    Happy belated thanksgiving Keith.
    I grilled a turkey for me and my American wife on the day :-)
    Keep up the steady stream of videoes. It is a weekly joy for me to watch them :-)
    Best wishes from Denmark,

    I am a big fan of your show and tell on tools. I also have a Starrett clamp # 289A. I picked mine up at the Habitat Restore store. I found it lying on the floor on top of a bag of cement. Best 50 cent item ever. I kept kicking the bag of cement while looking thru the tool bin. I went to move the bag of cement and there it was. I remembered seeing your other one in the past, so i knew what it was.

      +Chuck Small Those toolmakers clamps are not used a lot, but when you need them they are perfect! I would buy a truck load of them at 50 cents each....

    Hello Keith,
    I will thank you for making all the video's and the time you spend on making it, just like this great video. Always I learn a lot and see thing I never had seen before, or I didn't know where they are for or how to use.
    When I see all those tools then I better can't go to the mall because I know myself and spend much to much money. But I did buy much more useful tools because of your video's.
    Again thanks for the good Odds & Ends and many greetings from Roel.
    Besides, I hope that next week there's more progression with the build of the new shop.

    Thank you for telling what you paid for these items. Knowing that helps me a lot. It is very easy to get excited and spend too much.
    Excellent channel, Mr Rucker, and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving too.

      +bluegrassengineer Most of the prices at the swap meet were not cheap by any means, but they were reasonable. You can often find better deals if you have time to search for them.

    You scored great with the big tap/die sets, even if not quite complete. I am envious! I have a box of similar size which is some British Standard Whitworth stuff - not a thread for you of course!
    Altogether, you've found some very useful stuff. Most enjoyable.

    • @VintageMachinery
      @VintageMachinery  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ChrisB257 I have actually ran into a couple of Whitworth threads over the years. Not often, but they do show up from time to time....

    Glad you had a good Thanksgiving and things are drying out for you. It is a muddy mess working on my shop. I had to use my big Deere tractor just to move the lift around outside the barn because it would just spin on its own. We got 3in of rain over the weekend while I was working. I did manage to get another support up and some more loft torn out. One piece at a time I guess!

    • @VintageMachinery
      @VintageMachinery  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bcbloc02 I will be looking for a video update on your shop progress. My tractor was bogging down while doing the grading work, but I never got stuck - just a lot of ruts. I am really hoping that they start framing this week - I am on the road all weak so I will have to wait until I get home on Friday to see what progress was made.

    Keith, nice finds with the GTD sets there. I thought Adam was going to rob your goodies out of the wagon! The swap meet looked like a great place to be. There is a similar market about 150 miles from where I live in WV. It's an indoor/outdoor type market in Rogers, OH. It's about 50 acres in size. Great videos and keep doing what you do. You need to put a "time capsule" some there in your new shop. We did it in the house that I was raised in. The only problem is that 60 years I couldn't remember where it was so it's still there.

    Hey, Keith, nice Little Giant sets! You probably know this already, but the No.9 set was NC only, someone must have swapped out the jaws in that second set for the NF ones. A similar NF set with those same sizes would be a No. 37.
    The empty space in the boxes is for a "bit brace shank" tool, which screws into the smaller 2" dies in place of the collet plate, and allows you to use a carpenter's brace to turn the die.
    Drop me a line; I may have an extra one of the bit brace tools. I also might have the 3/4NF die you need.

    • @VintageMachinery
      @VintageMachinery  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andy Wander Actually, one of the No. 9 sets says "NF" or "Fine Thread" or something to that effect on the label. I think that GTD used different numbering systems over the years but one of my catalogs actually show a fine thread option for the No. 9 set. as well. I would be very interested in one of those bit brace tools - I think I have found the die from another one of my viewers.

      You're the best for offering. I thought I mentioned it to you, but I got an entire spindle assembly from Mr. Rock, and it actually fit my shaper. He took it right off a Porter shaper that was getting scrapped.
      Do you mind sending me your email address via the OWWM PM system? I have some questions for you not regarding this video that I'd like to get your opinion on. Thanks. Great video's. I've been watching all of them this past week now that I've got some time.

    it's always a treat to see the neat stuff you pick up here and there.. i'll say it before Kilroy does: you been feeding the monster again...kilroy is gonna be turning "greenfield" with envy over those tap sets. them are purdy nice..
    that accessory kit for the jo-blocks is awesome.. i've been eye-balling them in ebay off and on over the last few months and i must say you got a steal on that!.. nice job!.
    keep up the good work and i look forward to seeing the next episode of your odds&ends.
    cheers

      @VintageMachinery  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +HolzMichel Yeah, I can't wait to see what Kilroy says.... I was just glad to be able to snag them! I doubt I will start "collecting" them, but these should make for a nice set of users. As for those knives, shoot me another email towards the end of the week. I have been busier than crazy with my job the past few weeks and have been trying hard just to keep up with posting videos. I would be very interested in you making some knives - I just need to get the dimensions to you. I am on the road until Friday, so probably best to send me a note towards the end of the week.

I would expect a person to know the basics re machining or be able to perform a search before asking a question as well. Similar to +Eugen N question about Adam's channel, a youtube or google search using the words Adam and machining easily locate his channel.

      yeah, i see your point. on the other hand i have submitted questions and comments to Keith Fenner (who is busier than a one legged man in an ass kickin contest), Tom Lipton, Keith Rucker, Stefan Gotteswinter and Jake Kilroy who are all at least as busy as Adam and have gotten answers on most of my questions. I've asked Adam some pretty pointed ones and never got "boo" out of him. which is why i dropped my sub to his channel.
      his content is great and the projects are more than interesting... so i'm a little more than disappointed with him

      +HolzMichel In some regards many of these folks have now reached celebrity status in the last few years and have to decide how they are going to spend their down time when not producing videos. With the numbers of subscribers they have these days it could be quite a task. I too have also noticed how some of them don't reply but I usually don't expect to get one either. I'd give Adam a second chance if I were you, and probably not try to contact him or any of the others. No doubt whatever your question is someone else will have already asked it anyway.

      +leonard payne I had a look at your channel, for some tips on how to make videos properly, but to my utter shock, I noted that you have never made a single one!
      You must be a natural born cinematographer though, as you are capable of criticising someone for doing something you have never done yourself.
