LIMELIGHT DEBUT EP 〈LOVE & HAPPINESS〉
'K팝의 미래'를 꿈꾸는 라임라잇(LIMELIGHT)이 밸런타인데이에 수줍은 사랑을 고백한다. 사랑의 시작, 간절해서 더 설레고 알 수 없어 궁금하기만 한 소녀들의 현실 로맨스. 라임라잇이 순수하고 풋풋한 마음에서 피어난 첫사랑을 노래한다.
새 EP 'LOVE & HAPPINESS'는 지난 9월 프리데뷔 EP 'LIMELIGHT'로 얼굴을 알린 라임라잇 이토 미유, 수혜, 가은 세 멤버들의 정식 데뷔 선언이다. 이상적인 조합으로 눈도장을 찍었던 이들이 5개월 만에 다시 출발선에 섰다. K팝 최고 스태프들이 모인 만큼, 데뷔 앨범 역시 소녀 그 이상에 대한 이미지를 음악, 퍼포먼스, 영상으로 구현해 호기심을 자극하기에 충분하다.
타이틀곡 'Honestly'는 꿈에 그리던 사람을 처음 만난 이후 용기있게 먼저 다가가 계속 물음표를 던지는 소녀의 심정을 그린 고백송으로, 라임라잇 특유의 풋풋함과 서정적인 매력을 대표하는 곡이다. 소녀들이 공감할 수 있는 감정을 미니멀한 사운드로 표현했으며, 사랑의 시작에 대한 순수한 매력을 디테일하게 전달하고자 했다. 전작의 더블타이틀곡 'Eye to Eye'의 연장선이기도 한 이 곡의 프로듀싱은 프리 데뷔곡 'Starlight'를 작곡한 히트메이커 김승수가 맡았다.
여기에 음악적 변화를 예고한 수록곡들의 반전으로도 기대를 높였다. '블랑누아 (Blanc Noir)'는 흑백이라는 테마에 맞춰 영화와 같은 로맨스 판타지를 표현한 곡으로, 멤버들의 탄탄한 보컬이 인상적이다. 또 '크리스탈 (Crystal)'은 '세상의 주목을 받다'라는 팀명답게 이제부터 더욱 빛날 라임라잇의 당당한 포부를 담은 곡으로, 다채로운 분위기를 들려준다. 멤버들은 서정적이며, 에너제틱한 반전의 매력을 통해 라임라잇만의 세계를 확실히 각인시키겠다는 각오다.
아련하면서도 세련된 분위기로 감성을 자극하는 타이틀곡 'Honestly'는 뮤직비디오와 퍼포먼스로 더욱 구체화된다. 팝스타일의 음악을 하이틴의 감성으로 해석한 영상은 소녀들의 풋풋한 사랑의 표현과 연기를 통해 보는 재미를 더했다. 특히 같은 소속사 아티스트인 그룹 아이콘의 김진환이 아련한 남자친구로 등장해 반가움을 전달한다. 이외에도 퍼포먼스는 엠넷 '스트릿 맨 파이터'에서 활약한 YGX의 도우가 맡아 소녀의 수줍은 감정과 솔직한 마음을 교차시켜 역동적인 무대를 완성했다.
라임라잇은 지난해 프리 데뷔와 동시에 뜨거운 반응을 이끌어냈다. 한정판으로 발매된 EP는 단숨에 완판됐으며 더블 타이틀곡 'Starlight'과 'Eye to Eye'를 앞세워 각종 무대를 누볐다. 또 일본 팬덤이 형성되며 팬사인회까지 성공적으로 마쳤다. 순수한 이미지에 강렬한 에너지를 발산하는 라임라잇이 완성된 스토리로 확장된 다음 스텝을 예고한다.

흑백이라는 뜻을 가진 곡 '블랑 누아 (Blanc Noir)'는 새하얗게 나를 비춰주던 네가 사라지고 새까맣게 변해버린 내가 더 늦기 전에 다시 너를 불러 시작을 알린다는 내용의 한 편의 영화 같은 곡이다.
폭죽처럼 터지는 사운드와 고조되는 흐름이 매력적이며 그 흐름을 이끌어가는 탄탄한 보컬 역시 인상적인 곡이다.
