There are so many people in this world doing jobs in the shadows, taking pride in their work because it just means so much more to them. This is one of those instances. Thank you for what you do. This is extremely profound.
There’s a certain type of deep honor that comes from working at a site of so many casualties. When you realize that the work you’re doing is allowing others to come and remember the impact. The physical outcome of your labor creates a space for emotion and education to unite. And sometimes as you’re working, you get the overwhelming feeling that the ground you’re on will forever be hallowed and that you are contributing to the preservation of something that will outlive you. It’s beautiful and being able to experience that is truly honorable
An amazing thought I had while watching this is that Jim is one of three people that clean the pools at the 9/11 memorial. 3 people out 8 billion on this earth currently have stewardship of cleaning the pools. An elite group that I am grateful for and can’t imagine the sense of honor and humility that comes with that job. Thank you Jim!
A day that will live in infamy. To all those who had loved ones who were lost on 9/11 or those that served or were lost in the global wars on terror. I love you. You and your loved ones will always be remembered.
Beautiful Story. The Memorial Pools are so lovely. Such poignant Memorials to those who passed away. Much Gratitude to Jim Maroon and to the Filmmaker .
Thank you Jim! I still remember every minute of that morning on 9/11/01. I did some work back in 2009 filling out purchase orders for door locks for the new tenants of the WTC. Always heartbreaking memories but I for one wish I could be helping you everyday with what you are doing on that inviolable ground.
Thank you Jim!❤ I appreciate your hard work and dedication to such a beautiful monument. I was lucky that both of my friends werent not working that day in the towers..I feel horrible for those that were and their families and the emergency workers dealing with the aftermath.💔God Bless you Jim!🙏❤️
When we visited NYC for July 4th I was disgusted at the people and filth near this site. Such disrespect, it just shows how the city and country have gone to sh!t in the past four years. It’s enlightening to see someone have so much pride and dedication to their work and remember what this sacred ground represents. Thank you, your efforts are not lost on majority of people who appreciate what you are doing for the lost soles and their families.
Wow Joshua, the First time and every other time I saw the memorial in person felt incredibly humbling and important. Thanks for this beautiful story. Could you share some insights what equipment you used in this lowlight environment ?
Did you get any shots from inside the little hole in the middle. I’ve always wanted to know what’s down there, but you can’t see in it from the street.
Gardens the same size and shape with beautiful trees and fountains would have been just as fitting memorial i believe..8 hrs of cleaning every night 5 nights a week. I think its wasteful.
Oh James, you really made me belly laugh with tears in my eyes when you said: “I’m just a pool cleaner”. . . . Let me be the first of many to tell you James, you are not just a “Pool cleaner” you are THE pool cleaner, and an absolute National Treasure for your services the greatest memorial of all time. 🫂🤝🏼🇺🇸
