I’ve had my AWAY carry on since 2019. And honestly I wish I got another bag. If you like quality stuff, especially their backpacks and duffels then AWAY is fine. But for me personally I wish I went another route. 1. The price of their stuff is too much for me considering I don’t travel very often. if you’re an avid traveler that travels multiple times a year then maybe? The lifetime warranty is worth it. 2. The bags are heavy, and I’m quite weak. Quality materials = heavy, and that means you need to pack lighter stuff to not be too heavy for the luggage weight restrictions. 3. The battery pack is micro-usb. Who uses or needs micro-usb anymore? If I lose the cable the battery pack comes with I would be in trouble because I’d have to search the depth on my drawers for one. 4. You most likely have a battery pack anyway. Like I just wish I got a cheaper carry on bag that was lighter and cuter from Ross or target or smt. I’ve never had a problem with the bag, it’s just overkill. And the battery pack is outdated and adds to the weight. I also own the everywhere bag and the zip backpack from away. Same opinion for those two as well. Great materials, high quality, looks nice, but do I travel enough to warrant buying $200 bags? Lol, no I don’t. And those are heavy as well. Even when empty. If you got the means to splurge sure. Go for it. But it’s not a need. They have amazing customer service tho. 10/10.
Yes I been looking at away luggage for the past month At first I was into the manos . Do u recommend the soft side . Am disabled so I thought it will be more lighter or the hard shell in medium size
Hi Jess, thanks for this video! I’ve been debating between a few suitcases over the past few weeks & I was wondering, would you suggest the away flex or regular away suite case & medium vs large? I have quite a few international trips for weddings coming up & haven’t bought new luggage in 11 years. Also, any suggestions for alternatives? Thanks for your input! 🙂
I like the flex as it lets you stuff more in it. Are you a light or heavy packer? I’m not a super heavy packer and i found the medium to be great but if you have a longer international trip in the winter for example (eg lots of coats and things) large might be the move but keep in mind it’s much easier to get over your 50 lbs limit and then you’ll have to pay more money. If you’re a light packer and the trips aren’t in the winter (and you mostly travel in spring/summer), I’d get the medium flex too. You could always bring a bag/backpack to put under the seat or check the suitcase and do a free carry on suitcase. I personally don’t think the large is necessary but I am also a lighter (not super light tho) packer.
Even on two week trips to Ukraine I only take carry on. So probably not going to get this bag. I'd rather spend my money on my mom or some very good wrinkle free pants or dress.
I get that, I went in a 3 week euro trip and took a carry on and a backpack because I was broke lol. When traveling in the winter, with heavy clothes, I tend to check a bag. Those are nice things to spend money on!
Agreed on everything including the price.. thanks for your honesty!
Anytime, thanks for watching!
I have an away small, carry on version like your big bag and love it. It was a splurge for me and haven’t traveled without it since.
That’s awesome! Do you use the phone charger often?
@@roadjesstraveled In 4 years one time! 🤷🏻♀️
@@kimromero3503 good to know 😂

Love your honesty!!!!! If I have the money one day I will buy a good suitcase especially if it will last.. ;)
Thanks for watching :) I always tell it like it is lol!!
I paid $243 for the carryon with the charger and I really like the bag.
That’s awesome! Do you use the charger a lot?
I love the life’s certainties graphic 😂😂😂
😂
LOL I just ordered the Away medium and carry on. ....eeek! I hope this is a good purchase.
Lol don’t worry just yet! Let me know how you like it. They make quality products, just wish it weren’t so expensive. What color did you get?
@@roadjesstraveled Navy, I thought maybe it wouldn't show scratches etc.
I got the medium because the large is almost as tall as I am!
I think both of those decisions are very smart! I agree the large is overkill for me personally lol. I’d love to hear how you like it!

Level 8 sells bags just as good but at a much cheaper price.
