    Great video and good to see someone when testing to hit a breaking putt which shows pace control and starting line. Too many reviews you only see a straight putt

      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and commenting Paul! Straight putts are good for initial testing, but you HAVE TO know what those breakers are doing; the speed as they approach the whole WITH the spin from the release of the club makes a huge difference.

    On the 7.5 what shaft length are you playing

    I have the 2018 7.5 Phantom X and I have to agree that you have to test those head to head, ideally with Titleist. However I still feel that the fitting process should be more sophisticated in comparison to “what you feel and how you roll the ball” approach - that might be a temporary thing on the day of fitting. Titleist should start offering to fit with SAM lab when someone prefers it, to show them how they deliver different heads/shaft bents on the ball. Wish mine came with a slented neck so I might be looking at the 5.5 or 7.5 again. Personally prefer the old headcovers but its only cosmetics.

      The 7.5 from then has a slight slant neck which allows for toe hang, but is not really like the proper slant neck that get welded on. Also, the 7.5 from back then is a true true mallet. If you miss right…there you have it. The 2022 is SO different. It is actually the subject of my next video!

    Just found you channel. Really enjoyed this clip. Best review so far. Be great to see what you think of the new PLD Ping putters as Im keen to buy… thanks!

      Thanks Mark! Appreciate you watching and the comment. Ping always makes a great putter. I have always urged manufacturers that I have done T&D for to put weight ports in them…That being said, you’re gonna have to work for that putter if you can’t adjust it to your stroke with weights. You can watch my video on how I set up my putter and why. All the best!

    Good video! I’m interested in the Phantom X vs Odyssey Toulon. Do you happen to have a video or insight on the new Toulon line?

    • @golfcoachpaul
      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Graham,
      I haven’t tested out the new Toulons yet. Overall, they have been the line to compete with Scotty. It’s a must to get fit, but understand with no moveable weights, you work for the putter, it can’t be changed to fit you.

    Just found your channel, great review! What are your thoughts on Bettinardi putters and do you fit a lot of people for them. Surprised that the best feeling putter for you was Mizuno

    • @golfcoachpaul
      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Willis, thanks for watching and commenting. Bettinardis are wonderful putters. He actually milled Scotty Cs for a while. The only thing about them though, is that they don’t have adjustable weight systems. Manufacturers that don’t include that are really closing the door of opportunities with a club. As my stroke developed over the last year or so to where I am making A LOT more putts, yes, everyone wants to get better, I went through 9 weight configuration changes in the Mizuno Type 1. That would have put me through 9 putters! I don’t know your budget, but I’m not buying 9 putters! Have a look around the channel, let me know what you’d like to see or hear about. All the best!

    what's your favorite mallet? Spider, Scotty? DOesn't a heavier putter like ping Harwood, 385g, makes it easier to putt on line?

    • @golfcoachpaul
      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My favorite mallet is the phantom 5.5…though it really is a blade. The heavier weight has different effect on different people. I love heavier, but for some, it doesn’t work. The mizuno line (maybe type 4?) is dope as well. Thanks for watching!

    • @jeffyeah4256
      @jeffyeah4256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@golfcoachpaul thanks coach..But isn't the phantom 5.5 too light for your taste and is the 5.5. forgiving enough vs. bigger mallet heads?

    • @golfcoachpaul
      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffyeah4256 forgiveness in putting is a relative term to the stroke style. It’s far over rated and, at the end of the day, a marketing ploy. You can make putters heavier with the interchangeable weights. I wouldn’t buy a putter if it doesn’t have a weight system. Thanks for the comments!

    • @jeffyeah4256

      @@golfcoachpaul Feel wise, is scotty cameron's the best in your opinion? I feel like mallets are good for short putts, but blades are better for distance control on longer putts. Does that make sense?

    • @golfcoachpaul
      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffyeah4256 in my years of fitting I have always said I was a proponent for THAT reason. MANY need a putter for shorter ones that is completely different than long ones. My favorite feelwise currently is Mizuno. Scotty’s always feel great, they are the Mercedes of golf for a reason…

    Great video and review. Are there any major changes from the 2021 Phantom line (not counting new shapes/models)?
    I use to have a 2021 5.5 and found it a little springy off the face, curious if these feel the same. I’m really down to the Phantom X 7/7.5 vs the Ping PLD DS72.

    • @golfcoachpaul
      @golfcoachpaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Chris, thanks for the comment and watching. The 2022 def feels firmer at the face than last year, they added mor stainless to it. I think it is a big improvement as the feel of phantom was “soft” for my preference. The truth is, the ball comes off the face at the same speed regardless of materials (shhh: I know guys in the R&D dept) :) . Feel is sound plus vibration, in this case, much better! I almost always recommend the .5 in any head. You can see my slant neck vs face balanced video for reasoning. All the best!

      @@golfcoachpaul hi COACH, Doesn't the scotty 12 aluminum face result in a harder, clicker sound vs. the steel face scotty's, which I assume is softer feeling?? This is based on conjecture since I can't get my hands on any of them. I go to the PGA superstore and the rep said some lady walked out/stole all the Scotties...

      @@jeffc1736 thanks for watching and commenting. aluminum is waaaay softer than steel, feel wise. I define feel as vibration plus sound. With softer faces, my longer distance putting seems to suffer, while mid and short range are relatively unaffected.

      @@jeffc1736 if you were in a store, that is a really tough environment to go off of, unless you get magic.
