    I was just thinking how you just spent time cleaning 🧹 the shop and then got into a mess of repairs and your guitar work.. and bam.. stuff everywhere 😂
    This is either going to be the fastest batch ever or maybe the largest batch in a while.. I counted 7 with backs and necks.. and maybe a body in there! Thanks for sharing as always Audey. God bless and watch over you.

    Very nice looking instrument! Loud, too! With a longer neck it's a tenor guitar. Good luck with it.

    French polishing with shellac is a knack I haven’t developed, sure takes time to build with it. Danish oil on shellac is a neat way to go. I’ve had good luck with Tru Oil - worth trying new things, always! Very expansive sound, surprisingly good note articulation given the depth and size of the body - I would have expected some mid range mud, if I’m honest, but that’s the miracle of rosewood for you - and a great craftsman! Look forward to seeing this next batch take shape.

      Maybe I'll try Tru oil next time. I don't like the Danish oil. It seems "sticky". Maybe it takes longer to completely dry than I expected.

    That's going to be a great little instrument Audey! Thanks for bringing us along as always!

    The parts-picking episodes are some of my favorites! It all starts as a chunk of lumber...so much promise for a humble slab of maple.

    Your new instrument looks great and should have a wonderful sound range. See you next time.

      I have to admit it wasn't an original idea. I wish it was because I agree with you about how pretty it is. But I must admit, I saw a photo of a guitar with that headstock design and liked it so much that I had to build mine that same way.

    What’s the scale length and tuning of this? Is it tuned GDAE like a mandolin or CGDA like a mandola?

    • @RatliffMandolins
      @RatliffMandolins  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      CGDA like a mandola. Scale length is 17.1 in.

    Was that Little Rock Getaway on the tiple? Coincidentally, I started trying to learn that song just last week. Haven’t got it all down yet!

    Hello Audey. I enjoy your videos. Watch every week. I would like to know the name of the second song you played on the guitar mandola. I have heard others play it and would like to learn it as well. Thanks and keep the videos coming.

      Little Rock Getaway Here's a link to a 1935 recording by the guy who wrote it. Of course, I can't play it as fast as he can.
