Thank you a 1000 times over for being what I would call, the perfect teacher. I am honest when I say I am clueless to electric anything and so overwhelmed even thinking of the electric portion of my self van build. You outline everything so clearly and finally I am able to comprehend many aspects of what you discuss. I am headed down the rabbit hole of all your videos. I have a 2005 e350 econoline that i am trying to build for weekend trips to the beach here in SoCal and I bought the jackery 1000 with 2 panels and am preparing to try to wire puck lights and outlets to it, and hope to add a flex panel to the top that can charge is while in transit. Wish this greenhorn luck because I am going to be moving forward with all the info I learn here on the channel. Thanks so much for your amazing videos
Nate - I sent an email that it is time to redo this video using the new Bluetti AC200MAX and show us how to use it to completely replace an existing 30A AC/12VDC RV system or to supplement it. As well since this Bluetti model can accept 1400W solar input it would be great to hear your take on suggested installs as well. No one on TH-cam has grabbed this 'high ground' with latest generation of solar generators and we need you!
When charging the Bluetti 2000wP with solar, should there be any dual shutoff circuit breakers wired in and any inline fuses uses on each panel when charging to the max 700 watts in order to avoid overage amperage?
Great review as I’m a complete novice and your power explanations make me feel like I can do these things myself. About this unit-as I plan my camper van and intend to spend a large part of my budget ensuring I have enough energy to be truly off grid- would having something like this as an absolute back up in case something significant affects the solar and battery install, be worth the investment? Or
Very helpful for someone with little knowledge and experience in this field. Question: could this unit be charged by a 12v car inverter, say rated at 150 watts (power plug in car says 120 w max) with the included 110 power charger? Seems like this would be just as fast as charging off 110 at home and since I am driving on a trip wouldn't this be "free" energy off the alternator just like solar??? Would the inverter need to be a pure sine wave? Thanks....
I have the Jackery 240 and what was disappointing is that although you can charge with panels and use the power station at the same time, it is not recommended elsewhere in the documentation. Not clear.
you have anything on how to use solar with the jackery and use another solar panel and not the jackery panel. how would you set that up or how to make a cord for it
Wow I thought Prowse was super intelligent when it comes to all this but you blew me away how you described it in layman terms...I am a 55 yr young woman and it is all so confusing but this helped thanks!!! and I DID Sub you are worth my attention :)
Hi ..Can this power unit be charged from my petrol/ gas generator ( 1 Kw..single phase pure sine 800w unit) If so..What would I need to use to do so? Thanks
Hi Nate. What size wire would you suggest to use on the POS and NEG terminals if connecting my 12v DC appliances to a fuse panel and then to a cigarette male adapter? Thank you
Since the cigarette output on the Jackery can only output 10A; as long as your fuse panel is under 15 away from your Jackery unit, 10 gauge wire will keep you under 3% voltage drop and is what I would recommend for this purpose. Here's some good 10 gauge duplex wire for that purpose: amzn.to/2PFU5Dn
@@EXPLORISTlife Would you put a 10 amp fuse between the cigarette adapter and fuse panel? The cigarette adapter comes with a 15 amp fuse within it. Thank you!
How can this be charged faster with solar? I have a compact car pulling a tiny travel trailer this Jackery Explorer 500 would simplify my electrical set up A LOT. But 9-14 hours of strong sun is WAY too much to ask for in the northeast. Shouldn't a 24V panel that can put out more then 3.5 amps work? Or two 100W 12V panels into a 24V charge controller before input to the Jackery? This looks like a great product but charge time is a problem.
Hi Nate. I have immersed myself in all things Explorist.life. thanks for the education. Since this review, does the Bluetti AC200 change your mind much about an all-in-one? It seems to fall into my power requirement range and the money I save could go into boosting my solar up to 650-700w. Am interested in your opinion.
I don't really have much of a change in opinion on those. I still like all-in-one generators for a grab-and-go solution when high performance and system flexibility is not needed.
i was looking to just use for 110 plug in internet mobile device and 110 plug in phone and a apple ipad air like for 6 hours while traveling any chance of frying thease items with this product?
It depends on what kind of power your gaming laptop draws. You can find out how many watts it uses by looking at your power brick and multiplying the Output Volts by the Output Amps to get the output watts. As long as that is below 500, this will run your computer. How long will it run it? Take 518 (watt hours of the Jackery 500) and divide that by the output watts you figured earlier. This will tell you how many hours you can run your computer.
Great seeing you again. I hope both of you are doing well. Good review. Question? Would you purchase this or one that is a battery power pack and car jumper unit?
I would probably have 2 separate units as I don't know if there are any car jumper units that have the same capabilities as this unit. I could totally be wrong, but I just don't think I've seen any.
I dont know the exact power consumption of your exact computer, but theres a VERY good chance it would work for that purpose, especially if you were using a solar panel during the day; no problem.
Maybe. It depends on how your electrical is set up in your small RV. That's not really what this is for though and I think you'll be disappointed in it if you are trying to use it as a shore power replacement. Likely, upgrading the batteries in your RV will be a better solution.
I've watched so many of these videos but I just dont understand electricity or power. I barely understand Wh and watts but not much else. So your speaking a completely different language to me. What I keep trying to figure out is how long (if i charge/use one thing at a time), will it keep its charge? I just dont get it. 🤯
Think about it this way. A Watt Hour is running a Watt of power for 1 Hour. So if this thing is 500 Watt Hours, you can run a big honkin 500 Watt TV for 1 Hour. You could run a smaller 250 Watt TV for 2 Hours. You could run a small 100 Watt TV for 5 Hours. Same thing by substituting a TV with anything else, like a small fridge, light bulbs, radio, computer, etc. Each of these examples is just multiplying the Watts X Hours. If I have 10 50 Watt Bulbs (10x50=500), I could run them all for 1 Hour. If you want to dig deeper, a Watt = 1 Volt X 1 Amp. If you go up to 10 Volts X 10 Amps, that’s 100 Watts. Now let’s try convering Watts to Amps. Divide Watts by EITHER Amps or Volts to get the other one. 100 Watts / 10 Amps = 10 Volts. 100 Watts / 10 Volts = 10 Amps. Does This Make Sense?

Jackery product are top notch. I have 3 x and the new 500 watt world be a nice addition to my collection. I like the shape and design of them. The built in handle is very nice. Now with 500 watts why not give us 2 or even 3 ac plug outlets?
Does it have a power saving mode where it turns off after 6 hrs when it's only drawing less than 10 watts? That's one reason I returned and went with GoalZero Yeti instead.
I can't say for 100% sure one way or the other, but I can ask. Though, the only way I can see being able to charge at 12, 18, AND 25v is to have an MPPT inside.
