Brilliant video with priceless photos taken at the time. You never think 20 years down the line you would look back at them and think ahh them were the days.
I was really enjoying this slideshow, you got some great photos on here, but then at the end, very sad! - Love and respect to all, one driver to another.
yeah they were good times and we didn't realise it at the time, like the old saying... those days are like my hair.... they're gone and won't be back :-) lol
I remember Carna with the 141s when the likes of the Ayatolla Frank Murphy was a driver...Nowadays not too many Carna drivers can even speak english...
What happened to UK trucking industry?I did it for two years from 2006 till 2008 and the money was very nice,19 pounds an hour plus 70 pound night out.I have now noticed its mostly Polish, where did the British Drivers Go?or are they in Canada?
Ralph Ralefeta I think the wages went on a downward spiral when the cheap labour came in and it wasn't worth drivers staying away from home for average wages. The wages in Canada aren't great either unless you're driving Day and night lad.
This is what I don't understand why companies are so greedy and don't even care about its drivers. In 2006 the wages were 19 pounds per hour,I thought right now in 2018 British drivers were earning atleast 80 pounds an hour
yeah east west were one of the best companies in Ireland, most people that worked there reckon it was the best job they ever had, they had great plant and it looked the dogs b_lls ;-)
done a we spell wit carna myself shunting trailors up an down to cork an limerick back in late 90,s wen the had reals lorrys slimline topliners an mick hughes in his iveco shush dont let on carna ran ivecos.....lol big slim...
What?is it true they earn that much?I used to work for a mother and son company in 2006 but it went belly up during recession and I went to the buses. What about Eddie Stabbart? is'nt he paying well?

Great pictures. Such a shame the industry has died the way it has! Thanks.
Joe Mengler yeah I think those days are well and truly gone because of the new breed of drivers from afar 🙁
