I recently bought a very clean used 2016 3.5L V6 Taurus limited in dark grey metallic with the black leather interior. Looks sharp, very smooth 6 speed auto transmission and very quick and strong at 288hp. Handles wonderfully, very smooth and quiet, tons of interior room, easy interactive main screen tech, huge trunk and WOW I get 32+mpg on the freeway?! I’m very impressed. Thank you Ford!
My favorite Tauruses are the original 85-91s and the 96-07 and these new styled ones are also nice from 2010-2020. My Dad had a silver 96 GL was loaded and was pretty much close to the SHO. He later replaced that car with a 2001 Mercury Sable LS Premium also in silver and was loaded with every option for the time! His last new car before he got a 2018 Escape SE was a 2010 Ford Fusion Sport all silver and clean up well. The Fusion Sport is mine now and it still looks brand new as we always store it winters. That car was its own model in the Fusion line-up and is basically a SHO Jr.
I'd refrain from using the word "much". We had an '08 Grand Marquis before getting a '12 Taurus. The back seat and trunk are larger in the Taurus and the front feels roomier with the lack of an intrusive drive shaft tunnel.
The Taurus SHO runs comparable times to that XR6 you're talking about. This is the smallest engine available in the Taurus. If you're going to compare the Turbo I6 in the Falcon you should compare it to the Turbo V6 in the SHO.
I heard Ford is planning on discontinuing the Taurus in the US Unless they plan on doing some sort of new big car That could spell the end of big cars in America and we're gonna be driving crappy European cars
It's a shame that Ford is exiting the car market except for the Mustang, the Taurus is a great vehicle. Buy while you can! In 10 years all the used cars will be crossovers, that's all that's selling now.

aayonce4 it's fully loaded to didn't break the bank defiantly worth the turbos and feels so different from the stock v6 I had it's crazy it's not the fastest car but it's enough Horsepower you need to go fast

Wow dude my old caddy eldo does 0-60 5.9-6.0 secs radar'd and 1/4 mile 14.60 bone stock and its heavy with 300hp/300tq...and it's a 1996... Way ahead of its time I mean if I want speed I get on my Suzuki gsxr 1k.. But I can't believe something that old whoops ass still till this day awesome I mean you can check sites and times vary but I have these radar'd so... No bs there

Says who? you? The vast majority of people who own them, love them. I have an SHO PP and despite a few age related problems at 120k miles, it looks and drives like a brand new car. Well built and have almost everything you could want.. The problem isn't the quality of the car, it's that most people no longer are interested in big sedans. Everyone wants an F150, an SUV, Mustang or a Focus RS..

Yes, the MT-5 had a 5-speed manual. The same 4cyl was available with an automatic, the car was the Taurus L. I owned one (an '88 L).
I'll buy one when I can get the 2.0T with AWD and the suspension package from the SHO.

2.0 ecoboost is a great idea for the big car.
Personally I would opt for a V-6 engine along with a 4 speed automatic and all power options, all wheel drive can work well also.
