The reason they put the carp into their bathtubs is to purge it from the dirt, sand, and crap that the carp consumes. Since they are bottom feeders, some people believe they have a "muddy" or "dirty" after taste. So giving it some time in clean water helps with the flavor and texture.

The carp in the bathtub actually has a quite interesting reason. If you go out fishing and catch a carp and then immediately cook it, it will probably taste like moss and dirt. If you keep it in clean water and the cook it, it will not taste like it.
The dirt gets filtered out of the fish in the clean water, but it's important to change the water at least once a day.

I lived in Hershey for 7 years across from the Reese's Company and it is not in Philadelphia. It is actually a section of Derry Township in Dauphin County. In another story you mention 2 Laura Buxton's. Did any one else consider one could be the others doppelgänger where one could be nice and the other evil.
If I lived across from the Reese's Company, I'd go across the street and gaze at people with big, sad puppy eyes until they gave me some of that peanut buttery goodness.

Im a really really introverted person. And have sosial phobia. I trained as a hairdresser and we learned to look at people and judge if you wanted to be talked to or not. you dont need a special chair, just brows your phone and reply short answers and youll be left alone. If not, then go to a diffrent salon next time.

That with the carp in the bathtub is true. But there is not a big mystery behind it. We just keep it there so it will be indeed fresh, once we are at the point to cook it. As not every family goes fishing, we purchase a living one and keep it for a day. But not all families do it. We did it a for a few years. Nowadays they sell fish in huge tanks in front of supermarkets. The fisherman kill and clean them for the customers before Christmas time.

2:15 Actually it's not a tradition to keep a carp swimming in the bath. Simply people are buying them and letting them swim in the bath to keep them as fresh as possible, since they are sold alive three days before the xmas, and shops are closed during other days. Its a tradition to eat a carp thou :)

My mother in law is from the Czech Republic. Last year she kept a fish in the tub for 2 days and then made soup out of it. LOL It was the craziest thing I have ever seen.
2:28 that´s because naturaly the fish lives in muddy water. keeping it alive in freshwater for some time, makes it taste less like eating dirt.
