was simply figuring out and timing your next jump. Uncharted built of that but took it to movie territory, basically guiding you through by your hand instead but telling an amazingly paced story through set pieces. Now Tomb raider is now going for the Uncharted market and somewhat lost what made them great in my opinion. It can't compete to Naughty Dogs eye for detail anymore.
Classic Tomb raider paved the way for the platform puzzler/exploration genre in games, but Uncharted brought the more Indiana Jones movie style to the fray later down the line. Tomb raider now tries to imitate that newer style of the genre.
Tomb Raider is intuitive and natural to me. Makes me think of The Last of US more than Uncharted when it comes to game-play. Tomb Raider needs a higher difficulty though. With all the tools available hard should be mid tier.I like Laura better because the game doesn't tell me exactly who she is and like how I'm not told what to think (outside of being bright eyed). Arrow to the head is more unsatisfying then bullet to the head. Tomb Raider wins
I'm a Lone Wolf Mami hey there princess, you right but her adventure Isn't that interesting, I like to play Tomb Raider but campaign wise thats just me tho... I love Drakes adventures over Lara.
I gotta disagree with Tamoor that current Tomb Raider gameplay is what Eidos/Core envisioned for the series, I believe without a doubt that the Legends/Anniversary/Underworld iteration was what 90s Tomb Raider would have been had the technology and techniques been available.
They should separate the old tomb raider games from the the new ones, since the new ones are "rebooted" games, and the games and Lara herself are so different from the old ones. The best about new tr games is controls ,gameplay and graphics. The worst is definitely the writing .
Uncharted is a legendary series. Been enjoying it ever since I started with 1 towards 4. The story is very interestingly enjoying and creates a lot of depth on the characteristics of the cast
Princess Wolf I literally see you on every comment saying "to you" to every who says uncharted is better. Do you not have anything better to do. Let someone have an opinion
卞廾ヨ几ヨ呂尺回己廾回句句と Drake’s Fortune and Drake’s Deception still easily outclass more modern games in terms of story to this day. They really only fall short when compared to Among Thieves and A Thief’s End, and by that point, you are comparing Uncharted with itself. Not a big loss at all, since the games are so cohesive in and of themselves.
Uncharted feels like a Gears clone with cheap, easy and repetitive platforming, very little variety in gameplay, generic weapons and zero reward or innovation. It's a generic shooter that's more comparable to Gears (which is FAR better) as opposed to Tomb Raider, which has actual exploration and RPG elements.

@@dani_i8942 no disrespect , but what what the fuck? Uncharted have great story , amazing storytelling , amazing characters , best graphics in the business anything that is generic here is tomb raider story , storytelling and characters.

@WhoDarestheMAN gamer Meh. Dry story with dry characters. The rebooted lara is great, way better than her previous incarnation, but like I said: DRY. Whatever floats your boat though
savage b It aint about graphics but the game overall. I still consider the original Tomb Raider (1996) the best ever and it doesn’t have amazing graphics compared to today.
The main difference between the games I'd say is character development. By the end of the Uncharted series I was incredibly attached to all of the characters. Drake, Elena, Sully, and their daughter were all amazing and I felt for them. In Tomb Raider there's some decent character development for Lara but all of the other characters seem kind of one dimensional. Jonah especially is just one of the flattest characters I've ever seen. I liked a lot of the characters from the original reboot a lot and I was dissapointed not to see Sarah in the following games as she was one of the more relateable characters
English is my 2nd language, but should you say something is best....than something? if something is the best, don't you just say "it's the best?" and plus, new TR triology is not great at all
Okay, telling each other to "Shut up, you're like an old man" is no way to make a productive debate. Shows weakness in your ability to back up your own argument. But at the same time, there was a little arrogance from the other side...
For me its Tomb Raider hands down, Uncharteds gameplay isn't all that for me personally, same with the set pieces and areas but the characters and story are better in uncharted.
I personally liked Tomb Raider better. Old and new. I have TRIED to get ino Uncharted multiple times throughout the years and I just cant get into it. My brother says at this point skip the trash first game and play from the second one up.
Tall D&H My brother is the actual fan he just suggests I skip the first one. Its.. not that interesting. I got it because I thought I was going to love the game. I love these types of games, the gameplay, the story, the characters. I just have no idea what turns me away from the game. I guess Ill read a story form of it.
Ava Van Pelt Funny story, I actually was a late PS owner and I started the uncharted series with 4. It was so good that I bought the legacy collection and I played the first and liked it, so now I’m playing through the second.
Tomb Raider all the way, Uncharted has a great story but it's a safe story. As a female gamer I adore the new Tomb Raider games, we finally have the action adventure story with a strong female lead we deserve. On top of that I love that Lara isn't perfect she gets scared and makes mistakes and learns from them. Tomb Raider isn't afraid to shy from the effects the Lara has know her enviornment, especially from what we are hearing about in the rumors for the new game. I also love that each artifact she finds isn't just a prize to collect it comes with history that helps you understand your surroundings. Also I love the puzzles!!I! Also if we are comparing the two you have to use the two new tomb raider games, saying that tomb raider had double the time isn't fair when technology for video games really starting advancing after Tomb Raider had already been around for so long. I would rather look at the evolution between the first and second of the new games. In terms of story and game play both are amazing and the evolution makes a lot of sense. I love how it focuses on her character evolution from survivor to ambitious (and somewhat blinded) with post traumatic stress, also Lara's story is her own, how much of a relief is it for there to be a strong female character with no romantic male interest. Also Uncharterd from the little I played has really awkward controls and it seems to have a lot of fire fights (not the tomb raider doesn't but at least I have more options in weapons). Tomb Raider is great because you can use stealth to get through tough battle situations which is great for beginner gamers like me. Also I only tried Uncharted 1 & 2 so I honestly can't judge the series as a whole, but even when I was discouraged by difficult parts in Tomb Raider the story was so great and her character so interestesting I pushed through, I wanted to be worthy of knowing what happened. With with Uncharted I got frustrated very eaislly and gave up and just watched the story on TH-cam. Also if you do compare the whole series and the movies you have to give credit where credit is due, the new games were so amazing they inspired a new movie (which could have been awesome if they kept to the plot if the game but unfortunately Hollywood is awful and they ruin every book and game they get there money grubbing hands on). Lara also went from being known for triangle boobs to being an inspiration for women like me, a hard seasoned explorer who is tough as nails and honestly in this day and age that kind of character to me is more important than yet another male scarastic handsome lead. Don't get me wrong I think Nathan Drake is a fantastic character but Lara has a wider impact outside if the gaming comunnity.
So true about Uncharted being too safe. I prefer Tomb Raider I’m just about every way personally. Nathan’s just funnier, but he also reminds me of Tony Stark or any other MCU hero so he adds to the over saturation of that snarky character. Reboot Lara is awesome.
uhhhhh...the climbing was literally the worst thing about uncharted 4, one of its only major flaws. It was braindead gameplay. You literally couldn't fail. Sure it looked smooth but the amount of time you spend climbing in 4 is obnoxious.
Nate aint selfish ...he stopped Lazarivic and Shambala for the greater good, he stopped the goons from carrying the weapon known as "El Dorado" for the greater good , he destroyed "iram of the pillars" for the greater good and he destroyed all of the nuclear contaminated Gold in Uncharted golden abyss for the greater good.
Is it even fair to Tomb Raider to compare Nathan Drake to Lara Croft? Nathan Drake is an incredible video game character who manages to be funny, relatable, badass, and sympathetic without being an annoying character. Lara Croft has the personality of a brick.
I started with Uncharted but ended with Tomb Raider. I could watch Uncharted more than play it because it's got a decent story and cool character, but when it comes to playing an action adventure game, Tomb Raider takes the cake baby.
Tomb raider obviously, not even the nostalgia aspect. Just overall offering something new. I played every uncharted title and I literally predicted every single motion it was going to do. And not to take away from the overall experience, but it very much plays out like a cliche Hollywood film. Personally the lost legacy was my favorite out of he franchise. But most definitely it is a very safe franchise 💯 The dialogue/character development is obviously amazing in uncharted, but TR is my go to. A solid experience, more in depth gameplay with a more realistic Lara, I feel this next one will be amazing.
I agree. I couldn't wait to finish UC. I bought a Pro mainly to get into the 'amazing' Uncharted games and from the start of the first to the end of the fourth, the gameplay is exactly the same, which has always felt like generic Gears with more jumping, generic weapons, generic enemies and mind-numbingly repetitive platforming. The best part about UC were the simple puzzles and cutscenes, which to me felt like rewards for having slogged through the repetitive gameplay. Playing TR for a 2nd time and I'm loving it. It's far better than UC, it's not even funny. So sad that all of these pro UC opinions are coming from uneducated fanboys who just like cutscenes.
The thing is, most gamers are males. We feel more connected to Nathan than to Lara. Plus Nathan dresses casually and looks and acts like a normal guy, which makes us more connected to him, he is not a superhero or someone with special abilities. On the other hand Lara Croft dresses for adventures and you rarely find women who are adventurous as Lara is, which makes her a special women but hard to relate to and feel connected to.
Sergio Garza how?? tomb raider has quite a lot of collectables, and really hidden tombs so you can come by later qhen your equipped with the riggt things...
Uncharted has no replayability. What the hell are you smoking? The heavy reliance on cinematic and linear story telling made sure of that. Tomb Raider is an all-round better game.
Well this is a tough one, I prefer Lara Croft, but I prefer the overall story of Uncharted but the gameplay of Tomb Raider is better so overall Tomb Raider I guess
If we are talking about the Old Tomb Raider and Uncharted of course I'd go for Uncharted. But seeing how TR evolved into a masterpiece changing almost everything and upgrading each of its element into good to great. TR wins it. It is way more.
This is a bad discussion, the young dude, doesn’t make any points. I think this could be a really cool discussion and the bearded guy hints at some really good points however they never go beyond “my game good, yours bad” even though it’s clear they both like both franchises.

Uncharted is easily the best of two great game series. The difference is the writing and the characters. Playing Tomb Raider I always get to the point where I just don't care about the story lol
In uncharted games you generally are just wanting to zip through the battle parts to get to the next cutscene because you admire the story and interaction between the various characters. With tomb raider your more apt to skip the cutscene to get back to the action. Both are good though, just for different reasons.
New Tomb Raider has better and more diverse gameplay. It meets the explorer fantasy way better because you're not just forced into story beat after story beat. And let's not forget that Uncharted 4's story was the only good one out of the saga. The only reason people say the story is good is because the chemistry between Nathan and Sully. Before 4 Nathan just kind of seems the same. By the end of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the character development of Lara being a green explorer on her first big journey to Shadow where becomes a full fledged badass survivor is palpable and you know she can take on anything.
Megaman x Fanatic I have a ps4. But I played Tomb Raider in glorious 60fps on PC because I prefer PC. Player's and consumer's choice is important to me.
i like both games. but Uncharted 100%. better, smoother, more fluent gameplay (in 4 and the lost legacy not the others), graphics, characters visuals, setting and enemy variety. Tomb Raider has better survival, crafting, puzzles and it makes a think more abt your actions. and I prefer Lara, but Nate has a lot more character to him. but, these games are not the same at all. the only similarity to them is that you're hunting treasure.

Fun Fact: Every single thing done in Uncharted has already been done in Tomb Raider back in the 90s and early 2000s. Yes, Lara has drove a Jeep, went zip lining, famously known for her motorcycle, had huge underwater gameplay, able to play as your younger self in the 4th and 5th Tomb Raider games, and you were even able to play as another character in the 6th game aswell. Another Fun Fact: The girls net worth is literally at 1.3 billion and she ain't even real
ive played all of the games in question except uncharted 4, but i dont imagine its any different from the first 3, tomb raider offers a lot more variety in gameplay
I have. He's right. It's a lot of waves. Uncharted is easy and simple and to handle. Pretty standard and that's fine, it's fun and you're there for the plot. But damn, TR, has the best gameplay, lot of customization and you can even do combat against them if desired.

Uncharted felt way less pressing to me. Tomb Raider made me feel like I had to hurry up and save someone. Uncharted made me feel like I could let him hang on that ledge for 50 minutes while I ate my dinner...that's why I personally prefer Tomb Raider. As for the character question to 10 year olds: 10 year old boys will tend to go for the Male hero and girls for the female, it is that simple 90% of the time.

Haven't played the 4th game but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same story.
screamityeah yeah and it’s fun every time, the fourth one doesn’t really follow the formula as the rest, which is why I think 2 and 4 are the best in the series.
@TDarkK That's every game, movie, and book in this genre, not just tomb raider and uncharted
And both copied Iniana Jones...
Uncharted by a landslide, Tomb had its glory back in the 90s but Uncharted far more entertaining....

Uncharted exists because of and is inspired by the Tomb Raider series, the new Tomb Raider Trilogy is inspired by Uncharted
Tomb Raider games obviously have way better gameplay than any Uncharted game.

Uncharted feels like a Gears clone with cheap, easy and repetitive platforming, very little variety in gameplay, generic weapons and zero reward or innovation. However UC feels more like a Gears clone with a theme of exploration where you're moistly ledge-hoping (terribly repetitive platforming) and shooting through corridors with an AK47, whereas TR feels like an exploration game that doesn't focus on shooting an explosions. UC just NEVER felt rewarding. TR has better weapons, crafting, skills, better collectibles and all round better lore. I couldn't wait to finish UC in my first playthrough and will NEVER play that repetitive average series again. Meanwhile, I'm on my 2nd playthrough of TR from last gen and am loving it

Tomb raider:good graphics
Uncharted 4:best graphics ever
savage b It aint about graphics but the game overall.
Tomb Raider got best tricky puzzles than Uncharted.
English is my 2nd language, but should you say something is best....than something? if something is the best, don't you just say "it's the best?" and plus, new TR triology is not great at all

I love these types of games, the gameplay, the story, the characters. I just have no idea what turns me away from the game. I guess Ill read a story form of it.

Funny story, I actually was a late PS owner and I started the uncharted series with 4. It was so good that I bought the legacy collection and I played the first and liked it, so now I’m playing through the second.
Just don't play #4 (onless you want to be bored Well at less don't play it Stealth at less IT SO bad and boring)
it's okay, games are for different people, for me, I tried the Tomb Raider 1, but I just can't get into it at all
Tomb Raider all the way, Uncharted has a great story but it's a safe story. Don't get me wrong I think Nathan Drake is a fantastic character but Lara has a wider impact outside if the gaming comunnity.

uhhhhh...the climbing was literally the worst thing about uncharted 4, one of its only major flaws.
Lol damn.
Thats harsh on bricks....
I started with Uncharted but ended with Tomb Raider. I could watch Uncharted more than play it because it's got a decent story and cool character, but when it comes to playing an action adventure game, Tomb Raider takes the cake baby.
Yeah it definitely does, it’s more polish in almost every aspect and it makes sense since it’s been around for 20 plus years
Tomb raider obviously, not even the nostalgia aspect. Just overall offering something new. I played every uncharted title and I literally predicted every single motion it was going to do. And not to take away from the overall experience, but it very much plays out like a cliche Hollywood film.
Personally the lost legacy was my favorite out of he franchise. But most definitely it is a very safe franchise 💯
The dialogue/character development is obviously amazing in uncharted, but TR is my go to. A solid experience, more in depth gameplay with a more realistic Lara, I feel this next one will be amazing.
Exactly. Uncharted plays it safe, it's the Walt Disney of shooting games xD
Death Grips The problem is that I want to play a video game and not see a movie. Uncharted never appeal to me, ithing that it offers appeals to me.

Rise of the Tomb Raider alone is vastly superior to any Uncharted
Tomb Raider by far. Uncharted has a better story and character focus but from a gameplay and mechanical standpoint, TR exceeds on every level.
Uncharted has better writing, I think Tomb Raider is the superior package but good animations and set pieces will be more popular
