I hope you see this, but you HAVE to try the foundation from The Body Shop called Fresh Nude. I have most of the foundations you talked about in this video and this is better than all of them! I'm not sure if you have this in the states but you would LOVE it! Can't hype it more than this, but you NEED it! I have extremely dry skin, like raptor dry skin and this looks like Jesus Christ touched my face after I apply it!

Lorena Aleman Me too! It's rough finding anything that won't cling to dry patches and make me look WORSE than before I put makeup on. My suggestion is go to Sephora and get samples of the too faced hangover rx primer and too faced born this way foundation. This combo is the closest I've gotten to "flawless" skin. Both expensive products but if you take the plunge, they will last a long long time so I think it actually is cheaper in the ling run.
I tried the new la girl pro hd foundation and I really liked it. it's more hydrating (didn't cling to any of my dry patches) than the milani and full coverage
I never would have guessed you have dry skin, your makeup always looks so freaking flawless and dewy! I guess I need to try some different products bc my face always looks cakey :(

Make sure you exfoliate, try a face oil, hydrating sheet masks & a thicker hydrating night cream. Also don't use a foaming face wash as it is to harsh & strips the skin of moisture. Try a oil or cream cleanser.
I have extremely dry skin too, I tried out the origins night a mins night cream and its absolutely amazing. I wake up and my skin is so rejuvenated! It's really hard to find an affordable day moisturiser but I found one by bioderma and its doing the trick, its for really really dry skin, kind of thick so a little goes a long way, I don't get as many dry patches as I used to now that I used these products which is fab cause I live in Ireland it's generally pretty cold here! Hope this helps :)
i love watching ur "dry skin" targeted videos... i have dry sensitive skin and we are the same shade in foundation! i hardly wear primer because i cant find one that doesnt make me look cakey and flakey. im going to have to try the too faced one

Maybe I can help and might be able to give some recommendations. :) I have SUPER dry skin, to the point where they're a lot of days I'll try to put on makeup but then just have to end up taking it off because my nose, forehead, under my eyes, and my eyelid peel badly. But I've found some that do actually work, especially combined with some other good products and would love to help if I can. 👍☺️

It does have a little tackiness to it that helps it grip to the foundation & make it last longer. Also, Rimmel's 'Fix & Protect' is good but not as moisturising as the 1st. I always moisturise when I get up in the morning anyway or 10 mins before doing my make up which helps.

Not only are you funny and seem very real, but your videos often have such good re-watch value. I honestly do not re-watch videos very often on TH-cam...but yours I seem to come back to decently often! I have been wanting to start my own channel, for overall creative living (makeup, DIY, art, etc) and you make me want to even more. Exfoliating & moisturizing really really well helps a lot, also a beauty blender or real techniques sponge will make the biggest difference. I can't apply foundations with brushes because it will show all my dry patches and look hella patchy
Anna Roger yes they are the best beauty tool! i use for foundation concealer and my powder, its so worth the $20. and yes removing your makeup and exfoliating are key 👌🏽
I have dry skin and frankly, oily skin is so much easier to deal with. You just cleanse it and more than 70% of the makeup products out there are for oily skin, so you don't have to go around searching for the thing which works best for you. And andd there are more powder products out there than those moisturizing liquidy products.. which are so gorgeous btw (powder ones lol), and it makes me feel like I don't have thaaat many choices.. Also, oily-skinned people don't get wrinkles as fast as dry-skinned people do.. Bottom line: I hate my dry skin lololol
I have oily skin and i think the same about dry skin people that you think about oily skin LOL i can tell you that all that matte foundations and primers and powders do not do what they claim, i can apply thr best matte foundation and in an hr I'm oily, believe me is a curse!!!!

What do you think of the Bare Minerals complexion rescue tinted moisturizer spf 30? I find it very hydrating and glowy, plus it has mineral spf and is silicone free, brilliant :)) Also, I've heard good things about the Urban Decay one and done, has anybody tried it? xxx

I LOVE the BareMinerals Bare Skin pressed powder! I feel like it sets beautifully but doesn't get powdery. When you described the Georgio Armani powder, it sounded exactly like how I would describe the Bare Skin powder. Give it a try! Might be a less expensive alternative to the Armani!

lanaxfaust this happens to me because I use retinol so I have to drink a lot of water, I use face oil and Cerave at night. Get the Cerave in the squeeze tube, not the pump. The pump is too watery. Another thing that works on a flakey face is body lotion. Body lotion like Eucerin rich is supposed to penetrate more bc body skin is tougher so for your face, it's a godsend. Anything with ceramides is your best friend. Drink water until your head explodes

I am almost 60 and have developed blackheads so I use Retin A, which has completely dried my skin out. It doesn't matter if I mix it with moisturizer or not. I use a very small amount and even after using it for 2 years, I still have dry skin. I love makeup and have tried everything, including primers. I tried the Laura Geller primer and my skin was still dry. the only primer that helps my dry skin is Cover FX anti-age primer. It feels like you are putting Vaseline on your face, but melts into your skin, allowing foundation to go on beautifully. Also Laura Geller makes a hydrating powder called Baked Elements. You have to pat it on with a dry sponge to get full coverage. Then I use Merle Norman's loose mineral powder on top of it. The mineral powder looks as if it has glitter in it, but when you put it on your skin it is just a beautiful glow. I put it on with a sigma 80 brush and only apply a little. I love your videos!

Can I tell you how much I appreciate your video? I have VERY dry skin and rosacea so need to cover the red. I tried today the laura mercier broad spectrum tinted moisturizer and so far I love it. i put the makeup forever correcting primer for redness underneath. I am thinking about trying the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation for fuller coverage. Thoughts?

Veronica Raygoza that foundation is nice but it's basically like Face and Body by Mac , what ur payin for with the other is the ingredients.. it's skincare built into the Ken foundation .. so basically if u have a good skincare routine u don't need it .. Tarte Rainforest is nice , it's water based & hydrating ..

+Caroline Hartanto I use Korean true match original in the small bottle , maybelline fit me matte and poreless but these don't last as long so use a primer and setting powder. Also cover girl outlast 3 in 1 is great for oily skin but I recommend investing in a high end foundation such as Estée Lauder double wear
I am super dry also and I just recently fell in love with Mac studio water weight foundation. It's super light weight with medium coverage but it is build able but just leaves your skin with such a beautiful finish. I love it so much
The matte fit me line is also amazing. this video is for dry skin but I think the matte could work for some dry skin people too!! The whole fit me collection is honestly a breakthrough in drugstore makeup in my opinion. Love it!!!
The matte one I doubt would be good for dry skin, probably better to get the one Kathleen uses which is the original, I think it's called dewy and smooth 😀
I have dry skin, and I absolutely love the Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced. My skin is both dry, and EXTREMELY sensitive, and I have never found a foundation that can do what that one does for me. It's my holy grail foundation for sure!
I know you didn't talk about moisturizer really.. But when my skin was at its absolute driest.. Like literally peeling (so gross) I went and bought a cetaphil moisturizing cream, it comes in a white tub, green lid. It's not labeled as a face cream, but I did read on the back that it can be used on the face as well as body. Anyway, literally overnight, my skin was healed! No more peeling just from one day of using it! I love it and it will come in handy in winter again. I cannot wear it under makeup however. But it's great for overnight I think and of course your hands, body etc. 😁

You're so right about the hourglass ambient lighting powders. I have weird skin. It's combo right now ... Really oily in the hottest summer months, but real dry in the winter . The hourglass powders are my go to in the winter time to set my whole face . Love them. I use dim light to set my under eyes all year round though. I like that it reflects light without any shimmer and doesn't make my eyes look dry or accentuate my fine lines.
I'm super dry. Like I get eczema from the dryness. So i've tested alot of foundations and my favorite right now is the Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation from Kiko Milano. Super affordable and great for a dry skin.
Also, I like that youre a youtuber that will show honest to god good high-end products! Almost every other beauty guru focuses strongly on drug-store prods, which I understand, but also when they decide to mention high-end products its just to mention 'em, you know? I like that I can get a well tested review and opinion of a high-end prod from you. I never buy drug-store, so I definitely appreciate that from you.
The urban decay naked concealer is the only concealer that doesn't crease under my extremely dry eyes that I have tried. The cover is medium and it's very hydrating. Recommend it so much!!

I have really dry flaky skin and these are the products I love. Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow foundation, Hourglass illusion foundation. I love the bare minerals concealer but I also love the new makeup forever one and I love the sephora one. For setting powder I adore the Nars translucent in the pressed version. Butter bronzer from physicians is absolutely the best bronzer ever so far and I love the matte highlighter by Laura Mercier. I also really like the 28 primer by hourglass.

I use Maybelline Fit Me Dewy Foundation in 210 Sandy Beige. I love it! It doesn't cling to my dry patches, but if my face too dry on some days, it'll come off my nose. lol It's not noticeable, but I notice it. If you use this, I suggest setting it with a powder foundation or a setting powder. I plan on trying the Too Faced Born This way Foundation in Natural Beige. If that shade ain't it and I like the formula, I might have to exchange it for light beige.
I just tried the Jose Maran foundation with argan oil. it is amazing for my 46 yr old skin ....healthy and dewy and feels so good on....gorgeous got dry to normal skin types. amazing video Kathleen xo
Have you heard of the IT Cosmetics Cc+? They have two versions, The regular your skin but better, and the illuminating. Personally I don't like an illuminated shiny finish, I have the original. But I have dry skin as well, and it is amazing for me. And I would definitely consider it a medium to buildable coverage. Unfortunately the shade selection isn't great, but I highly recommend you head to an Ulta to check it out. Pricy, but so good in my opinion.
you have have to have to try the hourglass veil primer!!!! I have such dry skin and that's the only thing that will keep my skin moisturized the whole day. it has tons of vitamins and minerals and it's vegan. you won't regret it. Remember clear bottle, not white. A lot of ppl get confused. love you kathleen!
It's not bad, but for the same $$ you can get something that does far more for the skin. Paula's Choice is particularly fabulous, & has options for every skin type w/ & w/ out SPF.

They have so many awesome products at such reasonable prices, and all of their products are designed with science in mind, instead of just over-hyped trendy ingredients. There's antioxidants in everything, no fragrances or irritating plant oils, everything is in air-tight packaging to maintain the integrity of the product (no jars, all pumps or squeeze tubes)... I can't say enough good things about them. Highly recommend trying them out 😊
Im convinced I have the dryest skin in the world I can layer serums, oils & moisturisers and 2 hours later my skin soaked it all up and it's dehydrated!!
I agree about drinking tons & tons of water, also look at the ingredients in your products. I personally use all natural and mostly organic skin care. I mix oils with my moisturizers and I literally bathe my face in rose water day & night. Also a tip is to use warm water when washing your face then rinsing your face with super ice cold water
it's possible something is really stripping your skin to make it so dehydrated! you could try checking the ingredients in your skincare, alcohol is a common culprit
***** yes! sooo many products contain alcohol and mineral oils which are horrible for all skin types especially those that are dry. I live by thayers witch hazel as my toner as its alcohol free and super affordable
Check out the AsianBeauty subreddit, a large number of their suggested products aren't too complex to get in the US or UK and they've suggested so many intensely hydrating products from oils to ultra intense overnight creams. They'll definitely have something for your degree of dryness. (I favour the Ladykin Vanpir Dark Repair Cream)

Ive tried most silicone based drugstore primers. And ive tried benefit porefessional and i hated that. I do sorta like the smashbox photofinsih one

Sarha Anderson Laura Mercier makes a range of primers that cater to so many needs & the one I have, which is the original I think, is really nicely moisturising with no silicone feel to it at all. It does have a little tackiness to it that helps it grip to the foundation & make it last longer. Also, Rimmel's 'Fix & Protect' is good but not as moisturising as the 1st. I always moisturise when I get up in the morning anyway or 10 mins before doing my make up which helps.

My problem with most foundations for dry skin is the coverage sucks. It's always supposed to be "buildable" but ends up looking cakey.

Exfoliating & moisturizing really really well helps a lot, also a beauty blender or real techniques sponge will make the biggest difference. I can't apply foundations with brushes because it will show all my dry patches and look hella patchy

Anna Roger yes they are the best beauty tool! i use for foundation concealer and my powder, its so worth the $20. and yes removing your makeup and exfoliating are key 👌🏽
I have dry skin and frankly, oily skin is so much easier to deal with. You just cleanse it and more than 70% of the makeup products out there are for oily skin, so you don't have to go around searching for the thing which works best for you. And andd there are more powder products out there than those moisturizing liquidy products.. which are so gorgeous btw (powder ones lol), and it makes me feel like I don't have thaaat many choices..
Also, oily-skinned people don't get wrinkles as fast as dry-skinned people do..
Bottom line: I hate my dry skin lololol

I have oily skin and i think the same about dry skin people that you think about oily skin LOL i can tell you that all that matte foundations and primers and powders do not do what they claim, i can apply thr best matte foundation and in an hr I'm oily, believe me is a curse!!!!

I LOVE the BareMinerals Bare Skin pressed powder! I feel like it sets beautifully but doesn't get powdery. When you described the Georgio Armani powder, it sounded exactly like how I would describe the Bare Skin powder. Give it a try! Might be a less expensive alternative to the Armani!

lanaxfaust this happens to me because I use retinol so I have to drink a lot of water, I use face oil and Cerave at night. Get the Cerave in the squeeze tube, not the pump. The pump is too watery. Another thing that works on a flakey face is body lotion. Body lotion like Eucerin rich is supposed to penetrate more bc body skin is tougher so for your face, it's a godsend. Anything with ceramides is your best friend. Drink water until your head explodes

I am almost 60 and have developed blackheads so I use Retin A, which has completely dried my skin out. It doesn't matter if I mix it with moisturizer or not. I use a very small amount and even after using it for 2 years, I still have dry skin. I love makeup and have tried everything, including primers. I tried the Laura Geller primer and my skin was still dry. the only primer that helps my dry skin is Cover FX anti-age primer. It feels like you are putting Vaseline on your face, but melts into your skin, allowing foundation to go on beautifully. Also Laura Geller makes a hydrating powder called Baked Elements. You have to pat it on with a dry sponge to get full coverage. Then I use Merle Norman's loose mineral powder on top of it. The mineral powder looks as if it has glitter in it, but when you put it on your skin it is just a beautiful glow. I put it on with a sigma 80 brush and only apply a little. I love your videos!

I tried today the laura mercier broad spectrum tinted moisturizer and so far I love it. i put the makeup forever correcting primer for redness underneath. Also cover girl outlast 3 in 1 is great for oily skin but I recommend investing in a high end foundation such as Estée Lauder double wear

I am super dry also and I just recently fell in love with Mac studio water weight foundation. It's super light weight with medium coverage but it is build able but just leaves your skin with such a beautiful finish. I love it so much
The matte fit me line is also amazing. this video is for dry skin but I think the matte could work for some dry skin people too!! The whole fit me collection is honestly a breakthrough in drugstore makeup in my opinion. Love it!!!

The matte one I doubt would be good for dry skin, probably better to get the one Kathleen uses which is the original, I think it's called dewy and smooth 😀

I have dry skin, and I absolutely love the Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced. My skin is both dry, and EXTREMELY sensitive, and I have never found a foundation that can do what that one does for me. It's my holy grail foundation for sure!
I know you didn't talk about moisturizer really.. But when my skin was at its absolute driest.. Like literally peeling (so gross) I went and bought a cetaphil moisturizing cream, it comes in a white tub, green lid. It's not labeled as a face cream, but I did read on the back that it can be used on the face as well as body. Anyway, literally overnight, my skin was healed! No more peeling just from one day of using it! I love it and it will come in handy in winter again. I cannot wear it under makeup however. But it's great for overnight I think and of course your hands, body etc. 😁

You're so right about the hourglass ambient lighting powders. I have weird skin. It's combo right now ... Really oily in the hottest summer months, but real dry in the winter . The hourglass powders are my go to in the winter time to set my whole face . Love them. I use dim light to set my under eyes all year round though. I like that it reflects light without any shimmer and doesn't make my eyes look dry or accentuate my fine lines.
I'm super dry. Like I get eczema from the dryness. So i've tested alot of foundations and my favorite right now is the Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation from Kiko Milano. Super affordable and great for a dry skin.

The urban decay naked concealer is the only concealer that doesn't crease under my extremely dry eyes that I have tried. The cover is medium and it's very hydrating. Recommend it so much!!

I have really dry flaky skin and these are the products I love. Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow foundation, Hourglass illusion foundation. I love the bare minerals concealer but I also love the new makeup forever one and I love the sephora one. For setting powder I adore the Nars translucent in the pressed version. Butter bronzer from physicians is absolutely the best bronzer ever so far and I love the matte highlighter by Laura Mercier. I also really like the 28 primer by hourglass.

I use Maybelline Fit Me Dewy Foundation in 210 Sandy Beige. I love it! It doesn't cling to my dry patches, but if my face too dry on some days, it'll come off my nose. lol It's not noticeable, but I notice it. If you use this, I suggest setting it with a powder foundation or a setting powder. I plan on trying the Too Faced Born This way Foundation in Natural Beige. If that shade ain't it and I like the formula, I might have to exchange it for light beige.
I just tried the Jose Maran foundation with argan oil. it is amazing for my 46 yr old skin ....healthy and dewy and feels so good on....gorgeous got dry to normal skin types. amazing video Kathleen xo

Have you heard of the IT Cosmetics Cc+? They have two versions, The regular your skin but better, and the illuminating. Personally I don't like an illuminated shiny finish, I have the original. But I have dry skin as well, and it is amazing for me. And I would definitely consider it a medium to buildable coverage. Unfortunately the shade selection isn't great, but I highly recommend you head to an Ulta to check it out. Pricy, but so good in my opinion.

you have have to have to try the hourglass veil primer!!!! I have such dry skin and that's the only thing that will keep my skin moisturized the whole day. it has tons of vitamins and minerals and it's vegan. you won't regret it. Remember clear bottle, not white. A lot of ppl get confused. love you kathleen!

They have so many awesome products at such reasonable prices, and all of their products are designed with science in mind, instead of just over-hyped trendy ingredients. There's antioxidants in everything, no fragrances or irritating plant oils, everything is in air-tight packaging to maintain the integrity of the product (no jars, all pumps or squeeze tubes)... I can't say enough good things about them. Highly recommend trying them out 😊
Im convinced I have the dryest skin in the world I can layer serums, oils & moisturisers and 2 hours later my skin soaked it all up and it's dehydrated!!
I agree about drinking tons & tons of water, also look at the ingredients in your products. I personally use all natural and mostly organic skin care. I mix oils with my moisturizers and I literally bathe my face in rose water day & night. Also a tip is to use warm water when washing your face then rinsing your face with super ice cold water
it's possible something is really stripping your skin to make it so dehydrated! you could try checking the ingredients in your skincare, alcohol is a common culprit
***** yes! sooo many products contain alcohol and mineral oils which are horrible for all skin types especially those that are dry. I live by thayers witch hazel as my toner as its alcohol free and super affordable
Check out the AsianBeauty subreddit, a large number of their suggested products aren't too complex to get in the US or UK and they've suggested so many intensely hydrating products from oils to ultra intense overnight creams. They'll definitely have something for your degree of dryness. (I favour the Ladykin Vanpir Dark Repair Cream)
