  • Buying a new boat is always a risk, especially with the amount of money an offshore boat like the Grady White Canyon 306 costs today. In this video, an owner of a new Canyon 36 model give his honest take on the boat, and addresses such questions as:
-What are the best features of the Grady White Canyon?
-Why did you choose the 306 over the 336 model?
-How well does the boat fish offshore?
-Is there anything you'd change about the Grady 306?

I have a 28 Steiger Craft Miami with 300hp Yamahas, the boat is not as good as an offshore boat as the Grady. So when I go offshore we go in my friends 30 Grady Marlin….which I assume is the same hull as this Canyon….Much better ride in rough head seas than my Steiger. But the down side is his fuel economy. The Marlin being much heavier than the Canyon only gets 1 to 1.1 at 25kts with a pair of 250 Yamahas. I get about 1.4 to 1.5 at 22kt on the 28 Steiger. But I do love the enclosure and most of all the positive floatation of the Grady’s!
I single hand my Steiger much of the time…The Grady Marlin is a hand full solo….I think the Canyon is easier to single hand, but tts not the boat for the cold Pacific Northwest waters of San Francisco….Thanks for the review! Keep them coming.

I looked at Grady's, and compared to other boats in this class, they're heavier than the competition.
The 10'6" beam is a plus and a negative. Better ride and stable platform, but you need a very large trailer.
Depending on space, for going offshore, I'd get a SeaKeeper.
The Grady is still a very nice boat.

Yep, the Seakeeper offshore is a game changer on a smaller boat.

Does not having a vent in the windshield bother you?
I love the Grady’s but want the retractable rear sunshade on that model. Don’t think it’s offered.

Both of those can be added aftermarket. A Sureshade would obviously require removing the rocket launchers from the hard top.

Given the size that's a reasonable price for a great boat.
