What about when real property damage to a vehicle has occurred with proof of perpetrator who has left the scene without reporting or even leaving a note? Why is it that police officers will refuse to get involved even if you have it on film by dash cam Park modes or whatever because it is private property. Like a Walmart parking lot for instance? I understand the legal pursuit between the two litigants as far as a car is a car as a car it is a privilege not a right and that's why we have insurance.... But to leave the scene of an accident without giving the other individual the benefit of even a note on their windshield is against the law. I would say that these kinds of petty crimes is one of the reasons that we do pay such high insurance rates.
