Different looking brothers? Could be different fathers. I found it troubling how Harry separated the brothers. Brian's inability to accept Deb and his inability to see how much Dexter loves Deb is his downfall. But, the whole attack on Angel was out of character and was also the lead to find who Rudy really was. I'll have to go back into 1x10 and see if Paul is missing the shoe. That is a plot plant that should have been there for us to witness. They may have thought Dexter was not going to be renewed from the way they finished the first season. Now here we have had teaching moments for Dexter and why does he not embrace them? Do not keep your trophies and kill tools in the apartment! Please, Dexter clear your living space of evidence, Rudy showed you how easy it was to find! Next, while leaving Brian on his rack closed out the ITK it would have been different had Dexter made him disappear, as usual. My reasoning is then Dexter could use Rudy's bloodless method and keep the ITK as elusive. All in all this season made me want to continue... there are questions we need answered!

but i think there is a lot of allegory in Dexter. So i think Rudy is in part a real character and in part the representation of the subconscious of Dexter. His true self trying to be unleashed with no restrain, no code, no ethics, no remorse, no feelings. Dexter admires Rudy the entire season because he does whatever he wants with no remorse or regrets and Dexter wants the same so Rudy (Dexter true self) picks Debra to try to free himself because if he can kill Debra in his ritual of killing and collecting, then no one would stop him. He would kill indiscriminate.
Harry represents the opposite. The conscious of Dexter because he is not pyschopath born. Dex is a made sociopath, so it means he can still have remorse and have some sense of moral and feeling. At the end of the season none of them wins. Dexter kills Rudy, who represents his most wanted desire but at the same he started to see Harry, the moral part, in a different way.
Btw Doakes is also my fav character. He can be rude, obsessive and a pain in the ass but he is an honest and fair guy and you can trust him.

I think it makes sense for them to have both turned out as Serial Killers.... Bryan because he got messed up and couldn't come back and was raised in the horrible 1970's "Mental Health" Facilities... And Dexter, honestly, because Harry kept telling him that it was the ONLY thing he could ever be.
Other people also mentioned that Dexter and Brian probably have different fathers, but I think the most prominent piece of evidence for this is that Dexter´s father knew about Dexter and left him things, but didn´t leave anything to Brian. Also fits more that Brian would want to kill off all people that were Dexter´s family and but not his. Plus, he and Dexter look quite different.

Regarding Dexter's father, I think it was never disclosed whether he was also Brian's father. But Brian killed him for a very simple and twisted reason - he knew Dexter would get notified and that would allow him to get closer to Dexter. It's like with this psychopath 'test':
A girl's mother dies. At the funeral she meets a stranger, she likes him, they talk etc. Next day she kills her sister, why?
Answer: she was hoping this guy would show up at her sister's funeral too.
Same thing with Brian - killed someone to get closer to someone else.
But anyway, I'm glad you finished season 1, I hope you'll keep watching Dexter, season 2 is the best I think!
Hey Michal! Glad to see you still with Dex. It gets good, hang with it. He dragged Paul out the window, or back door. So the shoe came off along the way.
Yeah, would be interesting how they both would have turned out if Harry took them both in.
Could always assume Paul had a friend plant a shoe to set Dexter up... 🤔

I think the evidence at the scene with Bryon could not prove Bryan killed himself; I'm surprised no one was suspicious.

I can't say what most people want, only what I like in reaction videos, and that is seeing other's opinions and analysis on content that I either love or hate. Sometimes I even watch videos about movies I have no intention of ever seeing, just because the creator is so entertaining and fun.
